The future of solar technology

SMA Solar Technology Develops, produces and sells solar inverters and monitoring systems for photovoltaic applications. SMA is the worldâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s largest producer in this segment and is the only vendor that has a product range with the matching inverter type for any module type and any power class. This applies for grid tied applications as well as island and backup operation. The inverter is technologically the most important component in any solar power system: it converts the direct current generated in photovoltaic cells into alternating current suitable for the grid. In addition, it is an intelligent system manager, responsible for yield monitoring and grid management. Solar inverters are characterized by a particularly high efficiency. The Sunny Mini Central produced by SMA already has an efficiency of over 98 %, which allows for increased electricity production. Every SMA inverter is equiped with a DC interrupter and have a minimum warranty of 5 years (extensions are possible up till 20 years).

The inverter: The heart of a PV installation. The inverter converts direct current from the solar panels into alternating current. It is very important for as little energy as possible to be lost in conversion. An inverterâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s efficiency is therefore of critical importance. Grid monitoring

If the voltage or frequency of the electricity supply is non-standard, dangerous situations arise. A safe inverter prevents such situations by automatically disconnecting from the power grid if necessary.

Maximum power point (MPP)

The Maximum Power Point indicates the resistance required in the solar cell to generate the maximum energy. Because this point shifts constantly, all inverters have an MPP tracker which continuously adjusts the resistance so that the solar cells operate optimally at all times.

SolRack Alu can be optimally combined with the well-proven Schletter fastening systems for flat roofs. The durable plate made of canted aluminum sheet metal is manufactured by Schletter in the geometry that has been designed especially for that purpose. If there is already gravel on the roof, this gravel can be used for loading the aluminum plates. Alternatively, the plate can also be loaded with concrete weights (for example sidewalk plates). The plates must not be mounted lengthwise under the support!

SolCube is a combination of the well-proven Schletter mounting systems for flat roofs with an economically priced plastic tray made of recycled material. The systems that have been used so far, usually have to be screwed to the continuous beam before. In contrast to that, SolCube can simply be put over the continuous profile DN0 / DN1, screwed and finally loaded with gravel or concrete plates.

The FLATFIX console for flat roof solar systems is carefully designed for making installation easy. FLATFIX is a product for flat or slightly tilted roofs or areas. FLATFIX can either be secured using screws or ballasting. To secure a rooftop array with ballast, standard aluminium profiles can be clicked into specially formed recess. The ballasted array can withstand high wind loads with tilt up to 30° and be as secure as one held down by screws . through its unique aerodynamic design and way of ballasting FLATFIX can do with less as 23kg ballast. FLATFIX standard is delivered in 2 angles 20 ° and 30 °. By the unique design FLATFIX withstand wind speeds up to 12BF with a minimum ballast weight. The roof load is at an angle of 30 ° 23 per sqm.

ConSole mounting systems are the ideal solution for installing PV modules quickly and cost - effectively PV modules on flat roofs. The ConSole system also withstands high wind loads thanks to the simple and customized weighting down approach using ballast such as gravel, footway flagstones or similar materials. The respective ballast weight depends on the building height, the location, the local wind conditions and snow loads, as well as the state of the foundations. The ConSole can be installed on flat roofs with a light pitch of max. 5째 and on the ground.

Larges air slots on the perimeter of the ConSole allow optimal air ventilation of the modules. The new ConSole+ with improved aerodynamic design and lower pitch requires a lower ballast. When the optional Streamliner+ is mounted at the back of the ConSole+ most exposed to the wind, the ballast level can even be more reduced. Optimal load distribution avoids any concentrated loads on the roof surface and no roof penetration nor modification is required. The lower pitch of 15째 of the ConSole+ allows a reduced distance between rows. A new ConSole Clip and self-drilling screws are making the mounting of modules on any ConSole faster and easier.

Intersole The INTERSOLE SE is a complete mounting system designed to integrate all sizes of framed modules (corresponding to IEC61215 or IEC61646) on sloped roofs. Once the tiles have been removed and replaced by InterSole plastic plates (high density polyethylene) the watertightness of the roof is guaranteed. InterSoleplates are hooked onto the battens, liketiles. Specially designed aluminium anchors are placed at strategic locations on top of the INTERSOLE plates and firmly screwed through them into the battens or the rafters. The anchors support the aluminium rails onto which the solar modules are mounted. They also serve as steps for the installer.

FS10 System The FS10 system comprises just four main components, meaning that in addition to reducing storage costs, it can be installed quickly, saving significant amounts of time and money. Depending on the roof surface, the components, which are compatible with virtually all framed solar modules available on the market, can be combined in a variety of configurations. Thanks to the ten degree angle of inclination, the aerodynamic east/west mounting system is also suitable for flat roofs with low load-bearing capacities. The FS10 system is made up of four main components, namely a building protection mat, mounting base, upright support and crest. The PV modules are securely attached between the rear grip clamp on the crest and the highly pliable locking straps, allowing frames of all heights to be mounted flexibly. To mount the modules, installers need a 13 mm combination wrench only.

Metasole If you want to install a PV system on a pitched roof with trapezoidal metal sheet construction and at the same time prefer a simple installation and optimal cost-performance ratio, MetaSole offers you the perfect solution. The compact system makes the fast mounting of framed PV modules on trapezoidal sheet metal roofs between 0.4 mm and 1.5 mm thickness possible. Only four different components are required for the direct installation of the modules: a clamp base with optimised weight, two thin sheet metal screws with special coating, one end clamp, and one middle clamp. The screw with a crowding tip makes pilot drilling unnecessary, which results in extremely short mounting time. The smaller volume, the absence of rails, fewer components, thus the reduction to the absolute minimum results in very low investment costs. MetaSole makes logistics affordable and fast, warehousing cost-effective and easy mounting possible.

The MECOFAB Division in the CARBOMAT group is responsible for developing and manufacturing application requisites for renewable energy. This division has rolled out a patented and innovative product that can provide the home with electric power and hot water for any new-build and alteration project. The stumbling block for owners embarking on photovoltaic and thermal systems is often the aesthetic aspect of their roof. Mecospan offers the ideal answer to this: a beautifully smooth black roof that in addition generates energy in the 4 wind directions. Mecospan is a sandwich panel consisting of 70 cm wide modules. Length as desired (made to measure to suit the roof surfaces) into which the vapour barrier, insulation, watertight aluminium as well as the photovoltaic panels are incorporated. The attic finish with a vapour barrier is standard, but it can also feature an OSB board, chipboard, plasterboard or other finish as an option to suit the customer’s wishes. The appearance is that of a uniform roof in which the ridge and eaves in each project are finished in high-gloss black painted aluminium giving your roof a uniform overall appearance. The sandwich panel features 11 cm thick PUR insulation (insulation rating: R-value = 4.15) pressed together between two timber beams and aluminium sections that hold the solar panels. The unit is made watertight by a folded aluminium sheet. Watertight zinc flashing is available for dormer windows and chimneys. Mecospan saves roofers a great deal of time given that they need not provide any beams, sarking or tile battens. Moreover the insulation is laid directly and done to a budget-friendly plan. In September 2012 Mecofab received the “Energy efficiency Award” for the Mecospan product and has developed it to offer a total roofing package including insulation, the roof and solar panels all in one.

Wind turbines

The Prevent company is a German company which develops wind turbines of 300watt and 600watt. Worldâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s first turbine which the rotor begins to turn at winds as low as 0.8 m/s and capable of producing a charge at winds as low as 1.8 m/s (6,48km/h). No other wind turbine starts at that low wind speed. This is because it is based on a unique design, the only turbine available without a magnetic restraint moment!
