Babe’s Burnout car show returns on July 12 –13

BEMIDJI — Babe’s Burnout car show is coming back to Bemidji this summer even bigger than before.

The second annual Babe’s Burnout car show is returning to the Sanford Center parking lot after a successful inaugural show last July, which hosted more than 3,000 people and 130 cars.

Festivities will kick off from 4 to 10 p.m. on Friday, July 12, with live music in the beer tent and the first round of the cornhole tournament, and will continue from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, July, 13.

This is a free event for the community to gather, listen to music, check out hundreds of cars, shop vendors and enjoy the Bemidji summer with friends and family.

This year promises all the camaraderie of last year and even more. This year, Babe’s Burnout car show will feature numerous vendors and food trucks, the return of the kid zone, live music and a beer tent, a cornhole tournament, an award ceremony, a dyno and a burnout pit.

“We were so happy with last year’s car show that we knew we had to go even bigger this year,”

Bobby Anderson, general manager of The Sanford

Center, said in a release. “We’re keeping everything the community loved last year, but adding even more, starting with adding an extra day to kick off festivities on Friday and the coveted burnout pit.”

All car spaces for participants will be on a first-come, first-serve basis this year with a full parking lot anticipated. Cars that load in for the show will run from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, with a $10 entrance fee, which includes a complimentary swag bag. Vendor spots are limited, if you are interested in becoming a vendor,

please reach out to edukek@thesanfordcenter.com to apply.

A full detailed timeline will be available in the upcoming weeks.

“Babe’s Burnout Car Show has something for everyone, and we’re so excited to be partnering once again with Z99 to bring this show back to the community,” stated Anderson.

Follow Babe’s Burnout Car Show on Facebook for more information and updates following the announcement or check out thesanfordcenter. com/events/ babesburnoutcarshow.

BEMIDJI — Beltrami County Historical Society will host a guided bus tour, “The New Deal in Beltrami County,” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24. Sponsored in part by Beltrami County Development Funds, the excursion will take off at 10 a.m. from the Beltrami County History Center located at 130 Minnesota Ave. SW in downtown Bemidji.

The tour invites participants to embark on a captivating journey through the rich history of the New Deal era in Beltrami County, a release said.

The New Deal, a transformative series of initiatives introduced during the Great Depression by President Franklin D.

Roosevelt, left an indelible mark on American society. Designed to alleviate economic hardships, the New Deal programs spurred employment, infrastructure development and cultural enrichment across the nation. Beltrami County is home to many New Deal projects, each contributing to the region’s unique heritage.

During the tour, participants will have the opportunity to explore key sites that reflect the legacy of the Civilian Conservation Corps, the Works Progress Administration and other New Deal initiatives. Stops include the historic Kelliher Auditorium, the picturesque CCC Camp Rabideau near Blackduck, the scenic Bemidji State Park and

the iconic Fireplace of States. Specially guided tours at Camp Rabideau and Bemidji State Park will offer in-depth perspectives on the craftsmanship and conservation efforts of the era. Additionally, a CCC-inspired lunch will be provided. During the event, expert guides will provide insights into the significance of these landmarks and the lasting impact of the New Deal on the local landscape. To purchase tickets, visit beltramihistory.org, call (218) 444-3376, or visit the Beltrami County History Center during open hours 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
