“Back Pain Technology Cheats Mother Nature
After helping hundreds of Fairfield County herniated disc sufferers eliminate their pain, Local Doctor explains how…
Helps Herniated Discs Heal Naturally… In As Little As 25 Minutes!” At Last! Fairfield County Doctor Offers Technology That Doesn’t Just End SEVERE Pain From Herniated Discs, But Helps Your Body To Start Rebuilding Them… As Fast As Humanly Possible! Best Part: You can check it all out for FREE if you like!
There is no doubt… technology has made all of our lives better… and easier. Just about every miraculous medical cure and comfort of modern living can be attributed to amazing breakthroughs in technology. Heck, laser eye surgery can give people who are almost as blind as a bat perfect 20/20 vision. How amazing is that? That’s why it’s no surprise that technology might be able to solve your back and neck pain from herniated/bulging discs or sciatica…for good. Here is why: Back and neck pain can be devastating. And nothing is worse than going to doctor after doctor… trying treatment after treatment… spending money you can’t afford… and still suffering in pain. That’s why… I bet you would love to instantly end your pain… without any risk what-soever… and have it never come back for the rest of your life? Well, that might NOT be so easy. But, what if there was a wonderful advancement in technology that, with a handful of simple, non-invasive treatments, could possibly have you out of pain and on your way to healing naturally? Better yet, what if this technology could possibly heal your herniated/bulging discs (instead of cutting it out like surgery) so you have the best chance to live pain-free and do all the things you want and love to do? And what if this technology was: • FDA cleared! • Proven safe and effective! • Allows your herniated discs to heal naturally without the risky and dangerous side effects of surgery! • Relieves pain fast… in some cases in as little as 25 minutes! Well, guess what? There is such technology and there is a very good chance it can help you… like it has already helps thousands of herniated/bulging disc and sciatica sufferers all around the country… No Matter How Bad Your Pain Is, How Long You’ve Been Suffering Or How Many Other Treatments And Doctors Have Failed You! Don’t laugh. It’s really true. Here’s proof…
When you have a herniated disc, compressive forces cause your spinal bones to come together… basically squashing your disc. The space in between your bones decreases and the soft, jello-like disc material leaks out. This disc material that leaks out is called a herniated disc and can cause severe pain, numbness and tingling in your neck, back, arms or legs when the herniation pushes into and “pinches” a nerve. So it makes sense, if you could slightly pull the spinal bones apart… that would open up the space, take the pressure off the disc, the disc off the nerve and solve the problem. Right? But the only problem is… how do you do that? For years and years, doctors have been trying to do it with traction. But traction has been proven ineffective and often very painful. Why? Traction doesn’t work because when you have a herniated or bulging disc, the area is injured and when you try to move, your muscles go into spasm. Spasm is your body’s way of trying to protect you from causing further injury. That’s why traction hurts so much. As soon as the traction starts… your muscles overprotect the area and spasm. But the good news is: Now there is technology that out-smarts your body’s natural spasm reaction. In other words: It fools mother nature! This technology is called non-surgical spinal decompression (NSSD) and here’s how it works… NSSD is very different from plain traction because it has advanced computer technology that actually senses your spinal muscles. When it starts to gently pull, it immediately knows when your muscles start to contract and it stops pulling. As soon as your muscles relax, it starts pulling again. The amazing thing is: the computer senses your muscles contraction so early… you don’t even feel what is going on. Which means you never feel any pain! In fact, the only thing most patients feel is… RELIEF!!! But the best part is: NSSD is able to gently separate your spinal bones which, in many cases, actually sucks the herniated disc material back into the disc where it belongs! This takes away your pain and allows your herniated and bulging discs to heal naturally!
