‘Helen’ 1950’s Vintage Dress This delicious dress is constructed from delicate peach lace and tulle and would be gorgeous as a prom or wedding dress. Peach lace covers the bust cups and top of the back and the midriff section is covered in ruched tulle, leading to a point at centre front. Delicate spaghetti straps support the dress. The full skirt is peach tulle, supported by a layer of net and finally a peach dress lining. The metal zip is inserted in the side seam. There are two labels, the first reads ‘McDonalds’ and the second, ‘Created by Kay.Selig Inc’ Condition – Excellent – a slight tear to the tulle at the base of zip. ‘Sheila’ 1950’s ‘Bubble’ Dress
Beautiful peach chiffon bubble dress with a horizontally gathered bodice and single shoulder strap decorated with a bow at the front. The dress is interlined with a layer of net to give body and the hem of the dress is gathered and folded upwards to achieve the ‘bubble’ effect. The dress is boned and fully lined, with an additional layer of muslin giving further fullness to the skirt. The muslin is hemmed with a narrow band of lace trim. The dress is finished with a metal zip at centre back. The label reads ‘A Herald fashion’. Condition – Excellent Bust 32” | Waist 25” | Hips Free Size X-Small. ‘Carrie’ 1950’s Prom Dress This is the perfect ‘Cinderella, you shall go to the ball’ dress. Stunning powder blue tulle prom dress with acetate lining featuring strapless bodice with stays, and shelf, and shirred bust to flatter the figure, culminating in a full skirt which looks amazing with a net petticoat underneath. ‘Judy’ 1950’s Vintage Style Dress Gorgeously delicate pure silk lilac dress. The strapless bodice features a sheer overlay with hundreds and hundreds of tiny silver sparkles and the dress is finished with a beautiful corsage with a sparkling vintage button at its centre and a gorgeous organza and net purple petticoat. ‘Diana’ Vintage Dress Absolutely stunning full-length teal dress in cotton velvet. The boned and lined bodice is ruched and shaped at the front to reveal a layer of pleated tulle which is draped over the bust. The back of the bodice is softly gathered into a centre back seam. A full length, gathered velvet skirt completes this gorgeous dress. Condition is very good – there are some very faint discolouration to the velvet on the folds of the bodice and a few faint brown marks near the hem of the dress. These are barely noticeable but we like to be entirely honest with our descriptions! Condition – Very Good Bust: 32” | Waist: 26” | Hips Free Length underarm to hem: 49” Equivalent size: UK8 £175.00
‘Jane’ 1940/50’s Prom Dress
Striking 1940/50s dress combining chartreuse and chocolate brown tulle. The strapless boned bodice features copper sequins over the left bust, whilst the chocolate brown tulle sweeps across the front and back of the bodice. The chartreuse tulle falls to the floor and the brown overlayer is edged with the copper sequins and drapes down to a point at centre front and centre back. The dress fastens with a metal zip at the left hand side, with a metal hook and eye fastening at the top and waist. There is a shimmering two-tone taffeta lining, picking up the green and bronze, and the bodice is fully boned. Condition is good – there are inevitably a few tears and fraying to the tulle at the base of the dress, but these are not obvious when the dress is worn. ‘Rebecca’ 1950’s Vintage Dress This is the sweetest little 1950s dress – perfect for a wedding or prom. A pale pink lining is overlaid with white lace and tulle. The bust cups are covered in pleated tulle and surrounded by the lace which covers the remainder of the dress. Fabric flowers decorate the top and at the hem there are six rows of ruffled net which curve around the dress. Condition – excellent – there is a slight tear to the lace at the base of the zip, where it must have got caught at some time, otherwise no issues to note. 1950’s Vintage Dress Beautiful red dress featuring yards and yards of lace and tulle for a truly showstopping, red carpet gown. The bust area is covered in layers of pleated tulle, front and back and then a lace bodice continues down to a waist seam, from which the lace continues to flow in an arc from mid thigh at the front, to mid calf at the back. Yards of gathered tulle complete the skirt, which is supported by another layer of red tulle and finally the dress lining. Condition – Very Good

‘Evelyn’ 1950’s Halterneck Dress
This gorgeous rich blue halterneck dress features a midnight blue flocked taffeta bodice and flattering pleated bust cups. These pleats extend into the halter neck, forming tucks towards the back of the neck. The full tulle circular skirt falls from the waist. Two layers of royal blue tulle are topped with a darker layer of navy tulle, and there is a navy blue lining which, together, give a stunning multi-tonal effect. The halter fastens with a press stud fastening and hook and eye closures at the back of the neck and there is a metal zipper at the side of the dress. The dress is hand-made. There is a small tear to the two underlayers of tulle at the front waist and a tiny 1cm tear in the top layer of tulle at the right side. ‘Laura’ 1950’s Vintage Dress Black taffeta dress with pretty pink silk flower embroidery. The dress features princess seams, and a sweetheart neckline with narrow shoulder straps. The bodice is boned and lined and the dress fastens with a metal zip at the rear. An overlocked hem suggests that the length has been altered at a later date. A pretty dress in a larger size! Condition – Very Good.

