Annie JR

- Kristin Junior School Production

Optimism was a driving force in getting so many of us through the very challenging events of 2020, and no character has ever been more optimistic than the little orphan Annie. Never giving up hope, and always being able to find the good in any situation, the character of Annie gave our Kristin Community great inspiration to keep the fires of Kristin Performing Arts burning in 2020.

In a year where theatre suffered all over the globe, we were extremely grateful and proud that at Kristin, Annie Jr was able to enchant and delight over 1,000 audience members across two performances in late November 2020. Our young cast worked tirelessly to perfect their harmonies, choreography and characterisations – bringing to life a range of quirky and colourful characters from New York, 1933. More than ever, their resilience shone through at every moment of the process (many cast members performed their final callback audition via Zoom) and the positivity that radiated from the stage was infectious. Kristin’s Junior School Productions are a special way to celebrate the arts, with all Junior School students proudly taking their place as part of the ensemble. To bring a cast of 526 young performers to the stage is no small feat and is only possible thanks to some very generous parent and community volunteers, and an exceptional Kristin Production team. Thank you to this dedicated team, for working magic to create another exceptional flagship production event at Kristin. This timeless classic was the perfect way to round off 2020, promising us all that, no matter how grey the day may be, “the sun will come out tomorrow”.