And check this out: Treatments are pleasant and simple. All you have to do is lie on your back, listen to your favorite music, read a magazine… or… take a nap! The wonderful technology does everything while you simply RELAX the pain away! To sum up NSSD: • For most patients it is 100% painless… in fact many patients actually fall asleep during treatment! • Works fast! Most patients get relief after a handful of treatments – some after the very first! • Is non-invasive so it does not have the dangerous risks of surgery! • Gets to the root cause of the problem and helps it heal naturally! Isn’t modern technology wonderful? And wouldn’t you like to… Give This Great Technology A Try… For Free? If you would, there’s great news. There is a Doctor located at 222 Westchester Ave. Suite 405 in White Plains who has invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in this wonderful technology and has been treating herniated/bulging disc and sciatica patients with incredible success. His name is Dr. Jonathan Donath DC, MS and he is so excited about the results he’s been getting, he would like to share it with as many pain sufferers as possible. But There Is A Catch… There’s always a catch... isn’t there? Even though this technology has helped a majority of the patients Dr. Donath has treated… it is not a wonder cure and it does not help everyone.
On the right: healthy disc. Center: Herniated disc with soft disc material leaking out. On the left: Herniated disc material compressing or “pinching” nerve.
For that reason, Dr. Donath does a complete examination on every potential patient and only accepts you if he feels you are most likely to get the pain relief and outcome you are looking for. Dr. Donath’s Special Deal For You! Because the economy is so bad and Dr. Donath wants to help you if possible, he is offering the first 17 people who respond to this article a free consultation and NSSD qualification examination. And if you qualify for NSSD treatments, Dr. Donath will also give you one treatment for FREE! And if you do not qualify, Dr. Donath will help you find the best option for you. That’s why, if you suffer with pain from a herniated/bulging disc or sciatica you should call 914-259-8104 right now. When April answers the phone, simply tell her you would like your free non-surgical spinal decompression consultation and examination. If you are one of the first 17, she will schedule you within the next few days. If you are in a lot of pain or already scheduled for surgery, tell April and she will be sure to get you in immediately. Maybe even today.
On right: Herniated disc with spinal bones “squished” together. Center: NSSD slightly pulls the spinal bones apart, opens up the disc space and allows herniated material to move back into the disc. Left: Herniated material completely back in center of disc allows the disc to heal naturally. Your consultation and examination should take about 60 minutes. During this time you can get all of your questiones answered in a warm and friendly environment. You will know exactly what’s causing your pain and the best possible way to solve it. Dr. Donath will explain to you all your possible options along with his recomendations so you can make the best choice for YOU.
Why Limited To 17? Dr. Donath has limited the number he will accept right now to 17 because he does not believe patients should wait and they should also get the quality personal attention they deserve. When you go for your free visit, I’m sure you will see how unique and pleasant the experience is. It’s nice to be treated like a person and not a number or based on insurance coverage. It’s also nice to know exactly what’s causing your pain and how to relieve it as fast as possible. Dr. Donath’s favorite cases are the one’s that were able to cancel back surgery after only a handful of treatments. Dr. Donath also loves when a herniated disc patient that is in excruciating pain and thinks they’ve tried everything, lays down on the NSSD table, takes a 25 minute nap… and… wakes up with all their pain GONE! Just imagine how it would feel to have all your pain finally gone. Imagine going to bed and being able to sleep the entire night through… … and waking up refreshed and energized… ready to take on the brand new day – without the pain and stiffness that has been terrorizing you. And imagine finally knowing you have the solution to your herniated disc pain. Well, you may not have to just “imagine” anymore… because… NSSD might start relieving your pain… in just 25 minutes! So, if you’d like to see if you qualify and give this amazing technology a try for free… give April a call at 914-259-8104 right now. Why wait one more day in pain when the solution may be one quick phone call away? Call now before someone else gets your free spot. One More Thing It’s Important… Ever since getting this wonderful technology, Dr. Donath’s office has been flooded with calls. For that reason, if when you call, the lines are busy or you go to voice mail… just keep calling back. The possibility of living pain-free is well worth the time and effort it may take you to get through and schedule your appointment. 914-259-8104