‘Linda’ 1950’s Vintage Dress Beautiful Polka dot Prom dress from the La Reine by Retta Day label. The dress features a top layer of ivory tulle with black polka dots and a black lace trimmed bodice, over a second layer of ivory tulle which features matching black lace trim on the skirt. There is then a lining finished with a lace trim at the hem, and finally a layer of muslin to add body. The dress fastens at the back with a metal zip. Condition – very good – no tears noted in the tulle. The muslin underskirt has some staining but this is not noticeable when worn. ‘Jacqueline’ 1950’s Lace and Tulle Dress and Bolero Oh my word! This would make the most gorgeous wedding dress. This 1950s dress is simply beautiful and in excellent condition. The dress features a strapless, boned white lace bodice which crosses over at the front and is edged around the top with palest pink and white pleated tulle. The waist is cinched in with an inbuilt pale pink pleated cummerbund. The skirt is very full with a layer each of palest pink and white tulle falling from a lace panel which curves around the hips. The dress is supported with a layer of pale pink lining and has a metal zip at centre back. The little cap-sleeved lace bolero curves around the bust and is edged with the two shades of tulle to complement the dress.A tulle lining gives additional body and structure. from t u o d Stan d!9 w o r c e th ‘Rhonda’ 1950’s Vintage Dress Pale pink and black combine to make a stunning combination in this gorgeous tulle and lace dress. The bust area is covered in pink tulle. Below this is a row of black velvet ribbon with two little bows at the front. The middle section of the dress is black lace with a floral pattern and this is decorated with three more rows of velvet ribbon, one on the bodice and two sweeping round the edge of the skirt and finishing at the back with little velvet bows again. Below the lace is black tulle which forms the lower section of the skirt. Underneath are two layers of pink tulle, a pink lining and then a layer of stiffened fabric to provide volume. ‘Robin’ 1950’s Sequin and Tulle ruffled Dress This gorgeous red number is guaranteed to get you noticed! The strapless bodice features a flattering shelf bust. The bust area is covered in rows of red tulle ruffles and shimmering red sequins. The remainder of the bodice extends down to the hips with rows and rows of horizontal gathered tulle. The skirt falls from mid hip to lower calf and features yards and yards of gathered tulle covered in swirling red tulle ruffles and topped with shimmering red sequins to complement the bodice. There is a second layer of tiered tulle for fullness supported by a red lining. The dress is boned and fastens with a metal zip at centre back. ‘Christine’ Hand crafted 1950’s style Wedding Dress Perfect for a 50s inspired wedding, ‘Christine’ is a replica of a 1950s dress. The bodice features a beautiful gathered tulle drape and an asymmetric front covered in a silver, shimmering lace. The skirt is circled with an asymmetric drape of the lace, two layers of tulle and a base layer of white polyester satin. The bodice is fully boned and the dress fastens at the back with a hand-finished zip – a really pretty ‘Princess’ dress benefiting from couture techniques and hand finishing. ‘Lula’ 1960’s Vintage Dress Sweet little sleeveless V-necked empire-line dress with A-line skirt. The dress features lurex stripes in two shades of pink on a cream satin-look background, and the dress is finished with a pink and silver trim around the neck, down the centre-front and around the empire line seam. It is fully lined and finished with a metal zip at the centre back. Condition – Mint

‘Nancy’ 1950’s Vintage Dress We call this the ‘Tinkerbell’ dress! Very unusual 1950s dress in green tulle dotted with tiny crystal beads. The tulle is pleated over the front of the bodice and the top of the bodice is decorated with glass beads. The top layer of tulle curves round the front of the skirt, then there are two further layers of tulle and finally a pale green lining. The pale blue and sequin decoration on the back of the dress (pictured above) does mask a repair but this has been very well executed. The glass beads continue all the way down the centre back zip. Label reads ‘Sylvia Ann Bridal Original’. Condition – Very Good – for repair, please read above

‘Sandra’ 1950’s Vintage Dress Beautiful turquoise prom dress with diamante straps and gorgeous three dimensional flower detail. The dress also features ruching over the top of the bodice and a diagonal skirt overlay, on to which has been applied silk roses, leaves and stems. The dress is manufactured from a man-made chiffon effect fabric and the skirt is supported by a layer of net, lining and stiffened under-layer. Condition – Excellent

