Where do doctors go to treat their own pain? “As a board-certified internist who has been in practice for over 13 years, I spend much of my time attempting to alleviate the pain and suffering of my patients. As a clinician, one of the biggest challenges I face is helping my patients deal with musculoskeletal and neuropathic pain syndromes-those all-toocommon, yet frequently debilitating ailments caused by bad backs, pinched nerves, arthritis, and the like. Unfortunately, much of what I have to offer my patients boils down to the following: take a pain pill, stretch if you can, wait, and hope for the best. After a failed trial of "conservative" therapy a call might go out to the orthopedic surgeon for assistance; a truly satisfactory result is not common. The simple fact is that physicians are not well trained to deal with musculoskeletal pain, and patients can suffer as a result. Thankfully, my views on this topic have been turned completely upside down since I have personally discovered Dr. Jonathan Donath's outstanding practice. After beginning a vigorous exercise regime, I started to experience awful neck and upper back pain, accompanied by numbness and tingling down my left arm and fingers. For weeks I tried to nurse the pain with non steroidal anti-inflammatory medication, but the pain persisted and got to the point that I was almost unable to work, sleep, or most importantly, play guitar. I was literally in tears from the excruciating pain. A neurosurgeon diagnosed a herniated disc and pinched nerve in my neck and offered to decompress it with an operation. In desperation I called Dr. Robert Sidlow MD, MBA Dr. Donath instead. My visit to Dr. Donath's office was an outstanding experience. He spent about an hour with me and combined multiple modalities to fix Internist, New York, NY the herniated disc in my neck: deep massage, active release techniques, traditional manipulation, cold therapy, and finally spinal decompression. After that first hour with Dr. Donath my pain had decreased from a 10/10 down to a manageable 4/10, and I was able to comfortably move my head and neck. That very night I was able to play guitar again. Two days later I went back for another series of treatments and the pain decreased even further. After about five days the pain was absolutely gone. Unbelievable! Since then he has used the same wonderful techniques to help me overcome painful bouts of sciatica as well. My own patients and family members have become "believers" in Dr. Donath's abilities as well--- the results he achieves are real and lasting. He is my go to guy for the majority of musculoskeletal and neuropathic pain syndromes that I now realize are truly treatable.” “I had been experiencing lower back pain for at least 6-7 months before I had visited Dr. Donath's office. Prior to this, I had tried doing stretches at home, taking some medications, acupuncture, but despite this, things did not improve. In fact, symptoms only progressed and became unbearable. It was so difficult to get out of bed in the morning, work my 12 hour shifts as a physician in Urgent Care and do my daily work outs, which I enjoyed so much. My colleague at work, who is also a physician and patient of Dr. Donath, recommended I see him and I was so glad I did. On my first visit, he patiently listened to my story and examined me carefully. He took his time to discuss possible diagnoses, sent me for an MRI that day, and saw me the next day to discuss results, and potential treatment plan. I listened to his advice and began spinal decompression, which was the best decision I have ever made. After a few visits, my pain started to subside and shortly I became pain-free. Dr. Donath and his staff are knowledgeable and very professional. I am so grateful to them for getting me back to my normal life. I highly recommend him to anyone who is having back pain.” Dr. Dawn Garcen, MD Family Medicine/Urgent Care, White Plains, NY “I am a pediatrician and in my work, I have to bend down a lot and I'm constantly lifting kids. I usually have one to three bad flare ups of low back pain every year. When my back would "go out", I could barely walk to the bathroom and would have to lie down in bed for a few days. I have tried everything: doing nothing and "toughing it out", muscle relaxants, physical therapy, chiropractic, therapeutic massage, and even painful steroid injections. Nothing worked. When I moved to Westchester, I met Dr. Jonathan Donath. In just a couple of sessions with Dr. Donath, the pain completely disappeared. If it hadn't happened to me, I wouldn't have believed it. During my last flare up, I was expecting to be on my back for 2-3 days and in pain for 2 weeks. Instead, after one session with Dr. Donath, I was able to walk; two more sessions and I was fine. I could walk, bend down and I had almost no pain. Since that last back episode, Dr. Donath has helped me with my tendonitis in my right hand and with my chronic knee problems. I recommend Dr. Donath to everyone with back, muscle or joint pain. Even if you have not had relief with other treatments and other chiropractors, give Dr. Donath a chance. I did and he changed my life.” Dr. Eugene Dinkevich, MD Division Chief of General Pediatrics—SUNY Downstate Medical Center Brooklyn, NY
