Year 7 – Managing the Bull Program Yesterday our Year 7 students commenced their “Managing the Bull” Program as part of their transition into High School. Over the next 5 weeks Year 7 students will participate in group activities incorporating bullying as the “BIG IDEA”. Term 1 - Thursday, 25th March, Thursday, 1st April 2021 Term 2 – Thursday, 22nd April and Thursday, 29th April 2021 Bullying is an imbalance of power. Teasing, taunting and other forms of bullying can cause serious emotional harm to young people that can last all throughout their lifetime and impact upon their future life goals and relationships. Ignoring or excusing the behaviour only perpetuates the situation. Managing the Bull is a 6-week program that incorporates a person-centred approach that builds resilience in bullied teens through games, activities and discussions. In a safe, supportive environment, students will learn to: • Recognize bullying • Discover inner strengths • Build self esteem • Communicate effectively • Deal with cyber-bullying • Build support networks • Use a personal protection plan Outcomes from this week’s session include: • Help facilitators get to know the students • Identify students’ strengths • Introduce the topic of bullying • Prepare students to identify bullying behaviour Our next session will be held on Thursday, 25th March 2021. Warm regards, Ms Mouina Ramadan Head of Senior School
