Senior Womens Premiers Recently our team played in a quarter final match against Three Kings United, a team that hadn’t lost a game all season. Forrest Hill ended up winning 3-2 meaning we qualified to go through to the semi-final of the ASB National Women’s Knockout Cup. However, for the semi-final we play Cashmere Technical away and this team is based in Christchurch. Our goal is to raise $6000 - this money will help pay for 16 squad members, club physio, team manager, coaching staff and equipment down to Christchurch. This is a fantastic opportunity for FHM to play in the national competition - so every donation, big or small will be highly appreciated!

13th Grade FHM Barcelona

Through the Players Eyes My name is Sam Nolan and I play centre midfield for Forrest Hill Barcelona 13th Metro. “Forrest Hill Barcelona has been together for 6 1/2 years, as a team we have got better and better over this time. Most of our players have been here since day one and are coached by Luca since 9th grade. This year we moved to Auckland wide football - Metro league. In grading we started the season with a few very good wins and a hard fought draw against Onehunga. Over the grading rounds the best performance came against Eastern Suburbs with a strong 6-2 victory. Other results in the grading rounds were 4-0 over Central United, 7-0 over Waitakere City, 8-0 over Dury, 2-0 over North Shore, 5-0 over Fencibles and very one sided victories against Birkenhead and Greenhithe. We finished equal top with Onehunga and made it through to the metro league as one of the hot favourites.

The Team List ....

We had a disappointing start to the Metro round after grading with a bad loss to Onehunga plus a very slow start against Dury but we pulled through to win 3-1. Up next was Eastern Suburbs where we redeemed ourselves with a well fought out battle winning 2-1 against a strong favourite for the championship. We followed up the following week with completely dominating performance over East Coast Bays and the Andy Boyens 3. Nick Smith out come was never in question, win 3-1. Tournaments are Key in Club Development

Head Coach: Paul Temple Assistant Coaches: Tournaments are a key part of the Club’s development programmes. As a Club we host a number of Tournaments Owain Prosser ourselves as well as attending events hosted by other Clubs. Steven Dillon We strongly believe in creating pathways for our players and GK Coach: attendance at Tournaments helps to deliver on this. They Konya create opportunities for playersRobert to be put under pressure of playing a number of games across a day or several days. It Physio: also exposes them at a relatively young age to knockout Ed Sillars football. Sports Scientist: On the Sunday 14th August we are hosting our 10th Grade Boys Tournament. It’s a very popular Tournament being sold Tim Wilson out very quickly with 24 teams attending. Due to its popularity and the extent of waiting list we are looking at accommodating up to another 4 - 6 teams.

Our 11th Grade Boys Tournament on Sunday 4 September has also sold out with 24 teams. These Tournaments take a lot to organise. The Club owes a huge debt of gratitude to Paul Conroy who has organised our Tournaments for more years than most can remember.

As a Club we also support a number of Tournaments hosted by other Clubs. On the 24th-27th September our 9th grade boys are going to TKU Nationals at Keith Hay Park. The 13th grade boys are at the Western Springs Invitational Tournament at Seddon Fields also from 24th - 27th September. From Friday 30th September through till Sunday 2nd October our 10th grade boys and girls will be at the NorWest nationals. The Club also attends the National Men’s U19 Tournament every year in Napier. All of these Tournaments are a carefully planned pathway as our players develop from boys and girls into men and women. Today we host the ultimate knockout men’s competition in NZ football, the Chatham Cup. Lessons learnt as young players in their Tournaments are lessons we will see play out on the park today.