“I really don't have words to express my feelings about the care I got in the last 3 months. I was almost handicapped, living with terrible pain all the time, crippling my day to day life. I am a medical doctor and work in a hospital with all sorts of amazing physicians, but after seeing a physical therapist, getting epidural steroids injections, many orthopedists and neurosurgeons, finally my destination lead me to see Dr Jonathan Donath. With great skepticism, I lied down for spinal decompression therapy. It was unbelievable that after only two initial sessions, my radiating pain down my leg had almost disappeared. Gradually, I started getting better, started doing exercises that they gave me midway through the treatment. Now, I am doing all my daily activities without any pain. I highly recommend Dr Jonathan for any problems related to the musculoskeletal system, you will definitely feel at home and will get better.” Dr. Pankaj Jain—Pediatric Cardiologist, New York, NY
“Dr. Donath is amazing. As an internist, I have to decide between traditional western medicine and chiropractic care for my patients with back pain and other joint-related complaints. Dr. Donath's thorough and comprehensive approach to care allows my patients to get relief faster and less invasively. The result is invariably positive. One of my patients said he got his life and golf game back after seeing Dr. Donath. Another said that he was able to get rid of a pain she had for over 5 years in just a few sessions. I can confirm his success first-hand: Dr. Donath relieved my chronic pain with multiple techniques: manipulation, spinal decompression, vitamins and supplements, exercise and stretching. His hands-on approach and love of his work is reflected by the excellent results he gets. I continue to send my friends, family and patients to Dr. Donath because I know he gets results.” Dr. Annebeth Litt, MD Internist, White Plains, NY “My wife actually went to Dr. Donath before I did. She was experiencing terrible neck pain and literally could not move her neck in any direction without excruciating pain. It was so bad that initially she was unable to drive herself to Dr. Donath’s office. After only two spinal decompression treatments by Dr. Donath, she was able to resume driving. Following a few weeks of treatment, she was pain free and her range of motion was back to normal. A few years later, I started having arm and elbow pain. I tweaked something in my arm while working out and anti-inflammatory medication and pain killers did not help. The problem affected my ability to function as an eye surgeon. I saw Dr. Donath who diagnosed my condition as lateral epicondylitis (more commonly known as tennis elbow). He treated me utilizing Active Release Techniques and I improved almost immediately. He also gave me numerous exercises to do at home. After three visits to his office, my pain was completely gone. I highly recommend Dr. Donath to my family, friends, and patients who experience any sort of musculoskeletal pain.” Dr. Harold Weissman, MD Ophthalmic Surgeon Lenox Hill Hospital New York, NY

TOP DOCTORS of Westchester
The Doctor that Medical Doctors go see for their own pain. By Dale McKnight Healthcare Correspondent
Back and neck pain can be debilitating, and Dr. Jonathan Donath DC, MS is out to change that. An expert in a variety of non-surgical pain treatments, he is clinic director of Joint Effort Chiropractic & Westchester Spinal Decompression Center in White Plains. “Many patients come to us after pain killers, physical therapy, and even epidural injections failed to alleviate their pain,” he says. “My goal is to treat back and neck pain and ultimately fix the underlying problem so that surgery is prevented whenever possible.” Dr. Donath treats herniated and/or bulging discs, pinched nerves, spasms, strains and sprains, as well as sciatica and other conditions. His patients come from across the region, and even from around the world, ranging from children to senior citizens to professional athletes. Many prominent medical doctors in Westchester, Fairfield county, and NY City refer patients to him, and many physicians themselves seek Dr. Donath out for their own treatment. Dr. Donath, who has been in private practice in White Plains for the past ten years, is renowned as a top expert in the field of NonSurgical Spinal Decompression Therapy.
This cutting-edge FDA-cleared treatment is effective for even the most severe cases of herniated discs, sciatica, degenerative disc disease and failed back surgery, Dr. Donath says. “It’s remarkably effective, and we help a very high percentage of patients get out of pain and stay out of pain even when all other treatments have failed,” he adds.
