y r a i D r u o y e How to us

We think you’ll have fun using this Diary because you can write in it, draw pictures of you or your family and friends, store stickers and photos and little notes...but the Diary also asks you to write down some important stuff too: Don’t

forget t o colour wonderf all the ul illustr ations s by the cl uppplied ever art ist of T GREAT HE NZ CO LOURIN G BOOK

- Questions you want to ask - Things you want to talk about - Names of the people looking after you - How you feel

Some famous people throughout history have told us how they feel and you’ll find signposts in the Diary with some of the things they’ve said. Watch for the signposts along the way. How many of those people do you know? Their words will guide us, make us think about things and cheer us up too.

How to remember the person who died

Make a memory box Step 1: Find a box with a lid - any type will do, big

enough for everything you want to keep inside.

Step 2: Decorate your box however you like -

draw on it, stick photos or things on the outside, do whatever you like! Memories are the best things in life, I think. - Romy Schneider

Step 3: Once decorated, put things inside that

remind you of the person who died. These could be photos, postcards, shells, feathers, jewellery anything that will fit inside! Make sure each item has a story or memory attached to it.

Bag of memories: memory stones

(remembering the good times and accepting the tough times) You will need: a little drawstring bag or box, 3 stones, a rough stone, a smooth stone (these two stones can usually be found in gardens or parks) & a gem stone (can be found in craft or gift shops). Each stone represents a different kind of memory. The rough stone is there to represent the difficult times, the smooth stone represents the everyday times spent with the person who died & the gem stone is to represent the special or precious times. You can use the stones on your own to think about the different types of memories you have or you can hold each of the stones and talk to someone about what each stone represents. When you are having a rough way using your stones can be a useful way to start a conversation with someone you trust.