Emotional Eating is a scary topic especially for women. It’s hard to understand, but it always seems to be lurking within us. Diets usually help us deal with what we eat, but rarely with the entire story. Even when we can control eating emotionally and lose weight, it always seems to come back to us. Emotional eating is something we have taught ourselves that will bring comfort for the emotional things that we face in life. It allows us to take our minds off the pain and feel pleasure! Sounds like a great plan! In reality the feelings are temporary and come with weight gain and unhappiness. Eating Emotionally is a learned habit that can be unlearned. The best thing is take a look at your eating triggers like stress, anxiety, sadness or even happiness and excitement. The best way to combat this is to make some lifestyle changes. Tracking your triggers and developing a strategy to reduce eating patterns you should eliminate. It may be a new gym or an exercise plan to eliminate stress. This doesn’t mean anyone is perfect. A good emotional health is having the ability to experience all of your feelings, even when they are difficult and intense. It is a process that involves learning to eat for health, but keeping your favorite foods in your life in moderation! Please use this edition for some great advice from our clients! Foot
Health
Your feet must last a lifetime, and most Americans log an amazing 75,000 miles on their feet by the time they reach age 50. Regular foot care can make sure your feet are up to the task. With proper detection, intervention, and care, most foot problems can be lessened or prevented. Use the information below to learn more common foot conditions. Arthritis
Arthritis is inflammation and swelling of the cartilage and lining of the joints, generally accompanied by an increase in the fluid in the joints. Each foot has 33 joints that can be afflicted with arthritis.

Tendinitis is the inflammation of a tendon. Achilles tendinitis, or an inflammation of the Achilles tendon, is one of the most common causes of foot or ankle pain.
Athlete's Foot
Athlete's foot is a skin disease caused by a fungus. It most commonly attacks the feet because shoes create a warm, dark, and humid environment which encourages fungus growth.
Corns and Calluses
Corns and calluses are areas of thickened skin that develop to protect that area from irritation. They are usually caused by rubbing or excess pressure against part of the foot.
Bunions
A bunion is an enlargement of the joint at the base of the big toe that forms when the bone or tissue at the big toe joint moves out of place.
Hammer Toes
A hammer toe is a contracture, or bending, of the toe at the first joint of the digit, called the proximal interphalangeal joint. This bending causes the toe to appear like an upside-down V when looked at from the side.
Toenail Fungus
Toenail fungus is an infection underneath the surface of the nail caused by fungi. The disease is characterized by a progressive change in a toenail's quality and color. courtesy of www.apma.org

THE FUTURE HAS
GREAT HAIR!!
No Pain/ No Surgery/ No Drugs/ No Side Effects…no kidding! about the author

I had trouble believing this myself, but what if I told you that there exists a recently FDA approved laser that can grow your hair back? It feels like an episode from a SciFi movie, only better because it is true, and the FDA agrees. Pioneers in laser medicine have discovered that Low Level Laser Light Therapy (known as LLLT) can resuscitate dying hair follicles and stimulate hair to grow again. How does it work? The laser heals the follicle by improving blood circulation, nutrient flow, and rate of removal of harmful DHT (from testosterone) among other positive benefits. On a cellular level, this means improved metabolism and protein synthesis, increased ATP (energy) production to repair the weakened follicle and cellular stimulation. All this means prevention of hair loss, improved hair quality and hair growth. But don’t take just my word for it, take the FDA’s. The FDA looked at data from thousands of patients who received a full treatment cycle, and they found it to be SAFE and EFFECTIVE. There is no pain, no surgery, no drugs, no side effects. And it works. This all translates into a modern day medical miracle. Very few people are not candidates for benefit from this device, whether you are young or old, male of female. (If all your hair is dormant, and your scalp is shiny bald with no inkling of remaining hair, you would have been excluded from the study). Of course, it takes a commitment to your hair. Each cycle is 20”, and you need to complete a 48 treatment cycle… so far, hair doesn’t grow from trees…but it can grow from a laser!