This past September, Dr. Donath’s book was published. “The Neck & Back Pain Solution: Everything You Need to Know About NonSurgical Spinal Decompression Therapy” (available on amazon.com) outlines the procedure and its benefits. Non-surgical spinal decompression can be utilized when a disc is herniated, bulging, or compressed; these conditions may pinch a nerve or even the spinal cord and cause numbness, tingling, weakness, pain, or any combination of the above symptoms. The technique involves a sophisticated machine that applies controlled and highly specific and gentle forces on the spine, which cause the bulge or herniation to retract off the nerve or spinal cord. continued on page 10

AquaCycling: A new wave
of underwater wellness
By Dale McKnight Healthcare Correspondent
An exciting new way to get fit has hit local shores. It’s known as AquaCycling, and it merges a spinclass aerobic workout with an exercise session for the back, legs and upper body that can burn over 700 calories an hour - all done in the cool, relaxing water of a pool. “It’s popular in Europe, where community pools are quite common, and now it’s taking off in the U.S., says Kristina Georges, marketing and communications director for Aqua Wellness World, which holds AquaCycling classes at the Carver Center pool in Port Chester. Maryline & Laurent Bouhier introduced AquaCycling at their gym on the Caribbean island of St. Bart’s in 2008. They later brought it to New York, and Laurent is now CEO of Aqua Wellness World, which sells patented AquaCycling equipment and supplies. Maryline, a Master Coach with 20 years of experience, teaches the water workout classes at the Carver Center in Port Chester, one of just a handful of AquaCycling facilities in the metro area. Aqua Wellness World uses ergonomically designed Italian aqua bikes made with marine-grade steel and adjustable pedaling resistance. continued on next page

High Intensity Interval Training
During a one-hour AquaCycling class, riders work out on the bikes – they’re attached to the pool bottom with suction cups and can be removed between classes – submerged to waist level. Participants pedal and push against the natural resistance of the water, coached by the instructor, with music to keep up the momentum. Arm exercises are added for a muscletoning boost. Each class is customized to meet individual needs and preferences. “It’s a great heart-healthy cardio workout, plus you get the muscular benefits, and there’s no impact on the joints,” Georges says. AquaCycling was, in fact, originally used as a form of rehab in physical therapy. Aqua Wellness World has hosted American Heart Association fundraisers such as “Wear Red to AquaCycle” events. In March, more than 60 people joined in the event in Port Chester. Class members are usually anywhere in age from teens and on up. “Our oldest participant is 84,” says Georges. Aqua Wellness World launched AquaCycling classes two years ago, and now it’s introducing the concept of aqua training. Georges notes that aqua training doesn’t mean just bouncing around in a pool, or swimming laps for fitness – it’s a new idea called Aqua Training. This summer, two Aqua Training programs, known as AquaHiit – for “high-intensity interval training” - will be held in the Carver Center pool. Up to 10 people in each class will take part in a circuit of supervised exercise on various pieces of aqua workout equipment – it even includes an underwater treadmill and mini trampoline. “We’re also introducing an AquaDynamic class; it’s a group program set to music that will emphasize strength-building moves using the resistance of the water,” says Georges. Visit Aqua Wellness World’s Facebook page or call (914) 315-7215. Their website is aquawellnessworld.com. The Carver Center pool is located at 400 Westchester Ave. in Port Chester. Dr. Jonathan Donath continued from page 4
Spinal decompression is performed as a patient lies comfortably on the treatment table. A special belt connected to a computer is attached just above a patient’s hips and below the level of the discs being treated. A second belt is attached above the affected level. (The setup is similar for the neck.) The computer-regulated device provides cycles of varying degrees of subtle pulling, followed by relaxation. Each cycle gradually and gently stretches the spine and then relaxes it, initiating a negative pressure inside the spinal disc.