‘Pamela’ 1950’s Vintage Dress This cute little purple number is constructed from a synthetic fabric which has been ruched and gathered over the bodice. A central diamond shape is decorated with matt silver sequins and beads and the semi full skirt is gathered into the waist of the dress. Sequins decorate the shoulder straps. Some beads and sequins are missing on the front and shoulder straps. The purple lining has faded in places and ideally needs replacing. The original metal zip has been replaced and the muslin inner layer has been removed. Despite this, the dress is still very wearable and there is nothing here that could not be fixed. ‘Jean’ 1950’s Pink Satin Beaded Cocktail Dress This gorgeous pale pink satin dress features glass beading on the bodice interspersed with rhinestones and pearls to form a shimmering floral pattern. This is overlaid with a pleated bodice panel which dips to a point at centre front. The A line skirt is pleated at the front . Waist ties extend from the side seams and tie in a bow at centre back. The dress features shoulder straps, boned bodice and a metal centre back zip. The skirt is interlined with a stiffening for added structure and weight. The front of the bodice is lined with silk, and the back with an inner layer of the satin. Condition – Very Good A few faint spots on the skirt and there is a small hole on the back bodice where the boning has worn through but this is hidden once the dress is tied at the back. It features a ruched velvet band across the top of the taffeta bodice and then from the waist down there are alternate ruched squares of velvet and taffeta all the way round the skirt. ‘Alice’ 1950’s Vintage Dress Oh to be tiny enough to wear this gorgeous dress! This is the archetypal 1950s American prom dress. Perfect for a wedding or prom, it features layers of ruffled tulle over the bust area, enhanced by a yellow velvet ribbon tied in a bow. The remainder of the bodice is covered in ivory lace. The skirt is fully circular and has two layers of tulle, with the upper layer adorned with semi-circular ruffles of lace which circle around the sides of the skirt. ‘Kathr yn’ 1950’s French Lace Dress This delicate navy blue French lace dress features a scalloped ‘V’ neckline and scalloped hem. The dress features flattering seaming around the bust, with softly pleated bust cups. The full length sleeves are finished with a scalloped edge. The panelled skirt falls from the waist seam and the dress fastens with a metal zipper at centre back. Please note that the dress is supplied with a French slip, as shown, but this is not original to the dress. ‘Susan’ 1970’s Jean Allen Vintage Dress Really sweet little Jean Allen candy pink striped prom dress in a silk effect fabric. The font and style of the Jean Allen label dates it as 1970s, but it looks very 1950s! The strapless striped bodice leads into a plain pink midriff section which leads to a point at centre front and features little covered buttons. The skirt is very full and almost ankle length. ‘Dorothy’ 1950’s Vintage Dress Such a cute little dress, originally by Blanes, London. Featuring double shoulder straps and a satin bodice with delicate pearl beading and pale blue and silver embroidery. The dress features a gathered midriff and is fully lined. Can be worn with a petticoat underneath for added fullness, but as you can see from the photo, is just as stunning without. Condition is good. There is very slight discolouring under the arms but this is hardly noticeable. The dress has been altered at some time in the past but this does not detract from its beauty.

This gorgeous dress features a round neck with delicate piping, a lace bodice which is scalloped at the waist, little sleeves and interesting diagonal tucks and pleats at the left side of the waist. The back of the dress features princess seams, a back vent and a centre back metal zip. ‘Kathleen’ 1950’s Vintage Dress Beautiful black dress featuring silver embroidered swirls and flowers on the bodice. Each flower boasts a ruby red gem at its centre. The neckline is beautifully shaped and immediately under the bust there is a fabric tuck. The dress falls from the waist into a full circle skirt. The back of the dress is plain and the metal zip is inserted into the left hand seam. Condition – Excellent At one stage there must have been a belt, but this is missing.

‘Carole’ 1950’s Vintage Dress This is the quintessential 1950s dress. The beautiful blue background is littered with tiny flocked flowers and dots. The square neckline at the front is emphasised by a ruched border and little bow and at the back the neck falls to a deep ‘V’. The bodice flows down to a point at the centre front and back and the skirt features a wide ‘V’shaped ruched border and a full skirt, which is supported by a layer of lining and muslin for added fullness. ‘Abigail’ 1970’s Vintage Dress A true 1970’s Saturday Night Fever dress! Made from a bright pink polyester, this dress drapes beautifully. The ruched bodice is gathered into a centre front seam. The straps extend into a a deep ‘V’ neckline which is decorated with fuschia pink braid and sequins, repeated again around the waist. The skirt is gathered and flows down to the floor in true ‘disco diva’ style. The label reads ‘Julie Made in England’.

‘Elizabeth’ 1950’s Vintage Dress A really unusual dress in beautiful olive satin which has been faced with a stiffening fabric to maintain body. There are additional internal panels of this stiffening over the hips which give an amazing shape. The dress features a contrast sash and central skirt panel in a sage green with stunning petal beading, crystals and silver embroidery. The bodice is boned front and back and the dress is beautifully made. Manufacturers label states ‘Paul Jonas, London’.