Connecticut Children’s Medical Center first Children’s Hospital in the Northeast to operate with newest and most advanced da Vinci Robot Surgical System Connecticut Children’s 1 of just 7 Children’s Hospitals in the Nation to utilize this equipment
The first hospital in Connecticut to perform robotic surgery on a child will soon be the first children’s hospital in the Northeast to have the most advanced robotic surgical system available for its pediatric patients. Connecticut Children’s Medical Center is the only academic medical center in the region dedicated exclusively to the care of children. And thanks to a $1.5 million grant from the Diebold Foundation, Inc., Connecticut Children’s will soon be equipped with the da Vinci Robot Xi Surgical System. The Xi system will advance robotic surgery capabilities in Connecticut and beyond. “Connecticut Children’s ability to obtain the Xi Robot will allow us to perform more complex surgeries with shorter surgical times,” said Christina Kim, MD, a pediatric urologist who is nationally and internationally recognized in the field of robotic surgery and serves as Director of Connecticut Children’s Robotic Surgery Program. “With this technology, we can expand utilization across many disciplines, including Urology, General Surgery, Gynecology, and Cardiovascular Surgery.” Robotic technology allows surgeons to perform delicate, minimally invasive procedures with pinpoint accuracy, resulting in less pain, smaller scars and faster recovery times for patients. The new and improved Xi model will replace the da Vinci S Surgical System currently in use at Connecticut Children’s.
Program launched in 2005 Connecticut Children’s launched its Robotic Surgery Program in 2005 and pioneered the first robotic sigmoid vaginal reconstruction in 2007. Since the program’s inception, Dr. Kim and her team have performed hundreds of robotic surgeries to treat a range of common and complex conditions affecting

children, as well as reconstructive surgery of the kidney, bladder and vagina. Connecticut Children’s is the first children’s hospital in the Northeast to offer this state-of-theart technology. Now, it joins an elite group of children’s hospitals across the United States offering the da Vinci Xi Surgical System, designed to improve patient safety, save costs and allow robotic surgery to be performed on smaller patients, including infants. Currently, Connecticut Children’s is one of seven children’s hospitals in the country equipped with the Xi model, a fourth generation system developed by Intuitive Surgical.
New technology benefits care The da Vinci Xi offers improved visualization with 3-D high-definition. Additionally, the Xi has many structural modifications to allow a greater range of motion than previous models. “The da Vinci Xi Surgical System serves as a natural extension of the surgeon’s eyes and hands, allowing the surgeon to see the
surgical site with true-depth perception and crystal-clear vision, while its new motion technologies allow surgeons to operate with a steady, natural motion,” Dr. Kim said. “Single-port surgeries and enhanced ergonomics are among its other features.” “We are grateful to the Diebold Foundation for this very generous gift,” said Fernando Ferrer, MD, Surgeon-in-Chief, Executive Vice President and Director of the Division of Pediatric Urology at Connecticut Children’s. “As the use of robotic-assisted surgeries continues to grow, the availability of this new technology in the hands of our skilled surgeons will help advance the benefits of robotic surgical care for our patients.” For more information, visit www.connecticutchildrens.org.

Nutrition recommendations during and after cancer treatment Healthcare News - Fairfield County April, 2016
Cancer treatment often affects a person's eating habits and nutritional needs. Although it is important for people with cancer to maintain a healthy body weight and eat nutritious foods, the side effects of surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy may cause a person to eat less and lose weight. On the other hand, some treatments may cause weight gain for some patients.
PAGE 13
Diet and nutrition during treatment
• Maintain a healthy weight. For many people, this means avoiding weight loss by getting enough calories on a daily basis. • Get essential nutrients the body needs, such as protein, carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients and water. • Be as active as you can, such as taking a daily walk. If you sit or sleep too much, you may lose muscle mass and increase your body fat, even if you are not gaining weight. • Dietary supplements, such as multivitamins and calcium • Liquid meal replacements and nutrient-dense beverages and snacks
Diet and nutrition after treatment
Cancer treatment often causes side effects, such as nausea, mouth sores, and taste changes that may make it difficult to eat or drink.