Healthcare News - Westchester This negative pressure creates a suction, or a vacuum effect. It enables water, nutrients, and disc material to be sucked back toward the center of the disc and off the nerves, thus relieving pain and enhancing proper healing. “The procedure is extremely comfortable,” Dr. Donath says. “Most patients enjoy it, and many even fall asleep.” Dr. Donath also treats joint pain, arthritis, headaches, pain during pregnancy, sportsrelated injuries, chronic muscle tightness and other musculoskeletal conditions. Dr. Donath is certified and specializes in Active Release Techniques (ART). ART is one of the most effective treatments available for
treating soft tissue injuries. This hands-on, non-invasive method is designed to break up adhesions and scar tissue that typically result from repetitive stress, overuse, and trauma. Dr. Donath is also experienced and certified in Graston Technique, a patented form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions. The technique utilizes specially designed stainless steel instruments to detect and treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation. Some conditions that are commonly improved by ART and Graston Technique include headaches/migraines, back and neck pain, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, plantar fasciitis, TMJ pain as well most types of tendonitis. Dr. Donath also utilizes Cold Laser therapy, a treatment that employs wavelengths of light able to penetrate deep within tissue in order to help accelerate the healing process. Cold Laser therapy can stimulate all cell types including muscle, ligament, cartilage and nerves. In addition, Dr. Donath is highly-skilled in the Diversified Technique of manual joint manipulation. This technique is used to restore proper motion to an injured or “stuck” joint. It is a highly useful approach to restore proper joint function. Whether it’s attending the latest pain relieving technique seminars or reviewing the current literature, Dr. Donath strives to learn more about innovations in the field – in order to be the most qualified doctor for his patients. Medical doctors continue sending patients to Dr. Donath because he consistently gets their patients out of pain – even when other therapies have failed. Dr. Donath’s results are fast. He is experienced, trustworthy, and does not prolong treatment with unnecessary procedures. “It’s my mission to provide not only relief for my patients but to solve the underlying cause of their conditions,” he says. Dr. Donath graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic, and was class valedictorian. Dr. Donath also has a Master’s degree in human nutrition. He is a frequent lecturer at Jacobi Medical Center in New York City and serves as an adjunct assistant professor at the School of Medicine at New York Medical College.

The law firm of Ely J. Rosenzveig & Associates, PC, achieves impressive results for clients in the areas of elder law, trusts and estates
Ely J. Rosenzveig and his son, Ariel, are proud to lead a respected elder law firm in White Plains serving families throughout the tri-state area. However, the family feel extends past father and son. The law firm of Ely J. Rosenzveig & Associates, P.C treats every client like family. “My dad and I are very involved in our clients’ lives, especially during difficult times,” Ariel Rosenzveig said. “We become close to them and we enjoy the relationships that we build. We value those relationships and are always attentive to our clients to help them with all of their needs. We take special pride in being there for our clients and their families through thick and thin.” Ely J. Rosenzveig & Associates practices in all areas of elder law, including trust and estate planning, administration, and litigation, tax counsel, asset protection and special needs planning, Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security disability benefits, guardianships, long term care planning, Medicaid spousal recovery claims, and Medicaid lien resolutions. Father and son pride themselves on an unyielding commitment to the advocacy of their clients’ interests. Estate planning is one of the most important steps any person can take to make sure that their final property and health care wishes are honored, and that loved ones are provided for in their absence. A comprehensive estate plan can resolve a number of legal questions that arise whenever anyone dies. The firm has achieved impressive results for clients on a host of Medicaid related issues, from getting Medicaid approvals for coverage of home care and institutional care benefits, to very accommodative resolutions of Medicaid spousal recovery claims, where the office of Medicaid aggressively pursues a claim for reimbursement for Medicaid benefits provided from the non-institutionalized (i.e., or “community”) spouse.
“Our firm has a thorough understanding of Medicaid and the experience to advocate aggressively and effectively for you and your family,” said Ely Rosenzveig, who has been an attorney for nearly thirty (30) years. “It is very rewarding work and we work tirelessly for our clients.” Elder law is very important. Appropriate estate and asset-protection planning can help preserve assets, reduce taxes, and help individuals qualify for Medicaid. As you or your loved one grows older, the quality of care you receive becomes increasingly important. At some point, it becomes necessary to make plans for the future to make sure that your needs and desires are met. When this time comes, it is important to enlist the experience of Ely J. Rosenzveig & Associates, so the process of planning for the future is stress-free for your family. This can be critical in the process of maintaining the well-being of you or your loved one. At Ely J. Rosenzveig & Associates, father and son have the opportunity to help clients plan across the span of many years. Often, it leads to advising multiple generations of the family, which Ely and Ariel Rosenzveig find rewarding. Over the course of time, they help clients as their lives and needs change, from naming the guardians of their minor children in their Wills, to planning for retirement, to protecting assets when in need of a skilled nursing facility or home care. Ely J. Rosenzveig & Associates builds a relationship with clients, which is built upon years of assisting them, often in difficult times in their lives, and helping them move beyond those times and provide them with peace of mind and financial security. Our firm is certainly proud to build these types of relationships with families such as yours.

