Assalamu Alaykum Dear parents and carers With our imminent return to school drawing nearer, I would like to remind and assure parents of the following measures we have in place to mitigate, minimise, and hopefully eliminate potential risk of COVID19 transmission at Bellfield College. Staff - All adults on site (teaching and support staff) have been double vaccinated - All adults on site (teaching and support staff) are required to wear a mask - Staff movement across campus is restricted, with limitations on how many staff can access common areas at a time Students - Ongoing education of students throughout the day relating to Covid safe practices (please refer to attached images and share with your child at home) - Junior school students are encouraged to wear a mask. It is preferred parents supply their child with a mask Parents - No parents on campus. If collecting a child from campus prior to 2.30pm, staff will walk your child to the gate - Students displaying symptoms to be pickup in 40min Hygiene and Cleaning - Hand sanitiser in every classroom – students will sanitise upon entering and exiting the classroom - Ani bacterial wipes and disinfectant spray in every classroom. Last session of the day will be recorded/ prerecorded in case student has to travel to the College with a parent to collect a K-2 sibling Our response protocols College management has conducted and implemented a rigorous risk assessment to protect our Bellfield College community. If the College has a confirmed case of Covid-19 whereby an individual has been infectious whilst on school grounds, strict response protocols are in place. I would ask that parents understand the role they play in keeping our Bellfield Community safe and their legal obligations if a member of their family has tested positive. For your reference, I have included further information from NSW Health.
If you have tested positive for COVID-19: 1. Self-isolate in your home immediately 2. Tell everyone who lives with you that they must self-isolate too 3. Tell your work manager, place of education, household members, and people you have been in contact with in the 2 days before you got sick (or 2 days before your test if you have no symptoms) that you have tested positive for COVID-19 and ask them to get tested and self-isolate. Contact your Local Health District clinical team, your doctor, or call Healthdirect (1800 022 222) if you need health advice. In an emergency call 000, for example if you are having trouble breathing or pain in your chest.
As always, should you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact the College. I look forward to welcoming our students and staff back on campus on Monday 25th October. Warm regards Miss Harold

Dear Parents and Carers, Our fabulous staff have been busily preparing for students to return to onsite learning next week. We are so excited to see students in classrooms and playgrounds, and measures have been taken to provide a safe, supportive and engaging environment for everyone. Personally, I cannot wait to visit students with the Birthday Bucket - there’s a lot of birthdays to catch up on and celebrate! We understand that students will return to school with mixed emotions; some will be confident, happy and excited. Some will be worried, sad and anxious. The Junior School will take a slow and steady approach so that all students have the opportunity to ease into routines and friendships in a calm and familiar way. Emotional wellbeing and re-establishing expectations are our priority for all children in these first few weeks. At home you might find that your child is displaying some challenging behaviour as they prepare to return to school. This is completely normal. Ways you can help your child include: • • • •
• •
•
Get back into a routine, including dinner, bath and bed times. Restrict or reduce how much news and media younger children are exposed to, as this may scare or worry them. Talk about and be upfront about any concerns your children may have. Make positive statements to your children about what they’re doing well, and how they’re coping with the challenges and expectations placed on them by the teachers and the school. Stay calm and allow time for your children to transition and settle back to school. Support kids to get plenty of rest, particularly in the first week or two after returning to school, as they will be adjusting to a much busier schedule than what they have recently been used to. As a family, plan some fun recreational and social activities to look forward to on the weekends.
It’s important to be aware that any transition can take time and every child will be different. Some will bounce back into their old routines immediately, while others will take longer to readjust. Remember that being away from school and then returning to a changed environment can cause anxiety and stress. Problem solve any concerns or issues together and take note of any strategies that will help your children to cope. Kind regards, Mrs Natalie Stevenson

NEWS FROM YEAR 1 Assamalu Alykum, Dear parents, Year 1 have done an amazing job during remote learning and have settled well into online learning again this term. We are all very proud of their achievements! This term in Maths we have been learning all about adding and subtracting numbers. Students have learnt to use different mental and written strategies such as counting on, number lines and the hundreds chart to add and subtract 2-digit numbers together. This week, we learnt all about fact families! Students were able to identify and write a fact family using the same three numbers, including 2 addition and 2 subtraction number sentences. To consolidate their learning, we completed a spider fact family craft. Students wrote out 2 fact families on the spider’s legs. Well done Year 1! Kind Regards, Miss Mchawrab, Miss Chokr and Miss Awada Year 1 Teachers

QURAN HIGHLIGHTS It has been a challenging term having to deliver our content online, but I am proud of all our students’ progress and hard work in these difficult times. In Quran our classes are divided into two groups to cater to our student’s needs and for them to achieve the best outcomes. I have had the privilege to teach year 4 and year 2 level B this year. In year 2 we have been practising our letters with short vowels and have started learning our long vowel sounds. As for our Quran, we are practising surat Al Duha. As for year 4 we have been working on our short vowel sounds, long vowel sounds and have been introduced to sukoon. In Quran we are practising surat Al Balad. I am really proud of all the amazing work our students have performed during this time and I am looking forward to having them back on campus Inshallah. Nour Nasereddine Quran and Arabic teacher
