After helping hundreds of Westchester County herniated disc sufferers eliminated their pain, Local Doctor explains how…
“Back Pain Technology Cheats Mother Nature Helps Herniated Discs Heal Naturally… In As Little As 25 Minutes!” At Last! Westchester County Doctor Offers Technology That Doesn’t Just End SEVERE Pain From Herniated Discs, But Helps Your Body To Start Rebuilding Them… As Fast As Humanly Possible! Best Part: You can check it all out for FREE if you like! There is no doubt… technology has made all of our lives better… and easier. Just about every miraculous medical cure and comfort of modern living can be attributed to amazing breakthroughs in technology. Heck, laser eye surgery can give people who are almost as blind as a bat perfect 20/20 vision. How amazing is that? That’s why it’s no surprise that technology might be able to solve your back and neck pain from herniated/bulging discs or sciatica…for good. Here is why: Back and neck pain can be devastating. And nothing is worse than going to doctor after doctor… trying treatment after treatment… spending money you can’t afford… and still suffering in pain. That’s why… I bet you would love to instantly end your pain… without any risk what-soever… and have it never come back for the rest of your life? Well, that might NOT be so easy. But, what if there was a wonderful advancement in technology that, with a handful of simple, non-invasive treatments, could possibly have you out of pain and on your way to healing naturally? Better yet, what if this technology could possibly heal your herniated/bulging discs (instead of cutting it out like surgery) so you have the best chance to live pain-free and do all the things you want and love to do? And what if this technology was: 3 FDA cleared! 3 Proven safe and effective! 3 Allows your herniated discs to heal naturally without the risky and dangerous side effects of surgery! 3 Relieves pain fast… in some cases in as little as 25 minutes! Well, guess what? There is such technology and there is a very good chance it can help you… like it has already helps thousands of herniated/bulging disc and sciatica sufferers all around the country… No Matter How Bad Your Pain Is, How Long You’ve Been Suffering Or How Many Other Treatments And Doctors Have Failed You! Don’t laugh. It’s really true. Here’s proof…
When you have a herniated disc, compressive forces cause your spinal bones to come together… basically squashing your disc. The space in between your bones decreases and the soft, jello-like disc material leaks out. This disc material that leaks out is called a herniated disc and can cause severe pain, numbness and tingling in your neck, back, arms or legs when the herniation pushes into and “pinches” a nerve. So it makes sense, if you could slightly pull the spinal bones apart… that would open up the space, take the pressure off the disc, the disc off the nerve and solve the problem. Right? But the only problem is… how do you do that? For years and years, doctors have been trying to do it with traction. But traction has been proven ineffective and often very painful. Why? Traction doesn’t work because when you have a herniated or bulging disc, the area is injured and when you try to move, your muscles go into spasm. Spasm is your body’s way of trying to protect you from causing further injury. That’s why traction hurts so much. As soon as the traction starts… your muscles overprotect the area and spasm. But the good news is: Now there is technology that out-smarts your body’s natural spasm reaction. In other words: It fools mother nature! This technology is called non-surgical spinal decompression (NSSD) and here’s how it works… NSSD is very different from plain traction because it has advanced computer technology that actually senses your spinal muscles. When it starts to gently pull, it immediately knows when your muscles start to contract and it stops pulling. As soon as your muscles relax, it starts pulling again. The amazing thing is: the computer senses your muscles contraction so early… you don’t even feel what is going on. Which means you never feel any pain! In fact, the only thing most patients feel is… RELIEF!!! But the best part is: NSSD is able to gently separate your spinal bones which, in many cases, actually sucks the herniated disc material back into the disc where it belongs! This takes away your pain and allows your herniated and bulging discs to heal naturally!
And check this out: Treatments are pleasant and simple. All you have to do is lie on your back, listen to your favorite music, read a magazine… or… take a nap! The wonderful technology does everything while you simply RELAX the pain away! To sum up NSSD: • For most patients it is 100% painless… in fact many patients actually fall asleep during treatment! • Works fast! Most patients get relief after a handful of treatments – some after the very first! • Is non-invasive so it does not have the dangerous risks of surgery! • Gets to the root cause of the problem and helps it heal naturally! Isn’t modern technology wonderful? And wouldn’t you like to… Give This Great Technology A Try… For Free? If you would, there’s great news. There is a Doctor located at 222 Westchester Ave. Suite 405 in White Plains who has invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in this wonderful technology and has been treating herniated/bulging disc and sciatica patients with incredible success. His name is Dr. Jonathan Donath DC, MS and he is so excited about the results he’s been getting, he would like to share it with as many pain sufferers as possible. But There Is A Catch… There’s always a catch... isn’t there? Even though this technology has helped a majority of the patients Dr. Donath has treated… it is not a wonder cure and it does not help everyone.
On the right: healthy disc. Center: Herniated disc with soft disc material leaking out. On the left: Herniated disc material compressing or “pinching” nerve.