• If water tastes unpleasant to you, take in more liquid though items such as soup, tea, milk or milk substitutes, or a sports drink. Or, flavor your water by adding fresh cut fruit. • If food tastes bland, try seasoning it with spices such as garlic, cayenne, dill, and rosemary. • Eat several small meals throughout the day instead of large amounts of food at one time. • If meat is no longer appealing, get protein from foods such as fish, egg whites, cheese, beans, or high protein smoothies. • Suck on mints, chew on gum, or try fresh citrus fruits if you have a metallic taste in your mouth. Brushing your teeth before eating, using plastic utensils, and cooking in glassware can help. • If you have mouth sores or a gum infection, use a blender to make vegetables and meats smooth. Try juicing or making smoothies. courtesy of www.cancer.net
Western Connecticut Health Network launches new engagement campaign - We Know You Well! PAGE 14

Healthcare News - Fairfield County
It’s about getting to know the patient both personally and clinically so we can tailor care to their needs, through every phase of their life, regardless of their circumstances. Because We Know You Well, we can look ahead to what our patients may need in the future and be ready to serve those needs by continuing to invest in talent, science, technology and infrastructure that will improve their lives,” shared Dr. Murphy. Beyond the advertising campaign itself, WCHN has developed an entirely new unified brand identity including a new logo that symbolizes our outstanding capabilities as a network coming together to meet the unique needs of the people we serve.
Not long ago, President and CEO John M. Murphy, MD, articulated a vision for the expanding Western Connecticut Health Network (WCHN) that has become a reality: to create a regional network that provides high-value healthcare to residents of Western Connecticut and nearby New York with patient health and wellness at the center. “We take care to put the patient at the center, and take pride in keeping people well, instead of just treating the sick. At WCHN, our patients are people first; we know them from our neighborhoods, schools and communities. Those connections are what make us unique and allow us to humanize their healthcare in a very personal way,” said Dr. Murphy. Acknowledging this new vision, Western Connecticut Health Network announces a new branding campaign that is centered on personalized care without compromise. Under the new WCHN brand tagline of We Know You Well, the campaign personalizes the healthcare experience and dialogue in a way that
is relatable, placing the patient at the center of everything they do. This campaign drives our work in many new and exciting ways,” said John M. Murphy, MD, President and CEO of the Western Connecticut Health Network. “At WCHN we are committed to inspiring a healthier and happier community with programs designed to not only treat disease, but to also prevent it through education, screenings and healthy living. Beyond our walls we have an extensive network of aligned physicians and healthcare professionals working in tandem to ensure an exceptional and holistic experience for consumers at every touch point.”
A vision is now a hope-filled reality The We Know You Well campaign provides an opportunity for the Network to strengthen collective and individual roles as advocates for the health and wellness of area residents. “The new campaign reflects our focus on providing the most personalized care experience.
Acupuncture Chiropractic
It’s more than just a new logo and tagline “We Know You Well “is much more than a tagline,” said Robert Carr, MD, a longtime Primary Care physician and a member of one of the state’s largest primary and specialty care physician networks, the Western Connecticut Medical Group (WCMG). “It’s the very foundation of our culture focused on preventive and primary care.” As part of this work, Dr. Carr is spearheading nationallyrecognized care coordination models promoting proactive health discussions and primary care interaction. Complemented by the latest technology, new patient portals allow patient’s easy access to medical records and
test results for the most comprehensive look at their health portfolio. Norwalk Hospital’s Community Relations Director, Maura Romaine, shared, “I’ve worked for the hospital for many years organizing health education and outreach, so I clearly see the benefit of early engagement. I am excited that this campaign highlights the importance of engaging our consumers more fully, helping them realize their healthiest path, and also their care options when needed. This will clearly lead to better, healthier lives and I am proud to be a part of this work.” For more information, visit TheNewWCHN.org.

