After helping hundreds of Westchester County herniated disc sufferers eliminated their pain, Local Doctor explains how…
“Back Pain Technology Cheats Mother Nature Helps Herniated Discs Heal Naturally… In As Little As 25 Minutes!” At Last! Westchester County Doctor Offers Technology That Doesn’t Just End SEVERE Pain From Herniated Discs, But Helps Your Body To Start Rebuilding Them… As Fast As Humanly Possible! Best Part: You can check it all out for FREE if you like! There is no doubt… technology has made all of our lives better… and easier. Just about every miraculous medical cure and comfort of modern living can be attributed to amazing breakthroughs in technology. Heck, laser eye surgery can give people who are almost as blind as a bat perfect 20/20 vision. How amazing is that? That’s why it’s no surprise that technology might be able to solve your back and neck pain from herniated/bulging discs or sciatica…for good. Here is why: Back and neck pain can be devastating. And nothing is worse than going to doctor after doctor… trying treatment after treatment… spending money you can’t afford… and still suffering in pain. That’s why… I bet you would love to instantly end your pain… without any risk what-soever… and have it never come back for the rest of your life? Well, that might NOT be so easy. But, what if there was a wonderful advancement in technology that, with a handful of simple, non-invasive treatments, could possibly have you out of pain and on your way to healing naturally? Better yet, what if this technology could possibly heal your herniated/bulging discs (instead of cutting it out like surgery) so you have the best chance to live pain-free and do all the things you want and love to do? And what if this technology was: 3 FDA cleared! 3 Proven safe and effective! 3 Allows your herniated discs to heal naturally without the risky and dangerous side effects of surgery! 3 Relieves pain fast… in some cases in as little as 25 minutes! Well, guess what? There is such technology and there is a very good chance it can help you… like it has already helps thousands of herniated/bulging disc and sciatica sufferers all around the country… No Matter How Bad Your Pain Is, How Long You’ve Been Suffering Or How Many Other Treatments And Doctors Have Failed You! Don’t laugh. It’s really true. Here’s proof…
When you have a herniated disc, compressive forces cause your spinal bones to come together… basically squashing your disc. The space in between your bones decreases and the soft, jello-like disc material leaks out. This disc material that leaks out is called a herniated disc and can cause severe pain, numbness and tingling in your neck, back, arms or legs when the herniation pushes into and “pinches” a nerve. So it makes sense, if you could slightly pull the spinal bones apart… that would open up the space, take the pressure off the disc, the disc off the nerve and solve the problem. Right? But the only problem is… how do you do that? For years and years, doctors have been trying to do it with traction. But traction has been proven ineffective and often very painful. Why? Traction doesn’t work because when you have a herniated or bulging disc, the area is injured and when you try to move, your muscles go into spasm. Spasm is your body’s way of trying to protect you from causing further injury. That’s why traction hurts so much. As soon as the traction starts… your muscles overprotect the area and spasm. But the good news is: Now there is technology that out-smarts your body’s natural spasm reaction. In other words: It fools mother nature! This technology is called non-surgical spinal decompression (NSSD) and here’s how it works… NSSD is very different from plain traction because it has advanced computer technology that actually senses your spinal muscles. When it starts to gently pull, it immediately knows when your muscles start to contract and it stops pulling. As soon as your muscles relax, it starts pulling again. The amazing thing is: the computer senses your muscles contraction so early… you don’t even feel what is going on. Which means you never feel any pain! In fact, the only thing most patients feel is… RELIEF!!! But the best part is: NSSD is able to gently separate your spinal bones which, in many cases, actually sucks the herniated disc material back into the disc where it belongs! This takes away your pain and allows your herniated and bulging discs to heal naturally!
And check this out: Treatments are pleasant and simple. All you have to do is lie on your back, listen to your favorite music, read a magazine… or… take a nap! The wonderful technology does everything while you simply RELAX the pain away! To sum up NSSD: • For most patients it is 100% painless… in fact many patients actually fall asleep during treatment! • Works fast! Most patients get relief after a handful of treatments – some after the very first! • Is non-invasive so it does not have the dangerous risks of surgery! • Gets to the root cause of the problem and helps it heal naturally! Isn’t modern technology wonderful? And wouldn’t you like to… Give This Great Technology A Try… For Free? If you would, there’s great news. There is a Doctor located at 222 Westchester Ave. Suite 405 in White Plains who has invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in this wonderful technology and has been treating herniated/bulging disc and sciatica patients with incredible success. His name is Dr. Jonathan Donath DC, MS and he is so excited about the results he’s been getting, he would like to share it with as many pain sufferers as possible. But There Is A Catch… There’s always a catch... isn’t there? Even though this technology has helped a majority of the patients Dr. Donath has treated… it is not a wonder cure and it does not help everyone.