For that reason, Dr. Donath does a complete examination on every potential patient and only accepts you if he feels you are most likely to get the pain relief and outcome you are looking for. Dr. Donath’s Special Deal For You! Because the economy is so bad and Dr. Donath wants to help you if possible, he is offering the first 17 people who respond to this article a free consultation and NSSD qualification examination. And if you qualify for NSSD treatments, Dr. Donath will also give you one treatment for FREE! And if you do not qualify, Dr. Donath will help you find the best option for you. That’s why, if you suffer with pain from a herniated/bulging disc or sciatica you should call 914-259-8104 right now. When Barbara answers the phone, simply tell her you would like your free non-surgical spinal decompression consultation and examination. If you are one of the first 17, she will schedule you within the next few days. If you are in a lot of pain or already scheduled for surgery, tell Barbara and she will be sure to get you in immediately. Maybe even today.
On right: Herniated disc with spinal bones “squished” together. Center: NSSD slightly pulls the spinal bones apart, opens up the disc space and allows herniated material to move back into the disc. Left: Herniated material completely back in center of disc allows the disc to heal naturally. Your consultation and examination should take about 60 minutes. During this time you can get all of your questiones answered in a warm and friendly environment. You will know exactly what’s causing your pain and the best possible way to solve it. Dr. Donath will explain to you all your possible options along with his recomendations so you can make the best choice for YOU.
Why Limited To 17? Dr. Donath has limited the number he will accept right now to 17 because he does not believe patients should wait and they should also get the quality personal attention they deserve. When you go for your free visit, I’m sure you will see how unique and pleasant the experience is. It’s nice to be treated like a person and not a number or based on insurance coverage. It’s also nice to know exactly what’s causing your pain and how to relieve it as fast as possible. Dr. Donath’s favorite cases are the one’s that were able to cancel back surgery after only a handful of treatments. Dr. Donath also loves when a herniated disc patient that is in excruciating pain and thinks they’ve tried everything, lays down on the NSSD table, takes a 25 minute nap… and… wakes up with all their pain GONE! Just imagine how it would feel to have all your pain finally gone. Imagine going to bed and being able to sleep the entire night through… … and waking up refreshed and energized… ready to take on the brand new day – without the pain and stiffness that has been terrorizing you. And imagine finally knowing you have the solution to your herniated disc pain. Well, you may not have to just “imagine” anymore… because… NSSD might start relieving your pain… in just 25 minutes! So, if you’d like to see if you qualify and give this amazing technology a try for free… give Barbara a call at 914-259-8104 right now. Why wait one more day in pain when the solution may be one quick phone call away? Call now before someone else gets your free spot. One More Thing It’s Important… Ever since getting this wonderful technology, Dr. Donath’s office has been flooded with calls. For that reason, if when you call, the lines are busy or you go to voice mail… just keep calling back. The possibility of living pain-free is well worth the time and effort it may take you to get through and schedule your appointment. 914-259-8104

Trick or Treat! Stay safe doing it! Of course, you know that Halloween is an exciting time of the year for children. After all, you will witness them bouncing off the walls in the days leading up to Halloween. And that’s before they start eating all the candy. Halloween is fun and exciting, but it should also be safe. Here are some tips to make sure your Halloween is a safe holiday. MAKE HOME SAFE • To keep homes safe for visiting trick-or-treaters, parents should remove from the porch and front yard anything a child could trip over such as garden hoses, toys, bikes and lawn decorations. • Parents should check outdoor lights and replace burned-out bulbs. • Wet leaves or snow should be swept from sidewalks and steps. • Restrain pets so they do not inadvertently jump on or bite a trick-or-treater. ON THE TRICK-OR-TREAT TRAIL • A parent or responsible adult should always accompany young children on their neighborhood rounds. • If your older children are going alone, plan and review the route that is acceptable to you. Agree on a specific time when they should return home. • Only go to homes with a porch light on and never enter a home or car for a treat. • Stay in a group and communicate where they will be going. • Carry a cellphone for quick communication. • Remain on well-lit streets and always use the sidewalk. • Never cut across yards or use alleys. • Don’t assume the right of way. Motorists may have trouble seeing Trick-or-Treaters. Just because one car stops, doesn’t mean others will!
Top Pediatric Dentist in Westchester 5 years and counting!
ALL DRESSED UP • Plan costumes that are bright and reflective. Make sure that shoes fit well and that costumes are short enough to prevent tripping, entanglement or contact with flame. • Consider adding reflective tape or striping to costumes and trick-or-treat bags for greater visibility. • Because masks can limit or block eyesight, consider non-toxic makeup and decorative hats as safer alternatives. Hats should fit properly to prevent them from sliding over eyes. • When shopping for costumes, wigs and accessories look for and purchase those with a label clearly indicating they are flame resistant. • Teach children how to call 9-1-1 (or their local emergency number) if they have an emergency or become lost.