Lace Up and Go for Heart Health on National Walking Day
PAGE 16
April, 2016
The American Heart Association (AHA) invites you to “lace up and go” to celebrate their annual National Walking Day on Wednesday, April 6th. According to the AHA, walking 30 minutes, or 150 minutes minimum weekly, can help prevent the number one and five killers, heart disease and stroke. National Walking Day is sponsored locally by New York-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital. Why walk? Studies have suggested that moderate physical activity has many proven benefits for an individual’s overall health, such as lowering blood pressure, increasing HDL or “good” cholesterol and controlling weight. All these changes help to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke. One in three American kids and teens is overweight or obese, nearly triple the rate in 1963, and childhood obesity is now the top health concern among parents in the United States. “Whether it’s walking, running, biking, playing sports or taking an exercise class, the goal is for adults to get at least 150 minutes per week of exercise, while kids should get at least 60 minutes of physical

activity per day. We hope residents walk on National Walking Day, and continue walking every day for heart health,” said Carolyn Torella, AHA spokesperson, “The Hudson Valley has so many amazing outdoor options for walking, biking, running or playing sports. Lace up and go!”
The national AHA will kick-off the month-long campaign on National Walking Day to encourage people to adopt a healthy lifestyle by increasing their physical activity routines. Week one focuses on walking and the basic tools you need to get started. Week two and three focus on recreational provided
sports and outdoor family activities, respectively, and week four centers around stress reduction and mindful movement, such as Yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi. Download free National Walking Day resources at www.heart.org/nationalwalkingday. This year, there’s a fun way to join the national event: everyone who walks on April 6 can “donate” their minutes walked to the AHA by posting their photos and minutes walked on social media with hashtag #AHALaceUp. All minutes posted there will count toward a national total goal of 100,000 minutes walked. Updates and highlights will be posted all day at #AHALaceUp. Want to walk more while supporting the AHA’s mission and fund research? The AHA is also hosting the Putnam Heart Walk at Brewster High School on Sunday, April 24th. Occupational therapy helps individuals live life to the fullest Healthcare News - Fairfield County April, 2016
Occupational therapy enables people of all ages live life to its fullest by helping them promote health, prevent—or live better with—injury, illness, or disability. It is a practice deeply rooted in science and is evidence-based, meaning that the plan designed for each individual is supported by data, experience, and “best practices” that have been developed and proven over time. Occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants focus on “doing” whatever occupations or activities are meaningful to the individual. It is occupational therapy’s purpose to get beyond problems to the solutions that assure living life to its fullest. These solutions may be adaptations for how to do a task, changes to the surroundings, or helping individuals to alter their own behaviors. When working with an occupational therapy practitioner, strategies and modifications are customized for each individual to resolve problems, improve function, and support everyday living activities. The goal is to maximize potential. Through these therapeutic approaches, occupational therapy helps individuals design their lives, develop needed skills, adjust their environments (e,g., home, school, or work) and build health-promoting habits and routines that will allow them to thrive.
By taking the full picture into account—a person’s psychological, physical, emotional, and social makeup as well as their environment—occupational therapy assists clients to do the following: • Achieve goals
• Function at the highest possible level
• Concentrate on what matters most to them • Maintain or rebuild their independence
• Participate in daily activities that they need or want to do.
Founded in 1917, the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) represents the interests and concerns of more than 140,000 occupational therapists, assistants and students nationwide. The Association educates the public and advances the profession of occupational therapy by providing resources, setting standards including accreditations and serving as an advocate to improve health care. Based in Bethesda, Md., AOTA’s major programs and activities are directed toward promoting the professional development of its members and assuring consumer access to quality services so patients can maximize their individual potential. The 10 most functional foods in the world that destroy cancer cells PAGE 20
April, 2016
Healthcare News - Fairfield County
By now, it shouldn’t be a secret that there are specific proteins, enzymes and other coding within our bodies that can be activated to stop cancer cells dead in their tracks. Every day, more and more people (including doctors and scientists) are learning about the powers of specific foods and the role they play in our diet to both prevent and fight diseases. When it comes to cancer – which is such a widespread problem, so it naturally garners more attention – there are certain foods and compounds contained within certain foods that are thought to destroy cancer cells, along with having numerous other health benefits. Below are 10 of the most functional foods in the world that destroy cancer cells.