On the right: healthy disc. Center: Herniated disc with soft disc material leaking out. On the left: Herniated disc material compressing or “pinching” nerve.
For that reason, Dr. Donath does a complete examination on every potential patient and only accepts you if he feels you are most likely to get the pain relief and outcome you are looking for. Dr. Donath’s Special Deal For You! Because the economy is so bad and Dr. Donath wants to help you if possible, he is offering the first 17 people who respond to this article a free consultation and NSSD qualification examination. And if you qualify for NSSD treatments, Dr. Donath will also give you one treatment for FREE! And if you do not qualify, Dr. Donath will help you find the best option for you. That’s why, if you suffer with pain from a herniated/bulging disc or sciatica you should call 914-259-8104 right now. When Barbara answers the phone, simply tell her you would like your free non-surgical spinal decompression consultation and examination. If you are one of the first 17, she will schedule you within the next few days. If you are in a lot of pain or already scheduled for surgery, tell Barbara and she will be sure to get you in immediately. Maybe even today.
On right: Herniated disc with spinal bones “squished” together. Center: NSSD slightly pulls the spinal bones apart, opens up the disc space and allows herniated material to move back into the disc. Left: Herniated material completely back in center of disc allows the disc to heal naturally. Your consultation and examination should take about 60 minutes. During this time you can get all of your questiones answered in a warm and friendly environment. You will know exactly what’s causing your pain and the best possible way to solve it. Dr. Donath will explain to you all your possible options along with his recomendations so you can make the best choice for YOU.
Why Limited To 17? Dr. Donath has limited the number he will accept right now to 17 because he does not believe patients should wait and they should also get the quality personal attention they deserve. When you go for your free visit, I’m sure you will see how unique and pleasant the experience is. It’s nice to be treated like a person and not a number or based on insurance coverage. It’s also nice to know exactly what’s causing your pain and how to relieve it as fast as possible. Dr. Donath’s favorite cases are the one’s that were able to cancel back surgery after only a handful of treatments. Dr. Donath also loves when a herniated disc patient that is in excruciating pain and thinks they’ve tried everything, lays down on the NSSD table, takes a 25 minute nap… and… wakes up with all their pain GONE! Just imagine how it would feel to have all your pain finally gone. Imagine going to bed and being able to sleep the entire night through… … and waking up refreshed and energized… ready to take on the brand new day – without the pain and stiffness that has been terrorizing you. And imagine finally knowing you have the solution to your herniated disc pain. Well, you may not have to just “imagine” anymore… because… NSSD might start relieving your pain… in just 25 minutes! So, if you’d like to see if you qualify and give this amazing technology a try for free… give Barbara a call at 914-259-8104 right now. Why wait one more day in pain when the solution may be one quick phone call away? Call now before someone else gets your free spot. One More Thing It’s Important… Ever since getting this wonderful technology, Dr. Donath’s office has been flooded with calls. For that reason, if when you call, the lines are busy or you go to voice mail… just keep calling back. The possibility of living pain-free is well worth the time and effort it may take you to get through and schedule your appointment. 914-259-8104

It’s her heart that keeps her going. Murray will be embarking on a journey that will cover 7 marathons, in 7 states, in 7 days. Over the course of a week, Murray will participate in the Heartland Series which is 7 marathons in 7 states; Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota. The brain injury resulted from a congenital AVM (arteriovenous malformation) which ruptured that morning but had otherwise been asymptomatic his entire life. After 4 months in the hospital and intensive rehabilitation at Burke, Brad continues his recovery with the support of his wife and 2 young sons. The goal of Run4Brad is to raise money to fund a lower limb robotics program at the Burke Medical Research Institute in White Plains. Burke’s existing upper limb robotics clinic has yielded impressive results with patients, and through the work of Run4Brad, Burke is now able to provide lower limb resources to help those, like Brad, who have suffered traumatic brain injuries to maximize their rehabilitation. The Run4Brad movement has raised over $600,000 which has been used to purchase of two robotic devices. According to Murray, she is running because she can, “My mantra is what the mind believes, the body achieves and I am honored to run for Brad and help him and others reach 100% recovery. Yonkers Wins ‘Hippest Town’ contest PAGE 10

