Sketchbook Development

Trying to be looser more flowing, less literal.

Trying to get more fluidity into the drawing by following lines through the figure. - Depicting the movement as a shape and accentuating limbs.

Starting figurative and thinking about what information is important/ coveys movement.

I like the idea of having a single line through the figure – I think this adds fluidity and dynamism.

Now applying the same approach to different sports. I think these are working better than my earlier sketchbook work, there's definitely more movement.

I went back to the first sport I tried to make into a pictogram, which was judo, and applied the more fluid, abstraction approach. Using lines that flow through the figures I think I’m starting to get somewhere. They might be a bit overcomplicated for pictograms, but I’m now thinking I’ll apply them to Olympic themed posters. That way I have more freedom to be illustrative and expressive.
