Isabel Pin’s new board book about Anna and her family has a special highlight: the z-fold is designed as a figure. A story to read aloud, stand up, play with, use for guessing games and much, much more. Anna is four years old. She often takes her Papa by the hand and goes to visit her cousin, Leo, who is a lot older and takes guitar lessons from Paul, Anna’s mother’s boyfriend … This is the way Anna introduces us to her patchwork family. If you pull the z-fold apart to read the book, then Anna’s family appears to be sticking together at their cardboard hands and feet. By folding the cardboard pages, it is possible for Grandma Louise to visit Anna’s halfbrother, Max. And when Anna’s mother invites everyone to a party at the end, the whole family can dance in a circle. Then only the backs of Anna and her family can be seen, but their questions cleverly lead to a game of guessing who’s who in the family and their relationship to each other! »Isabel Pin proves that expressive art can be created for even very young children – for real artists, that is!« Eselsohr

100 % natural fun, inside and out!
© Frank Wiehle
A sturdy, board book by Katrin Wiehle that revolves around the topic nature and sustainability. This story features duck, frog and fish – where they live and what else can be discovered in the small pond. Which plants grow on the banks of the small pond? Which ones even grow well in the water? And what do tadpoles look like? Katrin Wiehle’s way of presenting the world to children fascinates both young and old. The calm, earthy colours and her simple, enchanting figures/characters are perfectly presented on the cardboard made of 100% recycling paper. The simple, short texts and distinct shapes provide access to the environment for even the youngest readers.
Katrin Wiehle likes tea, pencils and foxes. She lives in the U.S.A. with her husband and their cat and has worked as a freelance illustrator since 2009. She received the Talented Young Artist’s Prize from the German Academy for Children’s and Youth Literature in 2011 for her picture book debut, »Professor Pfeffers tierisches Abenteuer«. Additionally, her nature book, Mein kleiner Wald (My Little Forest) was awarded most beautiful book by Stiftung Buchkunst in Germany. This made her very happy. www.katrinwiehle.de

Life with a pig is easier than imagined. The most important thing is to have enough to eat and that everyone knows their role, then everyone will have fun. Yet Lotte, the pig, continues to grow and grow – and when things become cramped, the fun disappears. It soon becomes clear – Lotte has to go! The much-loved pig ends up on a farm. Quite a shock for Lotte! It stinks here … and the things the animals eat … And they don’t even have a bathroom! But the worst thing is that there is no one who calls her Lotte … What keeps her here? Nothing! One day she sets off, looking for a new home, for warmth and security – and finds happiness. A poetic interweaving of text and illustration – amusing, sad and wonderfully fleeting. It directly touches the heart.

Have you heard about it? Flamingos are not really flamingos, they are monsters. It’s only a rumor. It doesn’t mean it’s true. But it could be … The picture book artists Martin Baltscheit and Christine Schwarz once again tackle a very human topic with wonderfully ironic humor.
Writer Martin Baltscheit and the illustrator Christine Schwarz live deep in the forest where fable creatues live. They observe, write and sketch stories from the land of parables and allegories. Together with their twins Ben and Teo (age 4), they lead an adventurous life together with wolves, lions, books, films and alphabet cookies.
Rumors spread like wildfire. Stork, Duck, Parrot and other bipeds know something suspicious about the ever-silent (and, by the way, sleeping) Flamingo – it is probably even dangerous! But sometimes even the most sleepy flamingo will wake up and start to defend itself. Martin Baltscheit carries the effect of rumors, suspicions and prejudices to the extreme with delightful slapstick comedy and fabulous support from Christine Schwarz, who congenially illustrates the victim’s metamorphose.

This includes the 500 most important words in our language, the words that are used most frequently. By learning these words, a sound basis is formed. The Books Non-fiction books that are similar to activity books – each volume contains unusual ideas for exploring, testing or making things. Those who want to try these experiments themselves have to read the texts. Nature is a true quick-change artist – a caterpillar spins a cocoon and days later flies away as a butterfly. A tiny appleseed brings forth a huge tree and a mother’s continually growing tummy is suddenly gone when the baby appears! Children can trace approximately 100 fascinating transformations with this creative concept picture book – and turn into quick-change artists themselves. With glasses, hat, cape and make-up new identities can be tested. Masks, pencils and paint can help us change ourselves and others – in reality and on paper. Many pictures (often baffling) give easy-to-follow directions. And much more – we meet frog princes and straw gold, werewolves and ghosts in fairy tales and myths. We populate the whole room with all kinds of nasty monsters … What a relief when the sunshine turns the night into day and brings things back to normal! Almost everything. Look closely – the world is constantly changing and is full of magic!

Hurray! The three friends come across a map for a hidden treasure in the village pond. Since then, things in the village have been in an uproar. And unfortunately there is also no peace … Helme Heine’s first novel since his popular title Friends.
Helme Heine, born in 1941 in Berlin, is one of the most renowned picture book artists of our time. He created a classic with the book Freunde (Friends), popular all over the world. Today he lives in New Zealand, writes screenplays for audio and film productions, creates sculptures and furniture, works as a producer and hopes to live long enough to be able to do all the projects and complete all the plans he has in mind.
The three adventurers have barely gone round the first bend on their bike to find the treasure, when along comes HORST and settles in among the villagers in Mullewapp. After just a short time he manages to turn the sleepy farm into a real wild boar dictatorship and commands the hens, Aunt Milli and the others to attend to his needs. The storage bins in the barn are soon empty and the farm is in shambles … Will the three friends return from their treasure hunt in time to free the village from his terror? The new adventure featuring Helme Heine’s most popular picture book heroes is turbulent, suspending and once again proves that using the mouse’s cleverness, the rooster’s courage and Percy’s fat bottom no path is too rough for them together.