Healthcare News - Westchester
By Popular Vote, Yonkers Beats Out Towns, Villages and Cities Across the Hudson Valley as the Best Place to Live, Work and Play
The City of Yonkers was recently declared the “Hippest Town” in the Hudson Valley by popular vote on The Journal News’ website lohud.com. Yonkers beat out seven other towns, villages and cities over the last month, taking the title by winning over Peekskill in the final round. In celebrating the win, Mayor Mike Spano joined residents and business leaders at a local restaurant, Rory Dolans, for the announcement. “We always knew Yonkers was the hippest town and the place to be,” said Mayor Spano. “Yonkers has everything from our beautiful waterfront and bustling business districts, to an emerging arts community and growing population of Millennials, to our top-notch shopping and dining. Lohud’s poll reconfirmed what so many in the Hudson Valley and beyond have known for years: Yonkers is the place to live, work and play.” The two mayors held a friendly wager whereby the runner-up would foot the bill at the other mayor’s local restaurant of choice. “Congratulations to Mayor Catalina and Peekskill for the friendly competition,” added Mayor Spano. “I look forward to calling in our wager and showing what so many people in the Hudson Valley believe and voted for. I’m excited for our trip to Empire City Casino and 5-star restaurant, X20’s.” In lohud’s story declaring Yonkers the winner, the news website characterized the victory as “just another feather in the cap of this newly revitalized powerhouse city, which in recent years has invested heavily in the arts, riverfront development and a stronger, safer, hipper downtown business district. reached out to the growing Millennial demographic, ensuring Yonkers' future growth as these young professionals build their lives in the lower Hudson Valley.” Business owners who have invested in the city were ecstatic with the win and said it shows how great the city is as a destination. The Generation Yonkers campaign, which was developed last year, builds on the momentum of many new businesses and exciting development happening throughout the city -- particularly along its scenic Hudson River waterfront. It speaks to Millennials or Generation Y, loosely defined as those born between 1983 and the early 2000's that represent the next big wave of the nation’s workforce. Be part of Generation Yonkers. You must protect your assets, family and future now!
The Importance of Elder Law: For nearly 30 years, practicing law has been Ely Rosenzveig’s passion. His inspiration? That comes from, among other things, his life experiences, the people he has met, and the clients he works with every day. The widow who didn’t have a will and was concerned about her financial future. The family that was reeling from health issues impacting their elderly loved ones without any planning in place to address their needs, leaving them with the prospect of exorbitantly expensive care needs. Ely Rosenzveig was a rabbi in Westchester County. The plight of some in his congregation moved him to practice elder law and trust and estate planning. He would become a senior partner at one of the foremost elder law firms in the country, but left to join hands with his son, Ariel. “I really jumped at the opportunity to work in this area of law,” Ely Rosenzveig said. “I think it’s special kind of work. To help people and work with your son is incredibly rewarding. Ariel is a great asset – a wonderful and gifted young attorney.” The law firm of Ely J. Rosenzveig & Associates, P.C. in White Plains practices in all areas of elder law, including trust and
estate planning, administration, and litigation, tax counsel, asset protection and special needs planning, Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security disability benefits, guardianships, long term care planning, spousal recovery claims, and Medicaid lien resolutions. Father and son pride themselves on an unyielding commitment to the zealous advocacy of their clients’ interests. Estate planning is one of the most important steps any person can take to make sure that their final property and health care wishes are honored, and that loved ones are provided for in their absence. A comprehensive estate plan can resolve a number of legal questions that arise whenever anyone dies. Appropriate estate and Medicaid planning can help preserve assets, reduce taxes, and help individuals qualify for Medicaid. “People don’t want to talk about illness and death,” Ariel Rosenzveig said. “It’s a tough subject. People are reluctant, but the type of measures that we implement for our clients can save them and their loved ones a lot of money. Proper planning will help provide financial and emotional security for all involved.”
