Dave produced a series of illustrations for the US open, commissioned by Adidas for their @AdidasTennis social media platforms – featuring their brand ambassadors. It’s interesting to know that big sports brands like Adidas will pay for illustrations just to make their social media more visually engaging
CHAMPIONS DRAW – BT SPORT BT has been running the ‘Champions Draw’ for two years now. The first year their were 6 illustrators and this year 12 illustrators were selected to take part in the knockout competition running along side the Champions League. Each illustrator creates a poster for a match at each stage of the champions league. The Illustrators with the most likes/retweets on BTs social media progresses to the next stage of the competition.
This project commissioned by Manchester City FC is a really good example of how illustrations are applied, whether it’s a huge billboard or online.
MATCH DAY PROMGRAMMES Match day programmes are something I could see my illustrations being applied to in the future, it could be a good avenue to explore for this 505 project. I think an illustrated cover makes the programme more special and collectable. Dave Merrell has been commissioned to produce these two programmes for Bournemouth vs Liverpool for the League cup quarter final and England vs France at Wembley.
