Public Library Austin, Tx

Critic: Charlton Lewis Spring 2008 An unconventional institution, this place of community is radically reconcieved. The campus facility nests deep within a block of East Austin to foster a neighborhood constituency. Program and street edge are carefully considered in this problematically gentrified area.

Hill Country Winery Austin, Tx

Critic: Ernesto Cragnolino Spring 2009

This proposed design for Fall Creek Vineyards is driven by gravity-fed production methods. The primarily unconditioned building cascades down a site with commanding views of the surrounding country and vineyards. The building moderates microclimates by using water, wind, and thermal mass.

Casa De Luz Austin, Tx

Critic: Ernesto Cragnolino Fall 2007 This proposed lifestyle center in the heart of downtown Austin is conceived of macrobiotic roots. Utilitarian space is prized and an interconnectivity between rooms allows a degree of personalization and friendliness among the diversely used spaces. A vocal meditation chamber is the animated heart of the complex.

Laguna Gloria Galleries

Critic: Michael Benedikt Fall 2010 The Austin Museum of Art holds a special position and ability to help give identity to the arts in the city of Austin. It is a place that exudes untraditional yet healthy expression. The existing museum is housed in a repurposed commercial space that lacks a voice that can be heard amongst the creativity. The newly proposed galleries lend a face to this poorly defined public entity while fostering a sensitivity to the existing historical site of Laguna Gloria. Two distinct buildings are created, where architecture can become both sculptural and economically functional. The administrative and entry functions of the new facility are carefully draped around the existing villa and ampitheater to create symbiotic courtyards through adjacencies. From this grand reception, visitors are released into the forested peninsula for an immersive experience with the sculpture. The natural views and beauty of the landscape are captured throughout the site in moments of contrast against highly refined sculptural insertions. This progression crescendos in the gallery experience of simply elegant and carefully sited construction.

Solar Decathlon 2011

Position: Project Manager- 2D Output Critic: Vincent Snyder Spring 2010- Team of 11 Students The CURV Appeal Home provides homeowners the means to directly participate in the energy economy at an affordable price, moving them from energy consumers to energy producers. Through the use of sustainable design approaches, materials, and energy efficient systems, the CURV Appeal Home becomes more than just an “off the grid” house; it represents an effort to economize building “green.” Sustainable design approaches governed our process to create a single, modular shell with layers and components that interact with the environment to provide an energy-efficient and comfortable home. Materials were chosen based on several criteria including multifunctional capability. The exterior consists of a corrugated metal façade that forms the identifying curves. This material is both economical and structural. Further, the metal also functions to reflect heat away from the home.Energy efficient systems are used throughout the home: photovoltaic panels integrated into the roof, fiber-optic and LED lighting prototypes, evacuated tube solar hot water heating, innovative HVAC and engineering systems design, and an aquaponic garden that provides enough food for two people.
