Az 1621-es svéd hadszervezési modell és annak angol adaptációj története Árvai Lajos The content of the following paper is based on an english manuscript called "The Swedish Discipline, Religious, Civile, and Military". This document is of great value because it shows the spread of the Swedish model of military organisation. A significant proportion of the Swedish armies entering the Thirty years’ war were mercenary troops, including soldiers of Scottish and English origin. As Robert Monro writes in his memoir these troops were set up by King Gustav II of Sweden according to the new principle of organizing the army, and after his death in 1632, this model of army organization and their experience in the war were brought home to their native comrades. As a result, when the English Civil War broke out, this model was used by the Presbyterian Scots and English alike, so much so that a copy of the manuscript in question was found in the ownership of the presbyterian general Donald Mackey. However, compared to its original Swedish counterpart, we can see that its structure and emphasis has changed. This paper aims to give an explanation how and why this shift happened.