1: Grapes and Resveratrol (found in Wine) Resveratrol, the powerful ingredient found in grapes and wine, is an extremely powerful antioxidant. It is known for its ability to inhibit cyclooxygenase-2 (CoX-2) production, which is related to cancers and other types of non-malignant tumors/growths in the intestinal tract. Organically-occurring CoX-2 inhibitors such as resveratrol have been shown to decrease the incidence of cancer along with pre-cancerous growths. So maybe that extra glass of wine isn’t so bad after all!
2: Sea Vegetables If you’ve never had an interest in sampling one of the many vegetables found in the sea, you might want to think about giving them a try. Sea vegetables such as Nori, Arame, Kombu and Wakame are examples of sea vegetables that can help fight cancer. These tasty sea vegetables contain a variety of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds that will help prevent and reverse the damage done by foods and other factors that cause inflammation and oxidative stress – two known contributing factors to many types of cancers.
3: Garlic A study published online in the journal Cancer Prevention Research details how garlic has been used since around 2000 BC in ancient Chinese medicine. The study suggests that a compound found in garlic called diallyl sulfide is one of the key ingredients in garlic that gives it cancer-fighting powers. Another compound found in garlic called Allicin is considered to be one of the most powerful antioxidants known to man. Powerful antioxidants – along with having many other health benefits – are though to be a contributing factor in the destruction of certain types of cancers.
4: Green Tea Green tea owes its cancer-destroying abilities to a group of plant flavonoids it contains known as catechins. One of these catechins – epigallocatechin-3-O-gallate (EGCG) – has been shown to create a process that disrupts the ability of inflammatory chemicals to bind to the cells of smooth muscle tissues found within the vascular system. This is a critical function of the catechin, because the same process is known to disrupt the development of cancer cells.
5: Turmeric (spice) The prized ingredient in the spice Turmeric is Curcumin, and it is typically found in most Indian dishes. Curcumin is considered to be an extremely powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory that reduces the metastases of tumors and thus can destroy cancer cells, along with preventing the growth and spread of cancer cells in the first place. A popular research study at Johns Hopkins reviewed and summarized over 700 studies on Turmeric and concluded that it outperforms many pharmaceutical drugs in its effects on a number of chronic diseases – and does so without almost zero side effects. 6: Cruciferous Vegetables Cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, arugula, cabbage, cauliflower and kale (to name just a few) contain organic chemical compounds known as glucosinolates. Apart from being extremely high in a number of important vitamins, minerals and enzymes that our body craves on a daily basis, these cruciferous vegetables are known to create compounds (thanks to the glucosinolates) which can fight cancer. You may not love your veggies, but you should certainly try and make them a part of your daily diet!
7: Hempseed Oil Hemp oil is known to speed up the healing process throughout the body and also raise melatonin levels. Melatonin has been shown to reduce or even completely stop the growth of certain types of cancers, so the extra production of it thanks to hemp oil is a great asset in your body’s fight against cancer. Hemp oil can be consumed through gel-caps or even directly out of the bottle. 8: Mushrooms There are over 50 different species of mushrooms that have anti-viral and anticancer effects which have been proven through numerous in-vitro and animal research studies. Mushrooms have been used for over 5,000 years in ancient and traditional medicines due to their powerful effects on a number of diseases and conditions – including cancer.
9: Ginger Certain compounds found within Ginger make it a powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxdiant, which means it works to reduce the oxidative stress and inflammation that your body has to fight on a daily basis. Studies have shown that Ginger can reduce cancerous tumors by as much as 56% and have also shown it to be a more effective remedy than traditional medical treatments like chemotherapy in the case of certain types of cancers.
10: Tomatoes Tomatoes contain Lycopene, a compound known for its ability to destroy cancer cells. They can help reduce inflammation and oxidative stress throughout the body and one study showed that inflammation was reduced by 30% from simply consuming 1 glass of fresh tomato juice per day for a month straight.