The firm is very experienced in making sure that those eligible for Medicaid and Medicare get the benefits they deserve. Ely J. Rosenzveig & Associates, P.C. has been very successful in negotiating the complex bureaucratic minefield in which Medicaid is now mired, a dynamic only exacerbated with the passage of the Deficit reduction Act of 2006, and the new rules regarding the look-back requirements, and penalty period calculations for non-Medicaid exempt asset transfers. The firm has achieved remarkable results for clients on a host of Medicaid related issues, from getting Medicaid approvals for coverage of home care and institutional care benefits, to very accommodative resolutions of Medicaid spousal recovery claims, where the office of Medicaid aggressively pursues the non-institutionalized (i.e., or “community”) spouse for Medicaid benefits provided. No matter what the case, Ely J. Rosenzveig & Associates, P.C. prides itself on working with each client individually, catering to each one’s diverse needs. Estate planning should begin at a young age with a will, health care proxy, living
will and durable power of attorney. As you grow older and accumulate assets, it is especially important that you speak with an experience elder law attorney issues pertaining to issues concerning Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and further estate planning. Elder law is about more than just saving money. When viewed properly, elder law is about two major things: First, ensuring that your personal wishes — financial, medical, and legal — are carried out; and second, understanding that elder law is a family matter affecting an intricate web of individual relationships. Knowing that your potential long-term care needs have already been addressed frees you and your family from needless worry. And Ely and Ariel Rosenzveig are there to help their cherished clients every step of the way. “We want every client to feel like they are our only client,” Ely Rosenzveig said. “We are totally committed to ensuring that we be fully responsive to our clients’ every need. For us, this is tremendously rewarding. It is the very reason why we have become elder law attorneys.”

If you're suffering from nerve problems in the arms and legs, you must read about a clinical study that showed
How 85% of Patients Eliminated Numbness, Tingling, or Sharp Pains Numbness, tingling, and pain are extremely annoying problems.
It may come and go...interrupts your sleep...and even makes your arm or legs feel weak at times. Maybe you've even been to other doctors and they claim all the tests indicate you should feel fine.
If You Read Nothing Else, Read This:
More than 20 million Americans suffer from peripheral neuropathy, a problem caused by damage to the nerves that supply your arms and legs.
This painful condition interferes with your body's ability to transmit messages to your muscles, skin, joints, or internal organs. If ignored or mistreated, neuropathy can lead to irreversible health conditions.
Why not get help by those trained to correct the major cause of peripheral neuropathy. Read the full facts on this page.
More Pills Are Not the Solution A common treatment for many nerve problems is the 'take some pills and wait and see' method.
While this may be necessary for temporary relief of severe symptoms, using them long term is no way to live. Some of the more common drugs given include pain pills, anti-seizure mediations, and anti-depressants -- all of which have serious side effects.
The Likely Cause of Your Problem My name is Dr. Alex Hilario, clinic director at Chiropractic Rehabilitation Source. I've been helping people with neuropathy and nerve problems for more than 10 years.
Often neuropathy is caused by a degenerating spine pressing on the nerve roots. This can happen in any of the vertebral joints from the neck all the way down to the tail bone.
The good news is that chiropractic treatments have proven effective in helping to remove the pressure on the nerves.
By using gentle techniques, I'm able to release the pressure that has built up on the nerve. This allows the nerve to heal and the symptoms to go away. For example, numerous studies have proven chiropractic's effectiveness in helping nerve conditions.
Patients showed an 85.5% resolution of the nerve symptoms after only 9 chiropractic treatments. - Journal of Chiropractic Medicine 2008
With chiropractic care, patients had “significant improvement in perceived comfort and function, nerve conduction and finger sensation overall.” – JMPT 1998
“Significant increase in grip strength and normalization of motor and sensory latencies were noted. Orthopedic tests were negative. Symptoms dissipated.” – JMPT 1994
What these studies mean is that you could soon be enjoying life...without those aggravating nerve problems.
Could This Be Your Solution? It’s time for you to find out if chiropractic will be your neuropathy solution.
For 14 days only, $30 will get you all the services I normally charge new patients $250 for!