8 Tips for Exercising in Summer Heat PAGE 16
July, 2016
Healthcare News - Westchester
Summer is the perfect time to go outside and have fun. It's one of my favorite times of year because there are so many outdoor activities to choose from. Everything is more fun outside, whether you're swimming, running or cycling. But the summer heat can be a problem if you're not careful, particularly in areas with extreme heat and humidity. If you don't drink enough water, you can get dehydrated and suffer from light-headedness and nausea. If not recognized, dehydration can even result in kidney failure and or, in extreme cases, death. However, if you drink too much water without replenishing your electrolytes, you can experience hyponatremia. This can lead to confusion, nausea, muscle cramps, seizures or even death in extreme cases. Here are some things to keep in mind when it comes to exercising in the heat: • The time of day is important. Avoid exercising from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It's the hottest part of day. Generally, the early morning is the best time to workout, especially if it's going to be scorcher that day. • Wear loose, light-colored. The lighter color will help reflect heat, and cotton material will help the evaporation of sweat. You may also want to try specially designed, "hi-tech" running shirts and shorts. They are often made from material meant to keep you cool. • Sunscreen is a must. It's important to protect your skin. You can get burned and suffer sun damage to your skin even on cloudy days. • Stay hydrated. Before you go out, drink a glass or two of water. Carry a bottle of water or even a hydration pack. Take a drink every 15 minutes, even when you're not thirsty. When you're done with your workout, have a few more glasses of water. • Replenish your electrolyte and salt intake while exercising. • If you can, choose shaded trails or pathways that keep you out of the sun. • Check the weather forecast before you start your workout. If there's a heat advisory, meaning high ozone and air pollution, you might want to take your workout indoors. These pollutants can damage your lungs. • Most importantly, listen to your body. Stop immediately if you're feeling dizzy, faint or nauseous. source: www.active.com
Women’s Rugby in Westchester! The White Plains Rugby Football Club, the region's premier rugby organization is pleased to announce the addition of White Plains Women's Rugby to the club. The metro NY area has a rich tradition of men's and women's rugby, but the Westchester area was without a women's team until now. Rugby has grown rapidly across college campuses throughout the country and rugby players often continue to play with community teams after graduation. An excellent way to continue a healthy active lifestyle, rugby is one of the oldest organized community sports. Rugby easily incorporates many different body types and experience levels. March for Babies in Style
March for Babies takes place in the Hudson Valley! It was a fun day out with people who share passion for improving the health of babies. There was family teams, company teams and people walking with friends - it's a great feeling knowing we're all helping real families. The event and walk raised money for babies right here in our community! March for Babies, a yearly, national walking event held through the March of Dimes foundation, looks to raise money for research that explores the causes behind premature birth and how to combat it. The national walking event helps fund research, support families and help women.

CPW hosts Its 4th Annual Autism Awareness Walk Healthcare News - Westchester July, 2016
On Friday April 29th, 2016, Cerebral Palsy of Westchester (CPW) hosted its 4th Annual Autism Awareness Walk at the United Preschool in White Plains. CPW celebrated the month of April being National Autism Awareness Month and ended the month with our preschool students hosting a walk. The walk began at 10:30 a.m. and all of the children had on matching blue shirts and multi colored sunglasses. With music playing, the students walked a couple of laps with smiles on their faces. The kids were excited and happy to come together for the annual awareness walk. A Pieces of Hope Tree was created and is on display at the Preschool. The tree is filled with personalized puzzle pieces that were purchased to raise money for our autism services. Custom designed by our students, this tree will raise awareness for all children and young adults who benefit from CPW’s autism services. CPW serves many children and young adults with autism and offers special programming for them and their families.

Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital opens new gallery in honor of former patient who found joy, respite through Art Therapy Program
Left to right, Gabrielle Grimaldi Bellettieri, Art Therapist, Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital; Ryan Reyes, Children’s Gallery artist and former patient; and Kelly, Michael and Mike Carpinone, family of Brittany Beckmann.