• Child-friendly environment and caring staff • Physically and emotionally challenged children welcome • State-of-the-art technology and sterilization techniques • New Laser Technology—Now Your kids CAN have their •

We have a request for you, our loyal and much appreciated readers: If you don’t own an item of pink clothing, whether it be a hat, sweatshirt or pair of socks, go out and purchase something pink. Why? October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. As you might know, the color pink has become synonymous with Breast Cancer Awareness Month. You know the movement has caught on when during the NFL games in the month of October, players showcase pink gloves, pink ribbons and pink towels for the millions of fans that watch every Sunday. According to Cancer.org, breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women, except for skin cancers. About 1 in 8 women in the United States will develop invasive breast cancer during their lifetime. Here in Westchester County, our families, our mothers, wives, daughters and sisters have been affected by the disease. National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and a special time for to promote breast cancer awareness and provide information on the disease. Established in 1985, this awareness month, now an international health observance, has from the start aimed to promote a mammography as the most effective weapon in the fight against breast cancer. Most of us have been touched by breast cancer in some way. So it’s time for you to be pretty, or handsome, in pink. Even better, you don’t have to wear your pink garb only in October. Sport it all year to support the wonderful cause. We always welcome telling these stories and please let us know if you have one for us. Thank you for reading. Look forward to hearing from you. If you're suffering from nerve problems in the arms and legs, you must read about a clinical study that showed
How 85% of Patients eliminated Numbness, Tingling, or Sharp Pains Numbness, tingling, and pain are extremely annoying problems. It may come and go...interrupts your sleep...and even makes your arm or legs feel weak at times. Maybe you've even been to other doctors and they claim all the tests indicate you should feel fine.
If You Read Nothing else, Read This: More than 20 million Americans suffer from peripheral neuropathy, a problem caused by damage to the nerves that supply your arms and legs. This painful condition interferes with your body's ability to transmit messages to your muscles, skin, joints, or internal organs. If ignored or mistreated, neuropathy can lead to irreversible health conditions. Why not get help by those trained to correct the major cause of peripheral neuropathy. Read the full facts on this page. More Pills Are Not the Solution A common treatment for many nerve problems is the 'take some pills and wait and see' method. While this may be necessary for temporary relief of severe symptoms, using them long term is no way to live. Some of the more common drugs given include pain pills, anti-seizure mediations, and anti-depressants -- all of which have serious side effects. The Likely Cause of Your Problem My name is Dr. Alex Hilario, clinic director at Chiropractic Rehabilitation Source. I've been helping people with neuropathy and nerve problems for more than 10 years.
Often neuropathy is caused by a degenerating spine pressing on the nerve roots. This can happen in any of the vertebral joints from the neck all the way down to the tail bone. The good news is that chiropractic treatments have proven effective in helping to remove the pressure on the nerves. By using gentle techniques, I'm able to release the pressure that has built up on the nerve. This allows the nerve to heal and the symptoms to go away. For example, numerous studies have proven chiropractic's effectiveness in helping nerve conditions. Patients showed an 85.5% resolution of the nerve symptoms after only 9 chiropractic treatments. - Journal of Chiropractic Medicine 2008 With chiropractic care, patients had “significant improvement in perceived comfort and function, nerve conduction and finger sensation overall.” – JMPT 1998 “Significant increase in grip strength and normalization of motor and sensory latencies were noted. Orthopedic tests were negative. Symptoms dissipated.” – JMPT 1994 What these studies mean is that you could soon be enjoying life...without those aggravating nerve problems. Could This Be Your Solution? It’s time for you to find out if chiropractic will be your neuropathy solution.
• An in-depth consultation about your health and well-being where I will listen…really listen…to the details of your case. • A complete neuromuscular examination. • A thorough analysis of your exam and x-ray findings so we can start mapping out your plan to being pain free. • I'll answer your most probing questions about nerve problems and how chiropractic can help. Until November 30, 2014 you can get everything I’ve listed here for only $47. The normal price for this type of evaluation is $250, so you’re saving a considerable amount by taking me up on this offer. Call 914-584-6864 now. Don’t put it off, schedule a well woman exam every year Admit it: From time to time, you put off your well woman exam. In fact, you might be past due for one right now. So here’s what we want you to do: Put down this informative newspaper for a minute and call your physician to schedule one. The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) recommends an annual well-woman exam even though most women no longer need an annual Pap test. Because the Pap test was part of the annual exam for so many years, a lot of women are confused as to why they still need to see their Ob/Gyn yearly. Here are seven reasons why the well-woman exam is still and always will be a critical part of women’s preventative care.
Women’s Health
Overall Health Assessment: A physical exam is conducted to assess you overall health which include blood pressure, weight, and body mass index, palpation of the abdomen and lymph nodes, and an assessment of the patient’s overall mental health. This assessment is important to maintaining a healthy lifestyle and minimizing health risks.
Clinical Breast Exam: ACOG and the American Cancer Society and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, recommend CBEs every one to three years for women ages 20–39. ACOG also recommends annual clinical breast exams and annual mammograms for women age 40 and older. Early detection is the best way to prevent cancer.
