A PATHWAY TO THRIVING
Genetic engineering. GMOs. Proteomics. Students in the Upper School’ s biotechnology program study all this and more - from Multiregional Theory to the transformation of infectious diseases.
Through hands-on lab techniques like micropipetting, DNA extraction, and gel electrophoresis, students gain real-world lab experience.

A PATHWAY TO INQUIRY
You have a voice. How will you use it?
Our Multimedia Journalism curriculum helps students find their voice and use it as a finely tuned instrument for change.
Expository Writing gives students the opportunity to pursue newspaper writing, editing, and layout; the course focuses primarily on the production of The Pharcyde, the Upper School’s gold medal award-winning newspaper.
Students in TV and Film production use our state-of-the-art, high definition digital broadcast studio and postproduction facility to experience every aspect of live programming and postproduction including planning, writing, shooting, interviewing, editing, reporting, field work, and live show execution. Our BTV N3WS broadcast has received multiple All-Florida awards, recognizing it as the best program in the state.
A PATHWAY TO INVENTION
Invention and innovation are cornerstones of our engineering program. Whether tinkering at MakerSpaces, coding robots, or competing in VEX Robotics Competitions, Benjamin students enjoy invaluable hands-on engineering experiences.
The Engineering Certificate program provides a unique opportunity for students to develop an expertise in this area of STEM. Participating students undertake four engineeringrelated courses, complete six semesters of extracurricular involvement, and perform a capstone engineering project their senior year.

A PATHWAY TO EXPRESSION
Watch your vision come to life through clay, paint, film, and more as you explore the multifaceted offerings of our Visual Arts curriculum. Students can explore a variety of artistic mediums including ceramics, graphic design, photography, sculpture, studio art painting, studio art drawing, and more.
Starting with Foundations In Art, students are introduced to the elements and principles of design. Artists will explore modes of production including drawing, painting, mixed media, assemblage, and printmaking. From the fundamental building blocks of design to solving artistic problems independently with insight, reason, and technical proficiency, there are course offerings in the visual arts pathway that appeal to every student.

A PATHWAY TO HEALTH
At Benjamin, live robotics surgery, an inside look at local hospitals, shadowing local surgeons, EKGs, and phlebotomy are not internship opportunities, but part of the curriculum.
MEDICINE MEDICINE
Students following a pathway to medicine can become certified in Basic Life Support and earn a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant certificate, all during class hours. This professional certification allows them to work in a medical field where they can apply their skills in real scenarios.
Closely integrated with our health science curriculum, HOSA (Future Health Professionals) provides training far beyond the technical skills needed for entry into the medical field. Students gain leadership experience and learn how to be members of a health care team.
A PATHWAY TO CREATIVITY
Artistic expression thrives at The Benjamin School. Whether your passion leads you to center stage at Benjamin Hall, our 850-seat theatre, or to the dark room in our art studio, opportunities abound on campus for students with varying interests.
PERFORMING PERFORMING ARTS ARTS
Our Upper School pathways allow for the intersection of these interests, rather than funneling students into a specific arts "track." Students can try their hand at everything from concert band and modern dance to music theory and acting, without having to choose an area of specialization.
In our signature "One Act Plays" course, students unleash their imaginations and elevate their confidence as they write, produce, direct, and perform their own original work.
A PATHWAY TO EXPERIENCE
Learning continues for Benjamin students outside the four walls of the classroom. Whether it’ s traveling to a local dairy farm for lessons in agriculture and sustainability, or crossing the pond to partake in an International Film Festival in Scotland, students experience a varied range of learning opportunities.
Through clubs like Yale Model United Nations and Harvard Model Congress, and yearly study abroad offerings, students’ global perspectives broaden along a boundless horizon. Upper School students also complete a 40-hour internship as a requirement for graduation. Students have interned at local news stations, performing arts centers, hospitals and research institutes, to name a few. This exciting opportunity not only provides hands-on, real world experience, but often evolves into future employment opportunities for Benjamin alumni.

CCHOOSE HOOSE PPATH ATH
At The Benjamin School, we offer a wide variety of classes and activities so students can choose the path that best meets their abilities and
interests. However, students are not forced to follow one track in their academic journey. Our curriculum is designed so that students can experience an exciting array of opportunities and pursue them to the breadth and depth of their choosing. Our faculty starts from the premise that success happens in different ways for different students, focusing their efforts individually to ensure every student has the opportunity to attain significant academic achievement. Teachers work alongside students, asking more questions than they answer, negotiating the classroom dynamics of curious minds unleashed. Your path begins here.
