Leading law firm is changing business for good

Leading full-service law firm Shakespeare Martineau, which has 11 office hubs across the UK including Stratford-Upon-Avon, is changing the world of business for good.

Committed to unlocking potential for its clients, people, communities and the planet, the firm achieved B-Corporation status earlier this year as a result of its responsible business initiatives.

Making more than 30 pledges, the firm has committed to increasing diversity at a senior level, reducing its carbon footprint and offering career development opportunities to underrepresented groups.

The firm was also listed in Best Companies 2022, including as a top 75 West Midlands business to work for.

Locally, Shakespeare Martineau is supporting a host of charities and causes including its hub-nominated charity the Shakespeare Hospice, the Shakespeare Marathons, the Warwick Folk Festival’s “Breaking Walls, Building Communities” concert featuring homeless artists and the GlastonBeoley charity festival, raising money through regular bake sales, family events and challenges such as the Shakespeare Hospice dragon boat race and fun runs.

Andrew Smith, head of the firm’s Stratford and Solihull hubs, said:

“As a certified B Corporation, we’re committed to using business as a force for good for our people, clients, planet and communities. It’s important for us to support local causes that make real differences to the lives of others.

“We also strongly believe that you can be both purposeful and profitable and this is led by our incredible team of trusted advisors, who provide the best service to our clients.”

With a full-service offering and access to more than 1,200 experts up and down the country, Shakespeare Martineau has had a significant year of growth, including expanding into new locations in the South West, East Midlands and Scotland, as well as reporting a 16 per cent revenue increase and achieving multiple awardwins, including being named employer of the year at the Stratford Herald Business and Tourism Awards last year.

Andrew continued: “We have a local service offering and knowledge, backed by the strength of a national firm with wide-ranging expertise. We take a holistic approach to our clients’ problems, ambitions and needs, helping them unlock their potential by acting as an extension of their team.”

Shakespeare Martineau is a top tier law firm in Legal 500 and Chambers, with more than 40 legal experts recognised in the hall of fame, as rising stars, next generation partners or leading individuals.

Working with organisations of all sizes and sectors including SMEs, government, charity and the public sector, the firm delivers a broad range of specialist legal services and has expertise across multiple areas including but not limited to: family business, agriculture, real estate, social housing, later living, healthcare, energy, education, banking, finance and investment funds.