What does this offer include? Everything. Take a look at what you will receive:
• An in-depth consultation about your health and well-being where I will listen…really listen…to the details of your case. • A complete neuromuscular examination. • A thorough analysis of your exam and x-ray findings so we can start mapping out your plan to being pain free. • I'll answer your most probing questions about nerve problems and how chiropractic can help. Until August 10, 2015 you can get everything I’ve listed here for only $47. The normal price for this type of evaluation is $250, so you’re saving a considerable amount by taking me up on this offer. Call 914-584-6864 now.
We can get you scheduled for your consultation, and exam as soon as there’s an opening.
Our office is located in the heart of White Plains near Starbucks, Galleria Mall and Wal-Mart, when you call, tell the receptionist you’d like to come in for the Nerve Evaluation so she can get you on the schedule and make sure you receive proper credit for this special offer. Sincerely, Alex Hilario, D.C. P.S. Remember, you only have until August 10 to reserve an appointment at this significant discount. Why suffer for years in misery?
That’s no way to live, not when there could be an easy solution to your problem.
P.P.S. Nothing’s worse than feeling great mentally, but physically feeling held back from life because your arms or legs hurt – and the pain just won’t go away! Take me up on my offer and call today 914-584-6864.

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Opens State-of-the-Art Cath Lab at Lawrence Hospital
Dr. Mark Apfelbaum often sees a look of relief on patients’ faces when he treats them at the new NewYork-Presbyterian Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville. Having any type of heart procedure can be unnerving, but undergoing it close to home at a world-class facility gives patients piece of mind. NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital opened its high tech Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory approximately five weeks ago. “The response we are getting from patients and their families has been extremely positive,” said Dr. Mark Apfelbaum, director of the NewYork-Presbyterian Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital and associate professor of medicine at Columbia University Medical Center. “It can be a little intimidating undergoing these types of tests, especially when you have to drive to an unfamiliar hospital. From day one, I have seen how comfortable patients are here, and that means a lot to the entire staff at NYP/Lawrence.” For patients requiring catheterization, a type of life-saving intervention, access to a catheterization lab is critical to ensure quick restoration of blood flow to the heart by opening the arteries. Historically, patients in Westchester County traveled to hospitals further away to receive this treatment. However, when someone is having a heart attack, quick treatment is vital to reducing damage to the heart and even saving a life. That’s why in part NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital chose to open a Cath Lab in Bronxville. Its heart program is ranked #1 in New York State and #3 in the country, according to U.S. News and World Report. Now local residents can experience that same level of care at NYP/Lawrence. Its Cath Lab is staffed by interventional cardiologists and electrophysiologists from ColumbiaDoctors, the faculty practice of Columbia University. It provides a variety of minimally invasive procedures such as coronary stenting, heart biopsy, and pacemaker implantation and is one of few centers in Westchester County licensed to perform emergency cardiac angioplasty for patients having a heart attack.
Mark Apfelbaum, MD Director, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at NYP/Lawrence.
“We see and treat our patients very quickly, which makes a big difference for them,” Apfelbaum said. “The sooner you can treat a patient and get into an artery, the better they will do, the better they will recover. Patients are greatly benefiting from the world-class care at NYP/Lawrence.” NYP/Lawrence’s Cath Lab is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It is conveniently located near the hospital’s emergency room, which can save precious minutes in transit for patients experiencing a heart attack. In addition to the emergency and diagnostic procedures offered, patients can also undergo routine testing via angiograms and cardiac imaging. In an angiogram, doctors take a series of X-rays of the heart to search for narrowing and blockages. Cardiac imaging allows doctors to screen for narrowing arteries via a specially designed catheter with ultrasound tips. Patients who may require more advanced cardiac care will have easy access to surgeons at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center. “I have been an attending at Columbia for 25 years,” Apfelbaum said. “For me, the opening of the Cardiac Cath Lab is something new and very exciting. Now being here at NYP/Lawrence and getting such a great response from the community is very rewarding.” To learn more about the Cath Lab, please call 914-787-2270. WESTMED Medical Group, a large, Purchase-based multi-specialty medical practice, joined elected and community leaders, and developers Simone Healthcare Development and Fareri Associates, on Wednesday, May 13 to mark the grand opening of its fifth full-service office in Westchester County. The new four-story, 85,000square-foot medical office building is located 3030 Westchester Avenue in the newly renamed Purchase Professional Park in Purchase, NY. The grand opening marks the first new office construction along the I287 corridor in more than 25 years. Executives from WESTMED, Simone and Fareri Associates were joined by local elected and community leaders at the ceremony, including Harrison Town Supervisor Ronald Belmont and Westchester Deputy County Executive Kevin Plunkett. WESTMED Medical Group’s specialties in the new building include: Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Colorectal Surgery, Critical Care, Dermatology, Endocrinology, ENT, Gynecologic Oncology, Healthy Measures weight management program, Mohs Surgery, Nephrology, Neurology, Orthopedics, Palliative Medicine, Plastic Surgery, Pulmonology and Reproductive Endocrinology. “When our medical organizations merged in 1999, my partner and I, Dr. Barney Newman, were concerned that one of the most desirable areas to live in the U.S. was characterized as having fragmented, uncoordinated health care,” said Dr. Simeon Schwartz, President and CEO of WESTMED Medical Group. “Our vision was to bring coordinated, efficient and quality medical care to a wide spectrum of the population. Sixteen years later, as we open our 5th full-service office, WESTMED sees ever-larger numbers of patients seeking out the right services at the right time rather than more costly care, with unnecessary tests and avoidable hospitalizations.”

