Weekly Challenge Challenge Weekly We challenge you to come up with great and creative things to do each day of the week. Be as imaginative as possible as you find fun things to do with your family and friends. We can’t wait to see what you explore. Here are some ideas to get you started...
Make Something MONDAY • Make bottle print flowers using a water bottle, paint, markers, and buttons. • Make Pool Noodle Lightsabers with duct tape (black, gray and silver) for grip and detail.
Try It TUESDAY • Try a new dessert that has a fruit or vegetable in its name. • Do five new exercises a day.
Walk Somewhere WEDNESDAY • Do bubble wrap stomp painting – all you need is paper, bubble wrap, tape and paint, then you can walk and create a scene. • Walk up and down the stairs in your house as many times as you are old.
Thoughtful THURSDAY • Give someone a painted flower print using celery base and paint. • Share a picture with someone in your family by making a rock photo holder with smooth rocks (decorated), with copper wire for the photo.
Fun FRIDAY • Create giant bubbles – Recipe: 5 gallons distilled water, 10 cups Dawn dish soap (not antibacterial), 2 cups Karo Syrup, 1 small pool, 1 hula hoop…let mixture sit over night for best results and have fun! • Play with sponge water balls by cutting a sponge into fourths, stack and wrap middle with rubber band, then soak with water and toss.

While we all know that primary colors are the colors that can be combined to make other colors, like red and yellow creating orange, what about mixing colors to create your own new color (and a funny name to go along with it)? Here’s an example... you can combine blue and purple to make “blurple”. Under the Sea Graham Crackers Ingredients • Graham crackers • Graham cracker crumbs, in bowl • Gold fish crackers
Directions
• White ball sprinkles • Green and red long sprinkles, or jimmies • Round red sprinkles • Blue frosting
1. Take one graham cracker and using a spreader or butter knife, spread blue frosting on almost all of the cracker, but leave the very top of the graham cracker frosting free. 2. Place the bottom of the frosted graham cracker into the bowl with graham cracker crumbs, covering just the bottom of the cracker with crumbs or ‘sand’. You can sprinkle extra crumbs on if needed. 3. Add two goldfish crackers. Then give each goldfish 2 air bubbles, using the white ball sprinkles. 4. Optional decorations include seaweed and a crab. To make the seaweed use several long green sprinkles and arrange them to look like seaweed. Get organized for back-to-school Even though the start of a new school year is still a few weeks away, August is a great time to get organized. · Clean out your child’s clothes closet and drawers. Put items into three piles: Keep, Donate, and Dump. Do the same with school supplies. This will give you a more accurate account of what you need and what you already have. · Organize! Group clothing by category so you know what you have: put jeans together, t-shirts together, etc. Do the same with school supplies. Use clear plastic shoe boxes to organize pencils, markers, glue sticks, and other school supplies. · Make a list of what needs to be replaced. Keep an eye on the Sunday ad circulars for back-to-school sales.
