Miralles Tagliabue EMBT has a main office in Barcelona and a branch in Shanghai, operating all over the world.

Miralles Tagliabue EMBT can be seen as a melting pot of ideas, a meeting point of traditions and innovations; where each project presents a challenge and at the same time a new learning opportunity.

It’s without question an open approach, full of exploration and experimenting. Even so the high level of conceptual thought is fundamental. The studio itself reflects the belief of changing the environment by observing and respecting the site, its history and culture.

EMBT’s work includes various iconic buildings and public spaces to the city of Barcelona: Gas Natural tower, Santa Caterina Market, Diagonal Mar Park. It also includes a number of high profile projects in other European cities Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh, Utrecht’s Town Council and Music School in Hamburg.

Fudan University is one of the oldest and most selective universities in China. The new campus of the Fudan University offers the perfect opportunity to embody the spirit of Fudan in the new buildings. All the public gathering spaces of the new buildings are covered by a roof-landscape. “Heavenly lights” can now be experienced everyday by the students while they study and gather at the university.
This project has a strong iconic component and responds to a peculiar geometry, which reflects an effect of torsion and is distantly inspired by the apparent movement of the wicker panels of the spanish pavillion in Shangai
The magical island will be a complete experience with natural and artificial features that will play together with the comic museum experience. A whole reinvention of the concept of a museum experience, a very brand new concept that will be thought exclusively for the city of Hangzhou and for China; making it become a world unique reference in its field.
We propose an open space featuring a dance floor with a labyrinthine path guiding the steps of those dancing the spring dance around the central feature - a feature that generates and guides the movement of the dance, filling the surround space with life. People and traffic will move differently in Ricard Viñes Square, where pedestrians will own the public space.
The painter Zhang Da Qian was born in Neijiang. He is known as the most legendary master of Chinese painting during the 20th century. Neijian city is Zhang Da Qian’s hometown, the city is promoting itself by emphasizing Zhang Da Qian’s art. The site is located peak of Dong Tong Lu, Yuan mountain, west of Xi Lin monastery, south of Tuo River.
The atmosphere condition of Chinese landscape paintings is seeked for this garden. Building an artificial scenario as natural as possible where to play the illusion of nature. The materials chosen for the garden should come from the earth to get the sensation of being in contact with nature when feeling the texture of stones with your hands and with your feet.
THE PARLIAMENT... IN PEOPLE’S MINDS. The Parliament will belong to a broader thought, and its specific place is not crucial. The Parliament building should come out of a clear and strong statement, independent of the site’s circumstances. The statement has political implications.
The Santa Caterina Market was a convent, a space where the sky opened. Truly, if you go to this large esplanade, you realize the scale of it in relation to the rest of the city and, where the market stands, the expanse of sky is enormous, then, you can almost sketch what happens to the space in the old city, looking to sky, looking upwards.

复旦大学是历史悠久、享誉海内外的国家级 重点学府之一。 复旦新园区项目为通过建筑彰显复旦精神提 供了绝好的机遇。 新建筑内的所有公共集会空间均由屋面景观 系统覆盖。 现在，当学生们在校园中学习或集会的时 候，他们将会每天都沐浴在复旦“光华”之 下。
该项目具有标志性的元素，并显示不同以往 的独特造型。塔楼体量上的扭转与上海世博 会西班牙馆中立面藤条饰板视造成的觉上的 动感效果有异曲同工之妙。
魔幻岛为自然、人工与动漫博物馆完美结合 带来全新体验。 博物馆概念在这里得到重塑并使其成为全世 界该领域独一无二的范本。
我们设计了一个开放空间，作为当地人的跳 舞场地。通过迷宫式的路径引向阶梯，在那 里人们可以围绕中心区域起舞。中心区域 领舞，并为周边空间输入活力。在Ricard Viñes广场人行与车行分不同流线运动，步行 系统中包含公共空间。
画家张大千生于四川省内江市。他是20世纪 最著名的国画大师。 作为张大千的故乡，内江市通过弘扬张大千 的艺术推动自身的发展。 基地位于内江市东兴区东桐路圆顶山，西林 寺西侧，沱江南岸。
该园寻求中国山水画的意境。 人工构筑尽量模仿自然，以期显示出自然的 幻象。 花园选取自然材质，当游览者亲身接触石头 的质地时，会得到与大自然接触的感官享 受。 因此，自然材料成为唯一的选择。

As a living creature that reacts to external impulses, the new building of the company Gas Natural, develops and extends addressing the different conditions of the program and the complex environment. The aim is to reconcile several objectives: to create an urban landmark in the skyline of Barcelona, to set up a dialogue with the low-rise houses of the neighbourhood and to generate quality public spaces.
The society managing the development of the Port of Hamburg set up a competition to regenerate and urbanize the shores of the River Elbe in the town center. The proposal launched by the EMBT studio won with a project that stands out by its offer of a great diversity of spaces to allow Hamburg’s inhabitants and visitors to take advantage of the nearby waterway.
“Novello” International Ideas Competition for the Areas Along the Railway and on Bypass Road The objective of the project is to allow the growth of a new part of Cesena, organically transforming the current functions, and therefore allowing their optimum coexistence.
Miralles Tagliabue EMBT is bulding the spanish pavilion for the universal exhibition of Shanghai in 2010. The building, with an area of 8000 meters, is inspired on wicker baskets. Its façades will be covered by this material which is present both in spanish and chinese traditional arts & crafts.
Yeouido Park is part of a sequence of Parks from the Han River redevelopment. We understand all the riverbank surrounding Yeouido island as one continous park. The new Yeouido park and the existing Saetgang Ecological Park should be seen as one continous park surrounding the whole island.
This building is a peace of the University Campus of Vigo, arranged from the master plan done by this office. The building is a rectangle that bows on the back part to adapt itself to the form of the area, following the guidelines of the classroom building.
This is a social housing building with 48 apartments located in what it used to be the perifery of Figueres, and it is not anymore. Given the long shape of the site the block develops in plan like a long line that wraps its own private open space.
“Choosing the place for the building was the first step of the project. Since the beginning the library was surounded by gardens... in the midle of a parc, the Parc de les Esplanes. We were fascinated by the idea of a half buried building, lost between the trees...”