Situated on Westchester Avenue in the heart of Westchester’s Platinum Mile (I-287), the Purchase Professional Park combines firstclass office and medical space, exceptional amenities and one of the most convenient office locations in the region. The park-like campus features four modern buildings (3000, 3010, 3020 and the new 3030 Westchester Avenue) totaling 220,000 square feet of Class A office and medical space. Purchase Professional Park is a true suburban office and medical park offering the latest in corporate quality amenities and services, including: on-site café, fitness center,

The complex offers a highly visible and convenient location at Exit 10 off of I-287, with access to major highways including I-95, I684 and the Hutchinson River/Merritt Parkways, and is just minutes away from the Westchester County Airport and Metro-North train stations in Rye, Harrison and White Plains, providing access to the growing suburban patient base in Westchester, Fairfield and Putnam counties. Nearby hospitals include
White Plains Hospital, New YorkPresbyterian Hospital in White Plains, Greenwich Hospital and Westchester Medical Center. Simone Healthcare Development and Fareri Associates recently completed a major renovation and modernization of the existing buildings and common areas at the Purchase Professional Park. The renovation work included refurbishing the exterior facades, renovating all of the lobbies as well as all common area hallways and restrooms, and replacing the elevators and elevator cabs with new finishing throughout all three of the complex’s existing buildings. Landscaping is being upgraded throughout the campus and the existing courtyard will have a new fountain as its centerpiece, along with new plantings, pavers and outdoor furniture for visitors and employees working at the complex to enjoy. Further, new, brighter and more energy efficient LED lighting is being installed throughout the on-site parking areas at the campus, and all interior and exterior signage is also being replaced to display the complex’s new name. “The renovations and modernizations we have made at the Purchase Professional Park are a significant investment by our company that will clearly position this complex as the choice location for medical practices and business professionals in Westchester County. We are particularly excited about the addition of WESTMED Medical Group’s fullservice facility at 3030 Westchester Avenue, which is one of the most technologically advanced medical buildings in the region,” said Joseph Simone, President of Simone Development, whose Simone Healthcare Development Group partners with hospitals and large medical practices in the site selection, acquisition, design, construction and management of the state-of-the-art medical facilities. St. Johns Riverside Hospital is one of a select group of only 75 U.S. health care facilities with accredited cancer programs to receive this national honor for surveys performed last year. The award acknowledges cancer programs that achieve excellence in providing quality care to cancer patients. The purpose of the award is to raise awareness on the importance of providing quality cancer care at health care institutions throughout the U.S. In addition, it is intended to:
• Motivate other cancer programs to work toward improving their level of care. • Facilitate dialogue between award recipients and healthcare professionals at other cancer facilities for the purpose of sharing best practices. • Encourage honorees to serve as quality-care resources to other cancer programs. • Educate cancer patients on available quality-care options.