Pelvic Exam: ACOG recommends an annual pelvic exam starting at age 21 for asymptomatic women. A pelvic exam helps your provider evaluate the size and position of the vagina, cervix, uterus, and ovaries. A pelvic exam is done to help detect certain cancers in their early stages, infections, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), or other reproductive system problems.
Cervical Cancer Screening: The best way to prevent cervical cancer is to follow ACOG guidelines for pap tests and HPV testing. Though many women do not need these tests annually, if you’ve had irregular pap tests in the past, you may still need them annually or more frequently. If you have not had abnormal results in the past, you still need to be tested every three to five years.
Contraceptive Counseling: Your provider will discuss what, if any, contraceptives you wish to use. This discussion will include different ways to prevent pregnancy, how contraceptives work, and how it fits your lifestyle. Menopause and Midlife Counseling: If you are over age 45 or having perimenopausal symptoms, your health care provider will provide information on risks and benefits of different therapies. He/ she will also discuss lifestyle habits that affect perimenopause/menopause symptoms. STI counseling: Sexually active women may receive annual counseling on sexually transmitted infections (STIs). This may include necessary blood or urine tests to screen for STIs.

The bad habits that make you, gasp, fat We are so busy in a day that we often fail to realize whether we skip meals or eat a lot more than needed. Insufficient amounts of sleep, the skipping of meals or overeating are the aftereffects of stress. They are contributing reasons why a person would gain weight, too. Here are some ways you may be sabotaging your waistline without knowing it. eating “low fat” foods Foods that are labeled low-fat or fat free can save you a few calories, but they often do this by replacing fat with sugar and other chemicals which are worse. They digest more quickly, leave you with a sugar crash and feeling hungry faster.

Nine Tips for Breast Cancer Prevention October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a movement that continues to grow, bringing much-needed attention to the disease. The month serves as a celebration of brave breast cancer survivors and those bravely battling the disease. Prevention is also key to National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and fighting the disease all year.
Here are nine breast cancer prevention tips: 1. Avoid becoming overweight. Obesity raises the risk of breast cancer after menopause, the time of life when breast cancer most often occurs. Avoid gaining weight over time, and try to maintain a body-mass index under 25. 2. Eat healthy to avoid tipping the scale. Embrace a diet high in vegetables and fruit and low in sugared drinks, refined carbohydrates and fatty foods. Eat lean protein such as fish or chicken breast and eat red meat in moderation, if at all. Eat whole grains. Choose vegetable oils over animal fats. 3. Keep physically active. Research suggests that increased physical activity, even when begun later in life, reduces overall breast-cancer risk by about 10 percent to 30 percent. All it takes is moderate exercise like a 30-minute walk five days a week to get this protective effect. 4. Drink little or no alcohol. Alcohol use is associated with an increased risk of breast cancer. Women should limit intake to no more than one drink per day, regardless of the type of alcohol.
Know the signs of breast cancer Breast health with regular self-breast exams and recommended screenings based on age and risk factors are essential. Often an early sign of breast cancer is an abnormality found on your mammogram before it can be felt. Common signs of breast cancer include a lump in the breast, an abnormal thickening of the breast, and/or a change in the shape or color of the breast. Other signs of breast cancer include: New, hard lump or thickening in any part of the breast
5. Avoid hormone replacement therapy. Menopausal hormone therapy increases risk for breast cancer. If you must take hormones to manage menopausal symptoms, avoid those that contain progesterone and limit their use to less than three years. “Bioidentical hormones” and hormonal creams and gels are no safer than prescription hormones and should also be avoided. 6. Consider taking an estrogen-blocking drug. Women with a family history of breast cancer or who are over age 60 should talk to their doctor about the pros and cons of estrogen-blocking drugs such as tamoxifen and raloxifene. 7. Consider taking the aromatase inhibitor exemestane. The results of a study released earlier this year showed that the drug exemestane reduced the risk of breast cancer by 65 percent in high-risk, postmenopausal women. Talk to your doctor about whether this may benefit you. 8. Don’t smoke. Research suggests that long-term smoking is associated with increased risk of breast cancer in some women. 9. Breast-feed your babies for as long as possible. Women who breast-feed their babies for at least a year in total have a reduced risk of developing breast cancer later.