During many lengthy stays at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, Brittany Beckmann gained tremendous joy and comfort from her participation in the hospital’s art therapy program, and she became close with many of the doctors, nurses, staff members and patients. On Friday, June 3, Brittany’s family and hospital officials ensured that Brittany’s spirit – and the artwork of pediatric patients – would always be on display. Together, they unveiled “The Children’s Gallery,” a permanent display of children’s art dedicated in honor of Brittany, who was 24 when she lost her battle with leukemia in 2014. Brittany’s family underwrote the creation of The Children’s Gallery in appreciation of the expert and compassionate care she received at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network and the children’s hospital of the Hudson Valley and Fairfield County. Brittany was 16 when she first became a patient at the hospital. She went on to graduate from SUNY Cortland with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, even as she received treatment. “The program was really therapeutic for her,” said Kelly Carpinone, Brittany’s mother, who was among several family members who attended the dedication. “She enjoyed it so much. Even during the periods when she was in isolation, they would bring an easel into her room. And her paintings really showed how she was feeling.” Artwork from Brittany and other Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital patients was on display Friday, with new works to be rotated in seasonally. Several of the young artists and their families attended the dedication. Among the hospital staff members who attended Friday’s event was Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital’s board certified art therapist, Gabrielle Grimaldi Bellettieri, MA, ATR-BC, LCAT,CGP who launched the art therapy program in 2006. Bellettieri was the driving force behind the creation of the gallery, and she will act as its curator.
“So many of us became close with Brittany during her time here,” Bellettieri said. “She went through so much, but she always had a positive outlook. The art therapy program was really a great way for her to express herself and how she was feeling. And she was like a mentor to a lot of the patients. Since she was older than most of them, she took them under her wing, and they really looked up to her.” The gallery also features a plaque noting Brittany’s impact as “a warm and talented artist who brought laughter and joy to all she met.” It includes a quote from Brittany that provides a window into her soul. “Every hardship is an opportunity for growth and knowledge,” it reads. “Embrace every experience & look on the bright side. Everything happens for a reason. There’s a plan for you! Follow it.” For more information on Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, please visit WestchesterMedicalCenter.org/MFCH

John A. Coleman School receives School of Excellence Award from NASET for ninth consecutive year The John A. Coleman School, with campuses in White Plains and Yonkers, was just selected as a 2016-2017 National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET) School of Excellence. This is the ninth consecutive year that the Coleman School has received this honor. This distinction is bestowed upon select qualified licensed private special education schools in New York State. “Receiving this award for the ninth year in a row is a real honor,” said Maureen Tomkiel, Executive Director of the John A. Coleman School. “This award recognizes the Coleman School’s unwavering commitment to providing our students and their families with educational opportunities and care that are unparalleled and that allow each child to achieve his or her greatest potential. I am thankful for the dedication of over 200 educators, therapists, nurses, social workers, psychologists, support staff and other learning specialists whose expertise, enthusiasm and commitment to our mission made our selection as a School of Excellence possible,” Tomkiel said. Zika reinforces the importance of insect repellent Healthcare News - Westchester July, 2016
Prevention Around The House • Put screens on any windows or sliding doors to keep mosquitos out. • Get rid of standing water near your house or in your lawn, such as puddles, flower pots,
The Zika virus has been identified in many locations, including reported cases here in the United States. The virus — which is specifically dangerous for pregnant women where it can lead to birth defects in infants — has been identified in at least 35 countries or territories in the Americas. Additionally, there have been more than 350 travel-related cases reported in the United States. For the latest information on Zika go to: https://www.acep.org/zika/. While Zika is understandably in the news right now, the nation’s emergency physicians warn that there are also other, very dangerous, insect-borne illnesses here in the United States that we need to protect ourselves from this summer.
Insect Repellents • When you are outside, use insect repellent (bug spray) that contains an EPA-registered active ingredient, such as DEET. • Never use DEET on infants under 2 months old, but the CDC says most insect repellents can be used on children older than 2 months.
Proper Clothing • Mosquitos are most active when it is darker, such as during dawn or dusk. Wear long sleeves and pants during that time or consider staying indoors during those hours. • Sleep under a mosquito net when you are in an “at risk” location, such as outdoors at a campsite.