“Novello”铁路沿线国际概念竞赛。 项目的目的在于允许Cesena生长出新的部 分，有机地变换功能，并因此达到最适宜的 共存。

“Some buildings stand erect to contemplate the mountains, others kneel to the ground to restore a profile, but they all try to create public places from which we can turn our gaze upon this Galician landscape...” Dani Rosselló, Architect.
Now it is finished, I think that the park embodies all of the original ideas. What I like best about it, is this strong vibration. You come to this square and you see the pergolas, the fontains, the vegetation, the hanging vases, the movement of leaves on trees, the vibration of the shadows, which are the main thing that we wanted to achieve.
Lungo Mare was first conceived in 1997 during a conversation between Enric Miralles, Benedetta Tagliabue and Emili Farré Escofet. “We wanted Lungo Mare to be as inviting as the beach and as comfortable as a sand dune or the waves on the sea... we wanted a piece of the beach itself, but made in concrete”.
We should try to enter, beacause the way in which the exterior has been constructed is only a small part of the overall project. The interior with the movement of the apartments, should be filmed elaborately, I think it is a beautiful sequence of spaces. Perhaps we should ring the bell... and see if we find at home.
In order to join two houses, the general structure of one house was conserved, including the stairs. In this house the more domestic elements; the kitchen, the bedrooms, and the dining room exsist.

There are two ideas behind the new project... 1. To rediscover the value of the interior spaces of the neo-classic building, the Medieval room. 2. To return to the idea of a municipal building as a conglomerate of the diverse houses of the city. 3. To maintain the monumental quality of the facade and create a more open construction so as to facilitate the better relation of the municipal building and the new square at the back .
The existing trees on the site define the framework of the project. The building is situated between them and the volumetric quality of the trees is mixed with the transparent facade of the new school. Behind this facade is the waiting area for the pupils – almost like teaching under trees.

“ A place where it rains every morning- early-” “Imagine a building which stays on a topography which doesn’t exist..” Were we negating the land? There are few empty lands in the periphery such as the one we found here. Maybe the people living here: the emigrants and the old people, will substitute with their own bodies the land and topography, resembling Chagall’s paintings as they sustaini the building top of themselves.

We understood we wanted to build our new store the same way Camper shoes are built in Mallorca. We cut different shoe forms, with hills, without hills, tall, short, for men, for women… we put those flat profiles one next to the other… and that is how our the volume of our new Camper store appeared!
Miralles Tagliabue EMBT designs the scenography for Merce Cunningham’s newest dance show. The choreography, which is entitled “Nearly Ninety” premiered at the BAM festival in New York on the 90th birthday of its creator.
In the old town of Barcelona, just outside the gothic walls the building stands, which is nowadays in very poor condicions. The flat we are restoring is the main apartament of the house, with an independent entrance, and it’s own courtyard and back garden.
Where the old Unazuki Trail crosses the deep Kurobe River valley it is transformed into a suspended bridge that successively becomes a commerce bridge for heavy traffic. The foundations of the old bridge permit the construction of this litlle labyrinth in which the path turns in upon itself to offer a long walk suspended over the valley.
This project has developed as a commemorative exhibition space for the centenary of the city of Esch-Sur-Azlette in Luxemburg. The pavilion is located in the Centenary Park and lifted up from the earth.This allows visual connections between different points of the park, and at the same time offers small public spaces under the main volume of the building.
“The former Can Ricart factory will reopen again in 2010, after a refurbishment extremely respectful with the original building. This project, carried out by the EMBT architecture firm, aims at bringing out the original aspects of the building when it was first built, in the middle of the 19th Century...” Rosario Fontova El periódico, January 31st 2006
The House of the Music acts as an area of attention towards which the people flow “. We seek to create a public piazza that invites the Gandienses and the tourists to walking, emulating a theatre outdoors.
The objective of this project is to diminish the unwanted noise from the passing cars towards the houses located in Gran Via. A long row of acoustic screens prevents the noise of the fast traffic way (lower level) to reach the upper level (destined to slow traffic and pedestrians) and the buildings.

我们希望新店与马略卡岛的Camper鞋店的 设计风格一致。我们截取了不同鞋子的形 状，有HILL和无HILL，高跟和低跟，男鞋女 鞋…… 我们吧平面投影一个挨一个地拼起 来……这样就形成了新Camper鞋店的体量！
EMBT为Merce Cunningham设计的现代舞舞台 布景。 名为“近90”的舞蹈于纽约BAW节公演，恰逢 舞蹈编排艺术家90岁生日。
在巴塞罗那老城区，建筑耸立在哥特式墙壁 的旁边，如今该地区环境很差。 我们重建住宅的了寓所部分，包括独立的入 口以及前后庭院。
原先的Unazuki路径穿越Kurobe深谷，如今被 承载繁忙交通的吊桥取代。 旧桥的基础允许建造悬吊的步行系统，用以 穿越山谷。

音乐学校的设计关注于人们流动因素。 我们寻求创造一个公共广场，邀请甘迪亚市 民和游客散步其中，以模仿室外的剧场。
