SUMMER SKETCHBOOKS MEGA CRIT
It was great looking through everyone's summer sketchbooks, and see all the varied work. This image is from one of my favourite sketchbooks that I looked at. I think the composition of line and shape based elements give this image a balanced feel. I like the colour palette I think the splash of orange adds to the bold and weird imagery.
I think the colour palette works really well in this work, It seems really nicely thought out with the negative space really adding to the composition and balance of the image. It looks professional and could make a lovely print.
This work seems playful I like how they’ve experimented with media and the different effects that can be achieved. The work feels peaceful and reminded me of the ocean or a coral reef
The use of media is really effective in this work, filling the shapes with a water colour texture is a nice idea. I like the simplicity of the image - the composition of shape and the size of the whales creates a good balance.
I chose this page of sketches because I think the line quality is especially effective. I like how the character of the dog comes through in just a quick sketch.
This work stood out because it was so bold and characterful. I like the personality and humour that comes through in the work. They had made masks, which was nice to see they had thought about how the work could translate into product.
I thought the choice of framing for this sketch was really interesting. The viewpoint makes for a more dynamic image.
