qENEVI.E.VE B O ~ Nellie Forbush Genevieve is an experienced leading lady and comes to the Bendigo stage having performed in both Melbourne and Shepparton. From the age of 16 Genevieve has performed in Eisteddfods and talent shows and has always loved to sing. This love of music led her to theatre where she won numerous roles. From smaller parts in productions such as Dei Fledermaus, Merry Widow and Carmen with Pro-Am Productions to leading roles as Mabel in Pirates of Penzance, Laurie in Oklahoma and the Duchess in Me and My Girl for which she won a Georgy Award in 1999. Genevieve is a teacher with Bendigo Mining giving presentations to primary and secondary students in our region about mining and the environment. She finds performing challenging and exciting. Meeting people from all parts of the community and making lasting friendships is another big attraction to performing in theatre. Genevieve believes that the adrenalin rush that is live theatre is a must for everyone at least once!
ANDREW PURCELL Emile de Becque A relative newcomer to musical theatre, Andrew was a member of the male chorus in Bendigo Theatre Company's production of Carousel in 2002. The role of Emile de Becque is Andrew's first lead role. More accustomed to the glare of the lights of an operating theatre where he works as a specialist Anaesthetist, Andrew has long held an interest in the 'other' type of theatre. Early forays into school drama and orchestra, along with much encouragement from friends within the Bendigo Theatre Company paved the way for his current involvement in South Pacific. Above all, Andrew discovered that community theatre has been a great introduction to a wide array of wonderfully talented people right here in Bendigo!

JOANNE qASKE.LL Bloody Mary Joanne comes to South Pacific with a long list of performances in community theatre. Joanne has played some of the most colourful characters to hit the stage. Eliza Dolittle in My Fair Lady, Ado Annie in Oklahoma, Miss Hannigan in Annie and the Stepmother in Cinderella are just a few of the strong female roles Joanne has performed. A long way from her role as Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz Joanne's wealth of experience in character roles is obvious in her wonderful portrayal of the devious Bloody Mary in this production of South Pacific. Whilst she may play a tyrant on stage, Joanne is in real life a primary school music and drama teacher and brings out the best in her young students at St Joseph's Primary School. Leading the choir and singing at numerous masses and weddings, Joanne gives of her talents to the community over and over again. Joanne enjoys the challenge of theatre and particularly enjoys performing with friends - old and new - who share her passion for theatre.

Greg has an extraordinary ability to take a co ncept and produ ce memorable and complex sets working within the co nstraints of the theatre and budget. South Pacific sees Greg in the role of Stage Manage r also and the cast and crew are looking fo rward to working under his leadership d uring this pro du ction. Greg gladly admits th at the highlight of his theatre career has been working in shows with his two daughters in Les Miserables, Call Me Madam and Cinderella. Greg wo uld like to thank all the people who have helped him in the co nstruction of this set and working backstage. Every show requires an enormous number of volunteers and he says th e response from cast and crew has been overwhelming.

BRE.NDAN O'BruEN Lighting Designer South Pacific m arks Brendan's fo urth lighting design for a major musical with Bendigo Theatre Company (BTC). His most recent designs include 'Carousel' and 'Just th e Boys'. Brendan is currently employed at The Capital as a full tim e Theatre Technician and takes time out of his busy schedule to design lighting fo r BTC. Brendan's research techniques are nothin g if not imag inative. He says he spent time at Lake Eppalock over summ er to "get a feel fo r the beach" and spe nt time with his two brothers and two sisters to "get a feel for wa rtime conflict". Although Brendan says he tried stealing a boat to get to Bali Ha'i we're not sure he went that far ( although he was spotted selling grass skirts to locals) . It is obvious Brendan enj oys the fun of being in volved with co mmunity theatre and hopes yo u enj oy South Pacific as m uch as he has enj oyed working on it.
RE.BECCA Tru.MBLE Graphic Designer South Pacific is the third BTC production Bee has been involved in since beginning her career at Bart'n'Print in 2000. Since being involved with designing the programs with BTC, Bee has been amazed by all the hard work that everyone puts in, and also the people from all walks of life who come together to be involved in thea tre. She hopes th e audience enjoy the production and of co urse that they all purchase a programme!