Cavaliere, CLTC Many parents of Special Needs children purchase life insurance policies inside a Special Needs Trust. Healthcare News - Westchester
HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley becomes the latest member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network
The Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth) and HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley (HealthAlliance) recently announced an important agreement that will enhance and expand healthcare for an entire region, while keeping essential services close to home for those who need them. “We couldn’t be happier with the relationship,” said David Scarpino, President and CEO, HealthAlliance. “It ensures that our community will receive the highest-quality healthcare, locally, now and well into the future. The agreement strengthens HealthAlliance’s existing healthcare offerings while providing new and more advanced services to meet a full range of patient needs. “Furthermore, HealthAlliance and WMCHealth share a vision for an innovative, healthcare delivery system,” Scarpino continued. “This vision includes the continuation of critical-access and skilled-nursing services in Margaretville, the development of HealthAlliance Hospital: Mary’s Avenue Campus into a single hospital with sophisticated medical technologies, and the evolution of HealthAlliance Hospital: Broadway Campus into a ‘medical village’ concept to bring a variety of much-needed community ambulatory services under one roof.” “Like our recent partnerships with MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie and Bon Secours Charity Health System, which has hospitals in Suffern, Warwick and Port Jervis, this relationship with HealthAlliance furthers WMCHealth’s goal of preserving and improving services in existing Hudson Valley healthcare facilities so local families can benefit from highquality care
close to home,” explained Michael D. Israel, President and CEO, Westchester Medical Center Health Network. “HealthAlliance has been — and now will continue to be — a conduit for high-quality care for Ulster and Delaware County residents, and WMCHealth will play an integral role in ensuring the continuation and enhancement of these services.” “Our community can be proud of this relationship, which many people worked long and hard to complete,” said HealthAlliance board Chairman Thomas Collins. “It brings to our hospital system a financially stable, comprehensive health network that’s based in the Hudson Valley. This relationship makes our community hospitals attractive, with WMCHealth’s commitment to bringing the best specialty physicians to our facilities, complementing the excellent doctors already here, and to making other advancements so HealthAlliance becomes our region’s hospital of choice. We’ll still be known for our convenience and personal touch, but we’ll also be recognized for our high patient satisfaction, awarded for our exceptional clinical outcomes, and privileged to have the finest physicians and employees.” HealthAlliance is a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network, effective immediately. WMCHealth will be the sole corporate member of HealthAlliance and will oversee its hospital operations, as well as operations at other HealthAlliance facilities. Heck, laser eye surgery can give people who are almost as blind as a bat perfect 20/20 vision. How amazing is that? That’s why it’s no surprise that technology might be able to solve your back and neck pain from herniated/bulging discs or sciatica… for good. Here is why: Back and neck pain can be devastating. And nothing is worse than going to doctor after doctor… trying treatment after treatment… spending money you can’t afford… and still suffering in pain. That’s why… I bet you would love to instantly end your pain… without any risk what-so-ever… and have it never come back for the rest of your life? Well, that might NOT be so easy. But, what if there was a wonderful advancement in technology that, with a handful of simple, non-invasive treatments, could possibly have you out of pain and on your way to healing naturally? Better yet, what if this technology could possibly heal your herniated/bulging discs (instead of cutting it out like surgery) so you have the best chance to live pain-free and do all the things you want and love to do? And what if this technology was: • FDA cleared! • Proven safe and effective! • Allows your herniated discs to heal naturally without the risky and dangerous side effects of surgery! • Relieves pain fast… in some cases in as little as 25 minutes! Well, guess what? There is such technology and there is a very good chance it can help you… like it has already helps thousands of herniated/bulging disc and sciatica sufferers all around the country… No Matter How Bad Your Pain Is, How Long You’ve Been Suffering Or How Many Other Treatments And Doctors Have Failed You! Don’t laugh. It’s really true. Here’s proof…
When you have a herniated disc, compressive forces cause your spinal bones to come together… basically squashing your disc. The space in between your bones decreases and the soft, jello-like disc material leaks out. This disc material that leaks out is called a herniated disc and can cause severe pain, numbness and tingling in your neck, back, arms or legs when the herniation pushes into and “pinches” a nerve. So it makes sense, if you could slightly pull the spinal bones apart… that would open up the space, take the pressure off the disc, the disc off the nerve and solve the problem. Right? But the only problem is… how do you do that? For years and years, doctors have been trying to do it with traction. But traction has been proven ineffective and often very painful. Why? Traction doesn’t work because when you have a herniated or bulging disc, the area is injured and when you try to move, your muscles go into spasm. Spasm is your body’s way of trying to protect you from causing further injury. That’s why traction hurts so much. As soon as the traction starts… your muscles overprotect the area and spasm. But the good news is: Now there is technology that out-smarts your body’s natural spasm reaction. In other words: It fools mother nature! This technology is called nonsurgical spinal decompression (NSSD) and here’s how it works… NSSD is very different from plain traction because it has advanced computer technology that actually senses your spinal muscles. When it starts to gently pull, it immediately knows when your muscles start to contract and it stops pulling. As soon as your muscles relax, it starts pulling again. The amazing thing is: the computer senses your muscles contraction so early… you don’t even feel what is going on. Which means you never feel any pain! In fact, the only thing most patients feel is… RELIEF!!! But the best part is: NSSD is able to gently separate your spinal bones which, in many cases, actually sucks the herniated disc material back into the disc where it belongs! This takes away your pain and allows your herniated and bulging discs to heal naturally!