“It is appreciated that the dedication of many individuals is recognized and it is important for our community to understand that quality cancer care can be given in a comfortable community hospital environment,” said Norman Rosen, M.D., Chief of Hematology/Oncology and Chairman of the Cancer Program Committee at St. John’s Riverside Hospital. St. John’s Riverside Hospital’s cancer program was evaluated on 34 program standards categorized within one of four cancer program activity areas: cancer committee leadership, cancer data management, clinical services, and quality improvement. The cancer program was further evaluated on seven commendation standards. To be eligible, all award recipients must have received commendation ratings in all seven-commendation standards, in addition to receiving a compliance rating for each of the 27 other standards. Large Life Insurance Benefits for Small Companies By Andrew J. Cavaliere, CLTC
Today many small business owners need life insurance with higher death benefits to protect their businesses and their families. Acquiring these policies requires full underwriting: paramedical exams, blood and urine screenings, EKG’s and doctor records. Moreover, this process guarantees nothing if major health concerns are present. Focus 10 Life is an employer paid, simplified issue, individual term life insurance program. With Focus 10, an employer is able to provide large amounts of life insurance to executives and other key employees without medical exams or records!
Eligible "white collar" employees can qualify by simply satisfying ONE "actively at work" question. Focus 10 Life offers several unique advantages over other employer paid life insurance products, such as group term life. The most important being the much higher issue limits. Focus 10 Life issue limits can be as high as $1.5 million while most other carrier’s group term life issue limits are considerably lower. Generally, $50,000 is the maximum death benefit limit with traditional simplified issue medical underwriting (usually 10 questions that must be answered appropriately).
Another important difference is the fact that the Focus 10 Life policy rates are guaranteed for 10 years. Most group term contract rates are only guaranteed for three years. Most business owners would agree this is a significant advantage. And what happens with the group term life rate if there is a separation of service, like an employee leaving their job...? We all know that the employee has the option of taking the policy with them, but the conditions of portability require the term policy be converted to a permanent insurance contract like Universal or Whole life. Most people cannot afford to convert so they end up with no life coverage at all. If the insured separates while the policy is in the ten year rate guaranteed period, Focus 10 allows the insured to take the policy with them at the same term rate!
Finally, Focus 10 Life can be an ideal vehicle for funding a Buy-Sell Agreement. A significant amount a life insurance can be acquired on a Simplified Issue basis again with just one "actively at work" question. A buy-sell agreement is a legally binding document that stipulates what will happen to a business when a business owner or partner becomes disabled, dies, retires or decides to sell his or her interest in the company. For Buy-Sell funding for multiple owners, typically the employer is both the owner and beneficiary of the policy. Upon the death of an owner, the company uses the life insurance proceeds to purchase the shares of the deceased owner, as stipulated by the Buy-Sell Agreement.
Simplified Issue Guidelines
As you might expect with any Simplified Issue program, each Focus 10 Life plan is subject to a set of rules or guidelines to help protect the carrier from adverse selection. Some of the basic guidelines are as follows: • • • • •
Targeted to white-collar occupations Minimum lives: 10 Maximum Benefit: $20,000 times the number of lives, up to $1.5 million Minimum face amount: $50,000 Maximum Issue Age: 70 at nearest birthday
For those employers or partnerships that are currently providing group term life coverage, they should consider that a Focus 10 Life plan can be used as 1) a valuable addition to their life insurance program by “stacking” benefit amounts above existing levels and/or 2) a “carve-out” of key employees from an existing group plan.

Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital’s “Wine and Dine Around the World,” an evening of fine food and wine on April 30, raised nearly $50,000. Proceeds from the evening at Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Briarcliff Manor went to support the hospital’s Ashikari Breast Center. Nearly 450 tickets were sold. “We thank everyone who supported this outstanding cause,’’ said Hospital President John C. Federspiel. “The Ashikari Breast Center offers quality cancer care in part due to the research and sharing of best practices that events like this help to support.’’ Proceeds from past years’ events funded symposiums that brought together area oncologists, surgeons and other medical professionals to share best practices and the latest techniques in cancer treatment. All of the restaurateurs generously contributed both time and all of the food items adding to the success of the event. Among those participating on April 30 were: Xaviars Restaurant, Cedar Street Grill; Elia Tav-
erna; 105 Ten Bar & Grill; Cathryn’s Tuscan Grill, Villa Barone, Winery at St. George and many others. The Honorable RoseMarie Panio served as the event chair. What do doctors do to treat their own pain? PAGE 26
July, 2015
Healthcare News - Westchester
As a board-certified internist who has been in practice for over 13 years, I spend much of my time attempting to alleviate the pain and suffering of my patients. As a clinician, one of the biggest challenges I face is helping my patients deal with musculoskeletal and neuropathic pain syndromes—those all-too-common, yet frequently debilitating ailments caused by bad backs, pinched nerves, arthritis, and the like. Unfortunately, much of what I have to offer my patients boils down to the following: take a pain pill, stretch if you can, wait, and hope for the best. After a failed trial of “conservative” therapy a call might go out to the orthopedic surgeon for assistance; a truly satisfactory result is not common. The simple fact is that physicians are not well trained to deal with musculoskeletal pain, and patients can suffer as a result. Thankfully, my views on this topic have been turned completely upside down since I havepersonally discovered Dr. Jonathan Donath’s outstanding practice. After beginning a vigorous exercise regimen I started to experience awful neck and upper back pain, accompanied by numbness and tingling down my left arm and fingers. For weeks I tried to nurse the pain with non steroidal anti-inflammatory medication, but the pain persisted and got to the point that I was almost unable to work, sleep, or most importantly, play guitar. I wasliterally in tears from the excruciating pain. A neurosurgeon diagnosed a herniated disc and pinched nerve in my neck and offered to decompress it with an operation. In desperation I called Dr. Donath instead. My visit to Dr. Donath’s office was an outstanding experience. He spent about an hour with me and combined multiple modalities to fix the herniated disc in my neck: deep massage, active release techniques, traditional manipulation, cold therapy, and finally spinal decompression. After that first hour with Dr. Donath my pain had decreased from a 10/10 down to a manageable 4/10, and I was able to comfortably move my head and neck. That very night I was able to play guitar again. Two days later I went back for another series of treatments and the pain decreased even further. After about five days the pain was absolutely gone. Unbelievable! Since then he has used the same wonderful techniques to help me overcome painful bouts of sciatica as well. My own patients and family members have become “believers” in Dr. Donath’s abilities as well--- the results he achieves are real and lasting. He is my go to guy for the majority of musculoskeletal and neuropathic pain syndromes that I now realize are truly treatable. Dr. Robert Sidlow MD, Associate Professor of Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine
I am a pediatrician and in my work, I have to bend down a lot and I’m constantly lifting kids. I usually have one to three bad flare ups of low back pain every year. When my back would "go out", I could barely walk to the bathroom and would have to lie down in bed for a few days. I have tried everything: doing nothing and "toughing it out", muscle relaxants, physical therapy, chiropractic, therapeutic massage, and even painful steroid injections. Nothing worked. When I moved to Westchester, I met Dr. Jonathan Donath. In just a couple of sessions with Dr. Donath, the pain completely disappeared. If it hadn't happened to me, I wouldn't have believed it. During my last flare up, I was expecting to be on my back for 2-3 days and in pain for 2 weeks. Instead, after one session with Dr. Donath, I was able to walk; two more sessions and I was fine. I could walk, bend down and I had almost no pain. Since that last back episode, Dr. Donath has helped me with my tendonitis in my right hand and with my chronic knee problems. I recommend Dr. Donath to everyone with back, muscle or joint pain. Even if you have not had relief with other treatments and other Chiropractors, give Dr. Donath a chance. I did and he changed my life. Eugene Dinkevich MD, Mount Vernon, NY It’s my great pleasure to write about Westchester Spinal Decompression Center. I really don’t have words to express my feelings about the care I got in last 3 months. I was almost handicapped, living with terrible pain all the time, crippling my day to day life. I am a medical doctor and work in a hospital with all sorts of amazing physicians, but after seeing a physical therapist, getting epidural steroids injections, many orthopedists and neurosurgeons, finally my destination lead me to see Dr Jonathan Donath. With great skepticism, I lied down for spinal decompression therapy. It was unbelievable that after only two initial sessions, my radiating pain down my leg had almost disappeared. Gradually, I started getting better, started doing exercises that they gave me midway through the treatment. Now, I am doing all my daily activities without any pain. I highly recommend Dr Jonathan and his colleague Dr Kavita for any problems related to the musculoskeletal system, you will definitely feel at home and will get better.