Change in the breast size or shape Puckering or dimpling of the skin of the breast Swelling, redness or warmth on the breast that doesn’t go away Pain in one spot on the breast that does not vary with your monthly cycle Depression or indentation of the nipple Nipple discharge that begins suddenly and/or appears in only one breast An itchy, sore or scaling area on one nipple

The Importance of Elder Law: You must protect your assets, family and future now! For nearly 30 years, practicing law has been Ely Rosenzveig’s passion. His inspiration? That comes from, among other things, his life experiences, the people he has met, and the clients he works with every day. The widow who didn’t have a will and was concerned about her financial future. The family that was reeling from health issues impacting their elderly loved ones without any planning in place to address their needs, leaving them with the prospect of exorbitantly expensive care needs. Ely Rosenzveig was a rabbi in Westchester County. The plight of some in his congregation moved him to practice elder law and trust and estate planning. He would become a senior partner at one of the foremost elder law firms in the country, but left to join hands with his son, Ariel. “I really jumped at the opportunity to work in this area of law,” Ely Rosenzveig said. “I think it’s special kind of work. To help people and work with your son is incredibly rewarding. Ariel is a great asset – a wonderful and gifted young attorney.” The law firm of Ely J. Rosenzveig & Associates, P.C. in White Plains practices in all areas of elder law, including trust and
estate planning, administration, and litigation, tax counsel, asset protection and special needs planning, Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security disability benefits, guardianships, long term care planning, spousal recovery claims, and Medicaid lien resolutions. Father and son pride themselves on an unyielding commitment to the zealous advocacy of their clients’ interests. Estate planning is one of the most important steps any person can take to make sure that their final property and health care wishes are honored, and that loved ones are provided for in their absence. A comprehensive estate plan can resolve a number of legal questions that arise whenever anyone dies. Appropriate estate and Medicaid planning can help preserve assets, reduce taxes, and help individuals qualify for Medicaid. “People don’t want to talk about illness and death,” Ariel Rosenzveig said. “It’s a tough subject. People are reluctant, but the type of measures that we implement for our clients can save them and their loved ones a lot of money. Proper planning will help provide financial and emotional security for all involved.”
The firm is very experienced in making sure that those eligible for Medicaid and Medicare get the benefits they deserve. Ely J. Rosenzveig & Associates, P.C. has been very successful in negotiating the complex bureaucratic minefield in which Medicaid is now mired, a dynamic only exacerbated with the passage of the Deficit reduction Act of 2006, and the new rules regarding the look-back requirements, and penalty period calculations for non-Medicaid exempt asset transfers. The firm has achieved remarkable results for clients on a host of Medicaid related issues, from getting Medicaid approvals for coverage of home care and institutional care benefits, to very accommodative resolutions of Medicaid spousal recovery claims, where the office of Medicaid aggressively pursues the non-institutionalized (i.e., or “community”) spouse for Medicaid benefits provided. No matter what the case, Ely J. Rosenzveig & Associates, P.C. prides itself on working with each client individually, catering to each one’s diverse needs. Estate planning should begin at a young age with a will, health care proxy, living
will and durable power of attorney. As you grow older and accumulate assets, it is especially important that you speak with an experience elder law attorney issues pertaining to issues concerning Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and further estate planning. Elder law is about more than just saving money. When viewed properly, elder law is about two major things: First, ensuring that your personal wishes — financial, medical, and legal — are carried out; and second, understanding that elder law is a family matter affecting an intricate web of individual relationships. Knowing that your potential long-term care needs have already been addressed frees you and your family from needless worry. And Ely and Ariel Rosenzveig are there to help their cherished clients every step of the way. “We want every client to feel like they are our only client,” Ely Rosenzveig said. “We are totally committed to ensuring that we be fully responsive to our clients’ every need. For us, this is tremendously rewarding. It is the very reason why we have become elder law attorneys.”

Alternative options: Help fight breast cancer naturally As many as half of all women with breast cancer incorporate an alternative or lifestyle therapy into their treatment regimen. However, there’s an overwhelming amount of options, but not a lot of information about which are most beneficial. Complementary treatment can help some women lessen the side effects of radiation and chemotherapy. Some employ it to help reduce the stress of treatment. Complementary treatment also helps women with breast cancer feel empowered. Here are some alternative treatments most likely to be recommended by oncologists, according to research by Healthcare News. 1. Melatonin: A hormone produced at night by the pineal gland, melatonin, when taken as a supplement, revs the immune system. It also enhances the effect of Tamoxifen, a drug used to reduce the odds of breast cancer in women at high risk and also as a treatment for those who have been diagnosed. The dose used for cancer - 10 to 20 milligrams a day is more than the amount used as a slumber aid, but it shouldn’t leave you tired.
4. Vitamin D: Research suggests that having low blood levels of vitamin D may raise your breast cancer odds. Among the theories as to why Vitamin D helps: It boosts immune system activity, reduces the tendency of abnormal cells to proliferate (a hallmark of cancer), and helps prevent precancerous cells from turning rogue cancer cells. Aim for a total of 1,200 IU to 2,000 each day.
3. Green Tea: Some research shows that consumption of green tea may cut the chances of cancer recurrence. One study of women treated for early breast cancer suggests that you need eight cups each day to reduce such risk. You can get the equivalent in green tea supplements. 2. Walking: A little exercise can tip the chances of survival in your favor. Women who walked briskly two to three
hours a week in the year prior to their diagnosis were 31 percent less likely to die of the disease than their less active peers. 5. Black Cohosh: Research is conflicting, but there appear to be components in this herb that slow the rate at which cancer cells divide and prods them to self-destruct. Some data suggests it can lower risk of recurrence; ask your doctor if you’re candidate.

