BEMIDJI — Due to a lack of snow, the 43rd annual Buena Vista Snowjourn originally scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 27, has been canceled. “Race organizers are disappointed to have to cancel, but unfortunately, there has not been enough snow this year to hold a ski event on the Buena Vista trails,” a release said. “Race organizers look forward to holding Snowjourn next year, Jan. 11, 2025, with, hopefully, an abundance of snow.”

BEMIDJI — The city of Bemidji Parks and Recreation Department will offer a virtual ice fishing tournament for youth Feb. 1-12. This program is designed to get youth outside in the name of fun and competition, a release said. After participants register, they will receive a Bemidji Parks and Recreation Tournament Card. The five-week course will be led by singer, guitarist and educator Antonio Arce and will explore finger-picking techniques and the history of different songs and their authors, a release said. Song choices will include “Falling in Love With You,” “Play Me,” “Time In a Bottle” and more. The course is for intermediate to advanced guitarists ages 15 and older. Reading music is not a requirement for the class. Arce was born in Salta, Argentina as the eldest son of a professional musician. “Although Arce picked up the guitar very quickly he did not learn the names of the chords or
