The role of the Alumni body is still crucial for carrying out administrative duties and gathering graduate input. Therefore, it is essential to create a suitable and well-known structure that will meet the needs of a university like JABU so that graduates may easily connect with their alma mater and a network link for the school to get a larger reach. This has made it necessary to build a planned alumni Centre for Joseph Ayo Babalola University.

As form without function is just a nice piece of paper, function needs form to achieve its aim. According to the theory of form, a building’s shape corresponds to its intended use as well as its purpose. Function describes the purpose of the structure. The goal of every (my) design is to capture the form’s essence while simultaneously optimising its functionality.

THESIS TOPIC:SPATIAL COORDINATION THROUGH EFFECTIVE CIRCULATION PLANNING By integrating the concept of relational spatial circulation and coordination into the design of an alumni center, architecture becomes a conscious expression, highlighting the significance of empty space. In challenging Bergson’s theory, Piaget asserts that intelligence resides not only in mental states but also in the evolution of mental imagery (Piaget, 1972). The continuous journey individuals experience in space links various stages of perception. Yet, acknowledging the past is crucial, preserving the legacy of former students, their academic achievements, and the interconnections among students and professors. This reverence allows us to progress both individually and as a community. Sustainable design becomes a conduit for functionality, aesthetics, and economics, employing local technologies, materials, and processes. Sustainability, in this context, signifies endurance and longevity, honoring our existing resources while paving the way for a more ideal society in the future.

e.thomas 2023

This is a project that I started during my fourth year of university to strengthen my skills. It was completed during my gap year placement.

02 E. Thomas, a bespoke boutique and tailor shop, embodies modern elegance with a personal touch. The design idea revolves around striking a balance between modern aesthetics and subtle details, instead of minimalism in favor of individuality. The facade takes center stage, with carefully placed windows and artistically constructed wall panels enhancing it. The careful use of recesses provides depth, inviting clients into a location where craftsmanship meets contemporary elegance.

The E. Thomas floor plan conveys a roomy and pleasant atmosphere. The reception is nicely located on a shared wall at the entrance, and it flows effortlessly into the showroom, which has a curtain wall on the front elevation. The boutique and changing room are located on the ground floor, which replicates the arrangement on half of the first floor. A welcoming door leads to the area set aside for design and tailoring, which is where the artistry is realized. Additionally, there’s a tiny showroom here that creatively displays the costumes of the week. The welcome area, showroom, and the hub for design and tailoring are all designed to be open and fluid. »

As a result of spending more time there, the “house” continues to be the most important architectural location we encounter throughout our lifetimes. This 2 Bedroom semi-detached layout encourages social contact, althogh the square meter is smalle which result to smaller gathering space , the dining and living area reamins the main point for social interaction is centralized properly to accomodate both visitors and home owners. The design considerations consist of (but are not limited to) •Access to clean air and lighting (casement windows were used, which always give 100% air)

Bathed in natural light from the skylight above, this design embraces a serene ambiance, seamlessly blending traditional warmth with modern comfort. The beige, brown, and nude color palette is gently illuminated, creating a tranquil haven for relaxation. As clients recline on the massage table, the soft glow accentuates the interplay of textures and the subtle elegance of the space, providing a sensory journey that rejuvenates both body and spirit. The spa’s design is a harmonious marriage of timeless tradition and contemporary comfort, inviting guests to unwind beneath the soothing touch of nature’s embrace.

Macmaster Virtual Internship AIM FOR WOW

05

Throughout my year-long virtual placement at MacMaster Design, I explored the theoretical underpinnings of creating elegantly curved wooden furniture. Conceptualization, accurate technical drawings, and a theoretical investigation of woodworking methods like steam bending were all stressed during the event. I concentrated on thorough prototyping in a virtual setting, guaranteeing a theoretical mastery of material selection, joinery techniques, and finishing procedures, even though the virtual format hampered hands-on experience. This experience improved my theoretical ability to convert design ideas into detailed plans, which will help me when I put these talents to use in the real world in the future.

The lights in this design represent the rain, and they are connected to the wood (the cloud) via a cable that, in essence, depicts the movement of rain from beginning to end. This structure is made of wood.

AIM FOR WOW The table is made of two different materials. The table’s surface is comprised of glass and wood, which provides balance and functionality without detracting significantly from the hand and curve that serve as its main focal point

The plant which holds the bulb is carved with wood. The bulb is placed at the Centre with its wires passing through the stem of the carved plant. The cuboid is made with wood and reflective glass

This design draws inspiration from the biblical story of Jesus’s ascension, reflected in the altar’s sculpted depiction of his tomb and ascent. The altar features ascending lights symbolizing prayers rising to heaven. Connected to a centralised large light, it becomes the church’s main source, signifying God’s grace descending upon the congregation. Each space is purposefully curated, such as the choir area adorned with musical notes, creating a spiritually immersive journey from entrance to exit. The altar becomes a focal point where members pray, their prayers ascending to heaven, and God’s grace, symbolised by the central light, blessing the congregation.

I drew inspiration from the biblical narrative of Jesus’s ascension to create a spiritually immersive church interior. The altar, a focal point of reverence, features meticulous sculpts portraying his tomb and the transformative moment of ascension. Illuminated by lights ascending to the ceiling, the altar is connected to a grand light fixture, the primary source of illumination. Each space, from enteance to exit, is carefully curated **Key Elements:** 1. **Altar Design:** - Crafted from stone & wood, the altar sculpts capture the essence of the biblical story. 2. **Lighting:** - Ascending lights on the altar symbolize the spiritual journey, creating an uplifting atmosphere. 3. **Choir Space:** - Musical notes in the choir space promote a dynamic auditory and visual experience. 4. **Symbolism:** - Subtle biblical symbols like crosses and doves are integrated, reinforcing the spiritual narrative. 5. **Spatial Flow:** - A seamless transition from entrance to exit guides the congregation on a spiritual journey. 7. **Furniture and Seating:** - Comfortable, well-designed seating with movable elements enhances flexibility.

07 SKILLS “Serenity Chic: Chic A Symphony of Timeless Elegance”

Harmonizing Heritage and Modernity: This fashion collection tells a lively story, fusing rich Ankara tradition with contemporary flair.” A pink peplum two-piece exudes elegance, while a dazzling yellow gown pays homage to the ‘90s. A charming flared skirt suit adds a touch of refinement, and the collection concludes with a whimsical butterfly-winged dress, signifying the collection’s metamorphic blending of cultural roots and eternal trends.

“In between drafting floor plans and designing spaces, you’ll find me sketching and painting. It’s not just about buildings; it’s about the moments of inspiration that hit when the pen meets paper. This portfolio isn’t just blueprints; it’s a splash of creativity and a peek into the architect behind the designs.”