gIRL POWeR! Don’t just survive...THRIVe!!! It seems like it was just yesterday when your doctor uttered those gut wrenching words, “You have breast cancer.” According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, no matter your race or ethnicity. The good news is that over the past decade treatment options like mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation have significantly decreased breast cancer related deaths.
Physical therapists are movement experts. All other body parts that are reconstructed can be rehabilitated by physical therapists. The breast should not be an exception. They can teach you exercises that will stretch and strengthen the muscles of the chest, back, shoulders and arms to:
Flash forward to present day. You are in remission, and have endured surgeries and treatments that have given you a second chance at life. But why stop there? Surviving isn’t enough, now it’s your time to THRIVE!
Written by Dr. Stacey Rittenberg, PT, DPT, NCS, co-founder of A Healthier You Physical Therapy, LLP -a personalized home physical therapy and wellness company. For more information about upcoming AHYPT seminars and physical therapy services please call (914) 458-2249.
Decrease chest pain and stiffness Help you regain arm and shoulder flexibility Reduce your risk of lymphedema (chronic swelling in the arm) Improve breathing mechanics and aerobic endurance to combat fatigue Improve posture and body mechanics to prevent future rotator cuff injury Exercise not only improves your emotional well-being, but can help to decrease many side effects of your cancer treatment, so you can move better, feel better and live better!
Many breast cancer-related surgeries can affect how well you can move your arm, take a deep breath, or do your daily activities. Mastectomy (surgery to remove a breast) and reconstructive surgery entails relocating part of a muscle from your back or abdomen to reconstruct the breast. Getting out of bed, lifting and carrying, reaching overhead, and household chores may become more difficult following surgery. Chemotherapy leaves most women feeling exhausted and radiation treatments can cause swelling, nerve irritation, and pain. What can you do to minimize the side effects and get back to living your life? EXERCISE! Sounds simple enough, but some exercises should not be done until drains and sutures (stitches) are removed. It is a good idea to speak with your physician before beginning any exercise program, especially following surgery. Once you have been given the green light, consulting with a physical therapist can ensure you are doing the right exercises and achieve desired results.

Phelps is first hospital in the region to install the Invenia™ aBUS Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow is the first hospital in the Hudson Valley Region to install the Invenia Automated Breast Ultrasound System developed by GE Health Care to provide more accurate cancer diagnosis in women with dense breasts. As an adjunct to mammography, ultrasound has been proven to find more cancers in women with dense breasts than mammograms alone. “Phelps prides itself on keeping up with cutting-edge technologies and we are very excited to integrate ABUS into our mammography program,” noted Michael Glennon, Senior Administrative Director of Ancillary Services at Phelps. “This highly sophisticated system is more efficient than the traditional ultrasound exam. It will significantly enhance our diagnostic capabilities and potentially improve outcomes for our patients.” The Invenia ABUS uses 3D ultrasound technology to quickly take detailed images of dense breast tissue. To ensure the highest level of comfort and image quality,
ABUS uses a scanner that conforms to a woman’s anatomy and is applied with light compression to the breast. The launch of this improved technology comes at a critical time when there is growing awareness of the increased risk of cancer for women with high breast density. Studies have shown that women with dense breast tissue may be as much as 4-6 times more likely to develop breast cancer than women who do not have dense breast tissue. Phelps is designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology’s Commission on Quality and Safety and the Commission on Breast Imaging. This designation means that Phelps breast services have achieved accreditation in mammography, breast ultrasound, stereotactic breast biopsy and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy, and all of these services meet the highest national standards. For more information on mammography at Phelps call 914-366-3440.

How Doctors can “jump start” their retirement plans By Andrew J. Cavaliere, CLTC
Doctors and other health care professionals can activate dormant assets in order to jump start their retirement plans creating significant additional retirement income and new wealth for their families. We can do this by focusing on developing personal plans using the value of the accounts receivable within their practices. We have a unique approach to convert their accounts receivable into their own personal retirement plan. We especially like to work with doctors who are interested in “jump starting” their lagging and/or underfunded retirement plans. Our solutions for wealth-building are not accounts receivable “factoring” programs. Instead, our plan allows physicians to retain control of and continue to receive all of their accounts receivable. We also enable single physicians within larger practices to extract their portion of the practice’s accounts receivable and convert them into powerful financial tools for developing the retirement income stream they deserve. Regarding investments within retirement plans, we hear the same complaints from doctors throughout the country these days. Markets are volatile, returns are never guaranteed and a down turn with their retirement dollars can be devastating to their long term retirement objectives. With our plan, it is important to note that the client’s assets are never “invested in the market”, but rather enjoy the benefits of a market upswing while being protected against loss of principal. Any earnings in the account are locked in annually, and cannot be lost regardless of market performance. If you are interested in learning how to use your practice to fund your personal retirement plan, which can provide a significant funding head start all the while protecting your hard earned principal against loss, we invite you to contact us at the toll free number below. For more information regarding our plan please call Andrew J. Cavaliere, CLTC at 914-682-2190 or toll free at 877-676-9900. Andrew is certified in Long-Term Care (CLTC) from the Corporation for Long-Term Care Certification, Inc. Andrew is a member in good standing of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), which is the premier Association of financial professionals nationally. Andrew’s offices are located at 50 Main Street, White Plains, NY 10606 and at 50 West Putnam, Greenwich CT 06831.