What do doctors do to treat their own pain? PAGE 22
April, 2016
Healthcare News - Westchester Healthcare News - Fairfield County
As a board-certified internist who has been in practice for over 13 years, I spend much of my time attempting to alleviate the pain and suffering of my patients. As a clinician, one of the biggest challenges I face is helping my patients deal with musculoskeletal and neuropathic pain syndromes—those all-too-common, yet frequently debilitating ailments caused by bad backs, pinched nerves, arthritis, and the like. Unfortunately, much of what I have to offer my patients boils down to the following: take a pain pill, stretch if you can, wait, and hope for the best. After a failed trial of “conservative” therapy a call might go out to the orthopedic surgeon for assistance; a truly satisfactory result is not common. The simple fact is that physicians are not well trained to deal with musculoskeletal pain, and patients can suffer as a result. Thankfully, my views on this topic have been turned completely upside down since I havepersonally discovered Dr. Jonathan Donath’s outstanding practice. After beginning a vigorous exercise regimen I started to experience awful neck and upper back pain, accompanied by numbness and tingling down my left arm and fingers. For weeks I tried to nurse the pain with non steroidal anti-inflammatory medication, but the pain persisted and got to the point that I was almost unable to work, sleep, or most importantly, play guitar. I wasliterally in tears from the excruciating pain. A neurosurgeon diagnosed a herniated disc and pinched nerve in my neck and offered to decompress it with an operation. In desperation I called Dr. Donath instead. My visit to Dr. Donath’s office was an outstanding experience. He spent about an hour with me and combined multiple modalities to fix the herniated disc in my neck: deep massage, active release techniques, traditional manipulation, cold therapy, and finally spinal decompression. After that first hour with Dr. Donath my pain had decreased from a 10/10 down to a manageable 4/10, and I was able to comfortably move my head and neck. That very night I was able to play guitar again. Two days later I went back for another series of treatments and the pain decreased even further. After about five days the pain was absolutely gone. Unbelievable! Since then he has used the same wonderful techniques to help me overcome painful bouts of sciatica as well. My own patients and family members have become “believers” in Dr. Donath’s abilities as well--- the results he achieves are real and lasting. He is my go to guy for the majority of musculoskeletal and neuropathic pain syndromes that I now realize are truly treatable. Dr. Robert Sidlow MD, Associate Professor of Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine
I am a pediatrician and in my work, I have to bend down a lot and I’m constantly lifting kids. I usually have one to three bad flare ups of low back pain every year. When my back would "go out", I could barely walk to the bathroom and would have to lie down in bed for a few days. I have tried everything: doing nothing and "toughing it out", muscle relaxants, physical therapy, chiropractic, therapeutic massage, and even painful steroid injections. Nothing worked. When I moved to Westchester, I met Dr. Jonathan Donath. In just a couple of sessions with Dr. Donath, the pain completely disappeared. If it hadn't happened to me, I wouldn't have believed it. During my last flare up, I was expecting to be on my back for 2-3 days and in pain for 2 weeks. Instead, after one session with Dr. Donath, I was able to walk; two more sessions and I was fine. I could walk, bend down and I had almost no pain. Since that last back episode, Dr. Donath has helped me with my tendonitis in my right hand and with my chronic knee problems. I recommend Dr. Donath to everyone with back, muscle or joint pain. Even if you have not had relief with other treatments and other Chiropractors, give Dr. Donath a chance. I did and he changed my life. Eugene Dinkevich MD, Mount Vernon, NY It’s my great pleasure to write about Westchester Spinal Decompression Center. I really don’t have words to express my feelings about the care I got in last 3 months. I was almost handicapped, living with terrible pain all the time, crippling my day to day life. I am a medical doctor and work in a hospital with all sorts of amazing physicians, but after seeing a physical therapist, getting epidural steroids injections, many orthopedists and neurosurgeons, finally my destination lead me to see Dr Jonathan Donath. With great skepticism, I lied down for spinal decompression therapy. It was unbelievable that after only two initial sessions, my radiating pain down my leg had almost disappeared. Gradually, I started getting better, started doing exercises that they gave me midway through the treatment. Now, I am doing all my daily activities without any pain. I highly recommend Dr Jonathan and his colleague Dr Kavita for any problems related to the musculoskeletal system, you will definitely feel at home and will get better.
