jayden garnett account manager Jayden Garnett, a Barista, started at Benefitz in XL production around three years ago and has quickly progressed from production to sales – to become a key member of the account management team. Jayden’s a quick learner, loves to be creative, is great with people and our customers love him! Q: How long have you been working at Benefitz? Jayden: Coming up three years early in 2021. The time has flown! Q: What do you love about being part of the team and helping to market the wide range of services on offer? Jayden: The team at Benefitz work so well together and always help out when needed. I also enjoy learning something new every day which is what happens when we have so much to offer in terms of solutions. I am lucky to be learning from the best! Q: Do you have a favourite bit of Benefitz technology, machinery or capability that gets you excited? Jayden: Our new Zund cutter. Some of the things we can produce with this are incredible! From small to large custom made products, that can suit a lot of the needs of our customers. Q: Is there a memorable project that has made you proud? Jayden: For sure, working alongside Robert (Johnson) to help Sanitarium out with their All Blacks Rugby World Cup project. It was a big job involving many of the Benefitz team and got some great awareness for the AB’s. Q: What is your passion when you are not on Benefitz business? Jayden: I love my music. You’ll often find me mixing music on the weekends, if not doing that I’m a coffee addict (and ex-barista!) or fishing. Q: Ssshhh… share a secret ingredient that makes Benefitz special that customers should know about? Jayden: Our new home ‘BenefitzHQ’ on Parkway Drive is fully solar

After 17 years based on the corner of Constellation and Parkway Drive’s on Auckland’s North Shore, the company has recently shifted just 50 metres over the road to a purpose fitted out building at 5-11 Parkway Drive. It’s an impressive new facility that’s powered by solar energy, with the massive northwest roof of the building completely covered with solar panels.

Benefitz started out 33 years ago – pre-digital, pre-internet, early-Apple – and has been innovating in the digital design space ever since. We bought our first Mac in 1989. 30 years on we’ve done ‘the Mahi’ and been an incubator for loads of creatives who have gone on with their careers. The Benefitz design team remains a cornerstone of our success. The ability to lead the creative process – as well as manufacture – is a real advantage for our business. Providing all the options in the print space is a key part of the Benefitz formula. Including…Small format images, big images, volume, medium and short run quantities and all on a huge selection of different papers and substrates. Our Benefitz Xerox Digital Printing Presses are serious machines in the Small Format/Short to Medium run space. We’ve been partnering with FujiXerox in New Zealand for 25 years. Our IGEN5 Press has a sheet size of up to 660mm by 364mm and prints on a range of paper stocks up to 350gsm. It’s a powerful small format digital press that’s worth its weight in gold. The newest of our Xerox presses is the Iridesse, installed recently. It has a 6-colour print engine, with the ability to print metallics, white and clear inks (as well as CMYK) on up to 400gsm stocks. Our Iridesse is used mainly as an SRA3 machine but can also print a banner size up to 1200mm long.

difference Benefitz JetSX B2 Digital Press is one of our big points of difference. This ‘inkjet press’ fits nicely between our short-run Xerox digital presses and our volume offset presses. The inkjet process offers inks that are more robust and compatible to print finishing processes than traditional digital print methods. Our JetSX prints digitally – so can economically print small quantities – to B2 size (740mm by 530mm) on paper stocks that are up .6mm thickness (robust card).

Komori Offset Presses Our two Komori Volume Offset Presses are the workhorses in our Benefitz HQ print factory. They each print to at least B2 size, five colours, and can print up to 15,000 and 13,000 sheets per hour respectively. Both machines were purchased brand new and we have come to love them for their capacity and overall reliability.
Heidelberg GTO52 Our Heidelberg GTO52 2-Colour Press completes our offset print machinery. Its knocks over volume stationery, business forms and other projects that require ‘special’ colours cost-effectively and in no time. This SRA3 sized press can also number and perforate.

For items printed on our offset and digital printing machinery we can fold, guillotine, collate, crease, diecut, punch, stitch (staple), PUR bind, hard case bind, laminate, UV coat. For items we print in our XL printing area we can trim, cut to shape, pvc weld, sew, score, crease, punch, eyelet, stretch on frames – virtually anything.

AT BENEFITZ WE HAVE THE COMPLETE SOLUTION FOR ALL YOUR EXHIBITION AND EVENT DISPLAY We import or manufacture the hardware and then print and finish the easy-to-assemble and transport displays. A key ingredient for most events is having a Backdrop that can be used to provide high impact branding for Event Sponsors. As stage backdrops, photographic backdrops or a prominent wall for sponsor acknowledgements. We have units that can be rented for events, or purchased for ongoing use. Our standard Event & Media Backdrops are 2.4 metres by 2.4 metres in size. The branding is very simply created by printing two 2.4 metres by 1.2 metres rigid sheets on our state-of-the-art direct to substrate high resolution flatbed printing machinery. We will deliver and pick up from event venues in Auckland. This is a very cost effective solution that can also be duplicated to add additional width (i.e. 4.8 metres wide). We also publish our own free monthly magazine for our local North Shore (of Auckland) community, called Channel. We create the content, sell advertising and commercial opportunities, design and then produce the magazine every month. Channel Magazine is consistently 120 to 140 A4 pages in size. The print run is in excess of 25,000 copies per month.

Over the past two decades Benefitz has developed a reputation for printing New Zealand’s biggest images. Our XL Printing operation is a real strength of our business. Our machinery includes our 5 metres wide Uvistar Pro8 eight-colour printing machine. This beast prints to five metres wide and virtually any length. Another beast is our 3.2 metres wide Vutek EFI LED Flatbed printing machine. Prints up to 3.2 metres wide on just about any substrate – with its specialty being able to print on rigid materials – eco-flute, flute, signboard, board, card, plastic, wood, iron to name just a few. While not quite as powerful, our back-up Mimaki Flatbed also prints fantastic quality on all types of substrates as well. We also have two Mutoh Fabric Printers that print up to 2.6 metres wide, enabling us to produce Flags and Fabric display items such as tensioned event walls. We have a number of 1.6 metre wide printers, including Mutoh’s, Mimaki’s and HP Latex machines that are real workhorses, pumping out large high quality images galore! A key ingredient in our XL printing area is our new Zund G3 automated cutter. This state-of-the-art machine enables us to finish items like never before – and be creative with shapes!

Benefitz Director Robert Johnson leads the Fusion Yearbook project. When it comes to producing yearbooks, the team at Benefitz provide the total solution. Providing schools and organisations with the flexibility of creating their own book online or designing the book for them. Then producing on our state-of-the-art printing and finishing technology. Our Benefitz online Fusion Yearbook System is used in many countries around the world by the education sector to build their yearbooks online. This is a very user friendly and cost effective platform that negates the need for schools to have specific design software and results in a print-ready file we can print from. It also enables multi-users at each school and for the book to be built over time. With a team of 15 designers and creative people we also offer schools the option of Benefitz doing the entire project – designing and printing the yearbook from digital copy and images being supplied. Golf is another part of our DNA. We have been printing scorecards for golf clubs throughout New Zealand for over 30 years. We reckon we’ve printed over 80 million scorecards in that time.

The ethos has always been to also give back. 33 years on the business has built a very strong reputation for its involvement in the community.
