Profile I am an insatiably curious person with a strong visual awareness and a well developed sense for details. I strongly believe, whatever design we build end up building us. Therefore, I intend to dedicate my creative energy to excellence in the field of Architecture. I think there is a profound and enduring beauty in simplicity, in clarity and efficiency. For me, true simplicity is derived § bringing order to complexity. from so much more than just the absence of clutter, it s about My design philosophy embeds all of these qualities and give me a sence of care: how much do I care to make something right and how much do I strive to be fulfilled with what I create, albeit i’m gonna see it or not. My university degree in Architecture and Urban Planning helped me develop a combination of skills in problem solving, critical thinking and a holstic design approach among many more. Along with the experience of being a misfit in my formative career, what makes my design approach unique is how profoundly simple it is and how easy can be used. I work on projects for joy.

The context of a globalized culture, new mentalities and their new technologies have profoundly changed the paradigms of higher education in Cluj Napoca. Thus, a new conception of the media library was required by this new reality and the urban dynamics of the city. The site is part of this panorama which is the area of the Railway Park and is a central urban area as an intersection of new streets and a geographical area equidistant from the access and exit points of the city. The urban fabric is still the biggest feature, characterized by the variety of use, diversity of occupation and urban reservation in the green area and the history recorded in the area.

THE ICON

BL

Enriched by the enviroment, the building occupies di erent typologies along some houses and apartment buildings, mixing with the local urban fabric. In this sense, the building facilities are more like a piece of urban architecture than the uni cation of the architectural ensemble.

The design responds to the context and re ects the ambitions of the architectural culture of the city. The rst two oors showcase elements from inside and display the content and activities of the building on the street. Above, a sculptural space respond to the context by pointing the imaginal direction towards the new tall nearby buildings and emphasizing the perspective by forming an iconic proportion and re ects the quality of the architecture.

OLAF PHILHARMONIC The architecture seeks to embody its contents and not underplay its signi cance, while still pursuing equilibrium for the urban ensemble. Depending on the time, weather and viewing angle, the building may reveal a little of the goings on within. The glass facade bridge between outside and inside revealing various uses, functions and expressions. § It can have a robust, industrial character, or a sense of preciousness and aspiration: a music hall, or a light cathedral. The building absorbs the changing sky and ambient light, and then re ects light and colour back. As dusk sets in, the concert hall becomes a lantern on the , a glowing cathedral of music in the city. A key design intention was that regardless of the time of day, the building always appears welcoming and does not have a rear side.

BL HOLISTIC SOUND

The interior architecture adpots wood panelling with the undulating waves for a better sound dispersion. The oval shape of the auditorium helps the sitting layout: There is no more than 25 meters from the center of the stage to the seats in the back, thus creating a holistic sound experience.

THE NUCLEUS OF CONTEMPORARY ART

Starting from the belief of Eero Saarinen: “The purpose of architecture is to shelter and enhance man's life on earth and to ful ll his belief in the nobility of his existence.”, my proposal to extend the current state of the “Tzedek Poala” Synagogue into a Contemporary Art Creation Center in Cluj-Napoca. The integration of the project is conceived as a complementary section, derived from a series of objects placed in a synergistic relationship with the elements of the natural framework, a seemingly independent element that completes the whole heterogeneity The project aspires to mediate between each and every factor that connect the historical central area, including a new architecture that is capable of providing contextual continuity and formal autonomy, openness to the public and introduction of a contemplation toward the much respected heritage. § Such creativity is stimulated and encouraged by both the details of the physical environment and the nature of its atmosphere. As a critical aspect of design, current architectural elements, distinct from the existing skeleton of the inside of the synagogue, are used to de ne di erent spaces and functions. These elements incorporate the necessary storage, a new functional access appliance, while providing a framework for an integrated approach to lighting, acoustics and esthetics, compensating and simplifying the eld of vision.

THE NUCLEUS

The new building will be carefully inserted into the fabric of the existing buildings by gradually withdrawing the ground oor from the street line that functions as a funnel to attract the audience inside the area. The relationship with adjacent buildings is generated by maintaining the height of the roof and creating public gardens as a connection element with the neighborhoods. The property limits of the East side present several blind walls. In the Western limits of the site, besides the existing calcanes, in the immediate vicinity, is the building of BRD bank, a determining condition for the proposal that suggests the inauguration of a contemporary-art hotspot.

The proportions of the new building will not imitate any of the historical conditions, merely create a new relationship with the context of its domain. In conclusion, the cultural project § expresses a sensible approach through setting new benchmarks, using innovation, the art of subtlety, ambition of contemporary design, and the value of civic life.

HARMONIE CULTURAL CENTRE

As a continuity of the cultural architecture, the proposed volumes result from the attachment to the existing South and West blind wall's of the plot, creating a simple but powerful ensemble in the heart of Cluj-Napoca. From the preservation and implementation of the initial facades of the Synagogue, through the development of a covered structure which, § through its dimensions and limits, ensures the initial proportions of the synagogue. The metal structure suspended on pillars, develops two inner courtyards that serve as an extension of the inner public spaces and helps to open the building to the city. When it comes to framing the site, we can say that the building ts quite well, standing out through its contemporary materiality and form, while giving importance to the synagogue.
