Juice
Hand Blender for Children Product Design JUICE is a low powered electric hand blender designed for aspiring cooks between 9 and 14 years old. Innovative technology and design is leveraged to make the blender safe and easy to use for a target audience that is typically not allowed near it. The innovative application of Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) technology makes food preparation safe, intuitive and fun. The blender can only be operated when it is inserted within the JUICE beaker and the RFID reader detects the RFID tag in the beaker. It would not work beyond the beaker. Remove the blender from the beaker and the connection is cut, rendering the blender unoperatable. There is no need for cumbersome safety switches and buttons. Reducing the complexity of using a blender and making it more intuitive and fun. It also prevents injuries via accidental activation outside intended operating environments.

Mini Monocle
Mixed-Reality App for Young Children App Design Mini Monocle is a mixed-reality iPad app for young children of ages 4 to 6. Mini Monocle aims to improve children’s recognition of real life objects, by allowing them to explore around their houses while learning new vocabulary at the same time. Parents are worried about exposing their child to too much screen time as it is not “beneficial” to the eyes. Doing mixed reality is a good way to mitigate the potential negative perception of an iPad game by encouraging the child to move around. Mini Monocle also sets up a scenario for the parent to be the game master, and be empowered in the child’s learning process.

Nouvelle
Retail Outlet for International Airports Retail Design Inspired by the chapters of a book, Nouvelle is made up of totems that are used for sales, storage and displays. Designed to ease setting up and closing, the glass panels that slide along the rim of the retail space are also used for advertisements and can be flipped out to become dividers, creating semi-private spaces for customers to experience the products. At night, these glass panels allow light to flow out, drawing passers-by in like jewelery store window displays.