And check this out: Treatments are pleasant and simple. All you have to do is lie on your back, listen to your favorite music, read a magazine… or… take a nap! The wonderful technology does everything while you simply RELAX the pain away! To sum up NSSD: • For most patients it is 100% painless… in fact many patients actually fall asleep during treatment! • Works fast! Most patients get relief after a handful of treatments – some after the very first! • Is non-invasive so it does not have the dangerous risks of surgery! • Gets to the root cause of the problem and helps it heal naturally! Isn’t modern technology wonderful? And wouldn’t you like to… Give This Great Technology A Try… For Free? If you would, there’s great news. There is a Doctor located at 222 Westchester Ave. Suite 405 in White Plains who has invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in this wonderful technology and has been treating herniated/bulging disc and sciatica patients with incredible success. His name is Dr. Jonathan Donath DC, MS and he is so excited about the results he’s been getting, he would like to share it with as many pain sufferers as possible. But There Is A Catch… There’s always a catch... isn’t there? Even though this technology has helped a majority of the patients Dr. Donath has treated… it is not a wonder cure and it does not help everyone.
On the right: healthy disc. Center: Herniated disc with soft disc material leaking out. On the left: Herniated disc material compressing or “pinching” nerve.
For that reason, Dr. Donath does a complete examination on every potential patient and only accepts you if he feels you are most likely to get the pain relief and outcome you are looking for. Dr. Donath’s Special Deal For You! Because the economy is so bad and Dr. Donath wants to help you if possible, he is offering the first 17 people who respond to this article a free consultation and NSSD qualification examination. And if you qualify for NSSD treatments, Dr. Donath will also give you one treatment for FREE! And if you do not qualify, Dr. Donath will help you find the best option for you. That’s why, if you suffer with pain from a herniated/bulging disc or sciatica you should call 914-259-8104 right now. If you are one of the first 17, she will schedule you within the next few days. If you are in a lot of pain or already scheduled for surgery, tell April and she will be sure to get you in immediately. Maybe even today.
On right: Herniated disc with spinal bones “squished” together. Center: NSSD slightly pulls the spinal bones apart, opens up the disc space and allows herniated material to move back into the disc. Left: Herniated material completely back in center of disc allows the disc to heal naturally. Your consultation and examination should take about 60 minutes. During this time you can get all of your questiones answered in a warm and friendly environment. You will know exactly what’s causing your pain and the best possible way to solve it. Dr. Donath will explain to you all your possible options along with his recomendations so you can make the best choice for YOU.
Why Limited To 17? Dr. Donath has limited the number he will accept right now to 17 because he does not believe patients should wait and they should also get the quality personal attention they deserve. When you go for your free visit, I’m sure you will see how unique and pleasant the experience is. It’s nice to be treated like a person and not a number or based on insurance coverage. It’s also nice to know exactly what’s causing your pain and how to relieve it as fast as possible. Dr. Donath’s favorite cases are the one’s that were able to cancel back surgery after only a handful of treatments. Dr. Donath also loves when a herniated disc patient that is in excruciating pain and thinks they’ve tried everything, lays down on the NSSD table, takes a 25 minute nap… and… wakes up with all their pain GONE! Just imagine how it would feel to have all your pain finally gone. Imagine going to bed and being able to sleep the entire night through… … and waking up refreshed and energized… ready to take on the brand new day – without the pain and stiffness that has been terrorizing you. And imagine finally knowing you have the solution to your herniated disc pain. Well, you may not have to just “imagine” anymore… because… NSSD might start relieving your pain… in just 25 minutes! So, if you’d like to see if you qualify and give this amazing technology a try for free… give April a call at 914259-8104 right now. Why wait one more day in pain when the solution may be one quick phone call away? Call now before someone else gets your free spot. One More Thing It’s Important… Ever since getting this wonderful technology, Dr. Donath’s office has been flooded with calls. For that reason, if when you call, the lines are busy or you go to voice mail… just keep calling back. The possibility of living pain-free is well worth the time and effort it may take you to get through and schedule your appointment. 914-259-8104
