Women in Leadership - RARE BIRDS Asalamu Alaykum Dear parents, I recently met with Jo Burston (one of Australia's most prominent entrepreneurs), the Hon Bronnie Taylor MLC (Minister for Women, Mental Health and Regional Youth) and Wendy Lindsay MP (State Member for East Hills). We came together in the name of Mother's Day and from this special occasion we realised some much more. Jo explained her inspiration behind the organisation 'INSPIRING RARE BIRDS', after she found that school students in 2013 either hadn’t heard of an entrepreneur or thought it meant ‘a man’. Their smiles got bigger as we spoke about our 2021 leadership campaign dominated by our rising female students, our women in leadership and how we work to balance the family and workplace commitments. The talent and enthusiasm is seen across campus and the results of empowering our young females already evident. We will continue to empower more women entrepreneurs - Impacting the UN Sustainable Development Goals - Goal 4: Quality Education, Goal 5: Gender Equality and Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities. We will do this by empowering students through entrepreneurial learning in action. Our Head of HSIE Mr Hijazi will share more details about the curriculum initiatives including the start-up business programs supported by the NSW Department of Education coming up in 2022. Warm regards, Ms Mouina Ramadan Head of Senior School
