Baldock Industrial Estate fire

Herts Chamber was invited to attend a meeting held by Hertfordshire County Council, North Herts Council and the Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership on Thursday 13th July in relation to the fire which severely affected the many businesses located on the Baldock Industrial Estate.

The fire, which started on Tuesday 11th July just after 6pm, was declared a major incident by the emergency services after it severely damaged/ destroyed more than 40 business units, many of which were razed to the ground due to the severity of the fire.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the impacted businesses and was organised to offer support to all those affected. There were more questions than answers at the meeting, however, as the Fire Brigade was still in attendance at the scene as there were still pockets of fire being managed.

It was clear to see that the Baldock business owners involved in this tragedy are a tight-knit business community and their passion and support for each other was extremely evident. The local authorities, emergency services and other local organisations all quickly rallied together to understand how they could best support and assist the affected businesses and keep them informed of the changing situation.

The Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce is here to support any of the business owners affected by this tragic incident and our contact details have been published to all should anyone wish to contact us.