Wartburg Celebrates Mary, Mother of Our Lord Ecumenical Service of Remembrance Sunday, August 17, 2014 Wartburg, an award-winning provider of comprehensive residential and healthcare services for seniors, hosted a Mary, Mother of Our Lord, Ecumenical Service of Remembrance, on Sunday, August 17, 2014 celebrating the dedication of the Wartburg Chapel Sacristy addition, tabernacle, Blessed Virgin Mary statue and the Mary garden on Wartburg’s historic 34acre campus in Mount Vernon, NY. Reverend Carol E. A. Fryer, Wartburg Director of Spiritual Care and Church Relations and Pastor of United Lutheran Church (Mount Vernon, NY) presided over the celebration in the Wartburg Chapel. Joining Reverend Fryer was Sister Connie Koch, OP, of the Church of the Holy Family (New Rochelle, NY), Father Martin Biglin, of the Church of Holy Name of Jesus (New Rochelle, NY), Sister Pam Conte, OSF and Sister Helen Demboski, OP, both residents of Mount Vernon; and Reverend Jonathan Linman, of the Metropolitan New York Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Reverend Fryer remarked, “It gives me great joy to celebrate our beautiful Chapel and dedicate our new addition and the statue of Mary with so many of our Ecumenical friends. It has been said that the walls that divide us do not reach up to heaven. I like to think that we are blessed with a glimpse of heaven right here in this Wartburg community.” The celebration was attended by over 120 individuals including Wartburg board of directors, benefactors, staff, residents,

family members of current and past residents and members of the local community. The addition to the Wartburg Chapel includes a lovely new sacristy in which vestments, sacred vessels and liturgical items will be kept, office space and two fully handicap-accessible restrooms. It was made possible through leadership bequests from the Estate of Marie and Albert Spannagel and the Estate of Arthur & Juanita Friedrichs and a gift from United Lutheran Church (Mount Vernon, NY.) The tabernacle, donated by the Sisters of St. Francis of Hastings, NY, will be placed in the Columbarium at the back of the Wartburg Chapel.
Recalling the Wartburg Chapel expansion project started several years ago, David J. Gentner, Wartburg President and CEO, said, “Pastor Fryer envisioned this in her first six months here. Now, seven years later, her dream has become a reality through her steadfast determination to expand Wartburg’s ecumenical spiritual care ministry on our campus. With the Chapel’s expansion, Wartburg will continue our long standing tradition of serving individuals of all faiths by continuously providing ministries of healing and hope through services which will continue to nurture the body, mind and spirit of all those entrusted to our care for generations to come.” As part of Wartburg’s Campus Beautification Campaign, the statue of Mary was dedicated in memory of Maria Tapia-Belsito, Wartburg’s Director of Development until October 2013. The statue of Mary is nestled within one of the numerous breathtakingly beautiful sitting gardens located on Wartburg’s 34-acre picturesque campus providing residents, families and staff outdoor sanctuaries. Each sitting area is composed of memorial trees, benches and bricks, given by donors in honor of or in memory of a loved one. The “Mary Garden” has already become a special place Over 120 individuals joined the Wartburg community in celebrating the dedi- of prayer and meditation for many of cation of the Wartburg Chapel Sacristy addition. Wartburg’s residents and families.
“Wartburg’s Campus Beautification Campaign fulfills our mission bringing together nature and nurture, a vital part of the continuum of care that holds our community together and made possible through the generosity of Wartburg donors.” said Angela Ciminello, Wartburg’s Director of Development. Wartburg Wartburg is an award-winning provider of comprehensive senior services, including independent living, assisted living, Alzheimer’s/dementia care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, adult day services and hospice care. Its 34-acre campus in Mount Vernon serves seniors and their families in southern Westchester and the northern Bronx, and now the New York Metro area. Wartburg’s nursing home has been recognized by U. S. News & World Report as among the best nursing homes in New York State for the third straight consecutive year, in 2013. Over the past few years, Wartburg has launched an ambitious building expansion program, including the Friedrichs Residence, providing affordable housing for seniors with 61 independent living apartments, and a Rehabilitation and Adult Day Services Center of Excellence, both opened in 2013.

