FHM Youth

Players Recognised Three of our youth players were recognised by inclusion in the northern based New Zealand U17 training squad. James Green, Matthew Wood and Matt Conroy were all part of the wider training squad in preparation for the upcoming U17 World Cup qualifiers in 2017. The squad has recently been trimmed with striker Matt Conroy still being part of the squad at this point, with the others still pushing hard to regain their places. Both Matt’s have been with the club since they were 5 years old (Matt Conroy’s 1st game was on his 5th birthday), with defender Matthew Wood currently plying his trade for the Reserves. Midfielder James Green (joined in 13th grade) and Matt Conroy are both part of the U17 Metro team who currently sit 5th but whose team are league top scorers with an average of 3 goals per game.

The Team List ....

Those who attended the 9th Grade Forrest Hill tournament in July will have seen all three down at Becroft, with Matthew Wood encouraging some members of the 9th Grade team he coaches and James and Matt giving up their time to referee – and doing a great job.

Men’s Premiers

From the eyes of a supporter As a supporter I’m always going to be a little biased but I think things are travelling really well at the Club. We are in the top league of the Men’s NRFL and the Women’s NRFL. I tend to watch the men3. more than the women as it’s Nick Smith played on a Saturday. I did, however, watch the women play on Jonathan Sunday in the curtain raiser to the4.Chatham Cup.Lewis They surprised me with how well they play. They5.play an Luiten entertaining brand of Alex football in a really skilful way. They are really worth a watch.

6. Olly Ceci

The Men, who I watch as often as I can, have developed through 7. Harry Lissington the season. At the start things were a bit hairy to be honest. We dropped a lot of games early on 8. and looked like we might drop Cory Hitchen back down having fought so hard to get back up.

players who are getting a crack. I don’t know these young boys that well but I’m told that they have come through the Club’s ranks. That’s great. It says the coaching throughout the Club must be strong. We’re going to need a few of those boys today as that Ref last Sunday was throwing out cards like the guy at the airport who waves in the planes. It was a shame we got knocked out of the Cup but that’s football. At least now we’ve got a clear focus on the league. I hear our Women are still in their Cup so maybe it’s their turn. I chucked a few dollars into their fundraising last Sunday so I’m looking forward to a return on that investment.

9. Chris Bryson

However, when the guys who played in the Summer League 10.We’re Marcel Nolde arrived things certainly picked up. not out of the woods yet but we are now playing good football so I reckon we’ll be 11. Jaryd Gray OK.

12. Andrew Cowell

The new players that have arrived seem to have lifted the team 13. Ed Sillars and given it some real firepower. Ryan De Vries is a superb player who has given the team a14. real Alan touch Llunes of class. And Abdulla, man that boy can run! I heard a whisper that the All Luke Whites coach has been keeping15. an eye onJohnson him. Can’t say I’ve seen Anthony Hudson down at Becroft Park but maybe he was 17. Reid Drake hiding in his car?

19. Ashley Ngadela

I also hear Abdulla’s younger brother is also pretty handy. And 23.He’s Jack-Henry Sinclair what about that Adam Dickinson? as tough as teak. You can see the fear in the opposition defenders 26. Jamie eyes. Shields

The Club has the best coaching depth across any Club in Auckland. Over the last 10 years the Club has introduced a number of professional coaches. These coaches are carefully vetted and recruited to ensure they fit with the Club’s values and they can deliver on our strategic goals. All of our paid coaches must be qualified with some holding some of the highest qualifications of any coach in New Zealand.

The Team List ....

We have a strong desire to develop female coaches and not just to coach our very strong girls’ and women’s teams. We see no reason why one day our Men’s 1st team couldn’t have a female coach.

this year is Coach for our U9 girls. Emily’s ambition to go as far as she can with her coaching has seen her dedicate herself to obtaining her coaching qualifications. She currently holds a Junior Level 1 Coaching Certificate and is half way through the Junior Level 2 Coaching Certificate. With the Club about to start delivering Skill Centre Open programmes Emily has accepted our approach to be a coach in the Programme. It is a NZF requirement that all coaches in the Programme have attained the Junior Level 3 Certification. Emily will be attending a course in September to attain this qualification.