White Plains
named second most pampered city
When you think of pampered cities, Paris, Los Angeles, perhaps New York City, might come to mind. How about White Plains? White Plains was ranked the second-most pampered city in America by Groupon, the discount commerce website. Groupon ranked 150 cities this month based on how much customers spent on “pampering” deals such as facials, tanning and teeth whitening. Only Green Bay, Wis., finished higher. Stamford, Conn., finished sixth. The company also released a number of other rankings to coincide with a Beauty Week promotion in August. Seattle had the most money spent in waxing, leading to Groupon christening the city “Most Likely to Wear a Bikini in the Rain.” The Connecticut cities of Bridgeport, Stamford and Norwalk had the most wrinkle injection and facelift deals purchased per subscriber, Groupon said. Those cities also finished in the top five cities for facials and photofacials, according to the company rankings. The complete top 10 list of most pampered cities: 1. Green Bay, Wis. 2. White Plains 3. Cleveland 4. Austin, Texas 5. Santa Barbara, Calif.
6. Stamford, Conn. 7. Charlotte, N.C. 8. Mobile, Ala. 9. Bergen, N.J. 10. Omaha, Neb.

What do doctors do to treat their own pain? As a board-certified internist who has been in practice for over 13 years, I spend much of my time attempting to alleviate the pain and suffering of my patients. As a clinician, one of the biggest challenges I face is helping my patients deal with musculoskeletal and neuropathic pain syndromes—those all-too-common, yet frequently debilitating ailments caused by bad backs, pinched nerves, arthritis, and the like. Unfortunately, much of what I have to offer my patients boils down to the following: take a pain pill, stretch if you can, wait, and hope for the best. After a failed trial of “conservative” therapy a call might go out to the orthopedic surgeon for assistance; a truly satisfactory result is not common. The simple fact is that physicians are not well trained to deal with musculoskeletal pain, and patients can suffer as a result. Thankfully, my views on this topic have been turned completely upside down since I havepersonally discovered Dr. Jonathan Donath’s outstanding practice. After beginning a vigorous exercise regimen I started to experience awful neck and upper back pain, accompanied by numbness and tingling down my left arm and fingers. For weeks I tried to nurse the pain with non steroidal anti-inflammatory medication, but the pain persisted and got to the point that I was almost unable to work, sleep, or most importantly, play guitar. I wasliterally in tears from the excruciating pain. A neurosurgeon diagnosed a herniated disc and pinched nerve in my neck and offered to decompress it with an operation. In desperation I called Dr. Donath instead. My visit to Dr. Donath’s office was an outstanding experience. He spent about an hour with me and combined multiple modalities to fix the herniated disc in my neck: deep massage, active release techniques, traditional manipulation, cold therapy, and finally spinal decompression. After that first hour with Dr. Donath my pain had decreased from a 10/10 down to a manageable 4/10, and I was able to comfortably move my head and neck. That very night I was able to play guitar again. Two days later I went back for another series of treatments and the pain decreased even further. After about five days the pain was absolutely gone. Unbelievable! Since then he has used the same wonderful techniques to help me overcome painful bouts of sciatica as well. My own patients and family members have become “believers” in Dr. Donath’s abilities as well--- the results he achieves are real and lasting. He is my go to guy for the majority of musculoskeletal and neuropathic pain syndromes that I now realize are truly treatable. Dr. Robert Sidlow MD, Associate Professor of Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine
I am a pediatrician and in my work, I have to bend down a lot and I’m constantly lifting kids. I usually have one to three bad flare ups of low back pain every year. When my back would "go out", I could barely walk to the bathroom and would have to lie down in bed for a few days. I have tried everything: doing nothing and "toughing it out", muscle relaxants, physical therapy, chiropractic, therapeutic massage, and even painful steroid injections. Nothing worked. When I moved to Westchester, I met Dr. Jonathan Donath. In just a couple of sessions with Dr. Donath, the pain completely disappeared. If it hadn't happened to me, I wouldn't have believed it. During my last flare up, I was expecting to be on my back for 2-3 days and in pain for 2 weeks. Instead, after one session with Dr. Donath, I was able to walk; two more sessions and I was fine. I could walk, bend down and I had almost no pain. Since that last back episode, Dr. Donath has helped me with my tendonitis in my right hand and with my chronic knee problems. I recommend Dr. Donath to everyone with back, muscle or joint pain. Even if you have not had relief with other treatments and other Chiropractors, give Dr. Donath a chance. I did and he changed my life. Eugene Dinkevich MD, Mount Vernon, NY It’s my great pleasure to write about Westchester Spinal Decompression Center. I really don’t have words to express my feelings about the care I got in last 3 months. I was almost handicapped, living with terrible pain all the time, crippling my day to day life. I am a medical doctor and work in a hospital with all sorts of amazing physicians, but after seeing a physical therapist, getting epidural steroids injections, many orthopedists and neurosurgeons, finally my destination lead me to see Dr Jonathan Donath. With great skepticism, I lied down for spinal decompression therapy. It was unbelievable that after only two initial sessions, my radiating pain down my leg had almost disappeared. Gradually, I started getting better, started doing exercises that they gave me midway through the treatment. Now, I am doing all my daily activities without any pain. I highly recommend Dr Jonathan and his colleague Dr Kavita for any problems related to the musculoskeletal system, you will definitely feel at home and will get better.
