As a new year begins, we know you’re starting to feel antsy and excited to hit the trails and play in the parks. Warmer weather allows our citizens to get out and active in Bentonville. In 2015, Bentonville Parks & Recreation witnessed it’s most successful year to date. Throughout 2015, we had over 58,000 participants in programs like RunBentonville, Bike Bentonville, youth and adult sports, and more! In addition, we had over 321,000 patrons utilize the Bentonville Community Center, Downtown Activity Center, Lawrence Plaza, and the Melvin Ford Aquatic Center. Thank you Bentonville for being active in 2015!

· Food and drink are permitted only in the lobby; no chewing gum is allowed in the activity center.
The City of Bentonville and Bentonville Parks and Recreation expect reasonable and appropriate behavior from those who visit and use the facilities and participate in activities. Bentonville Parks and Recreation has established a code of conduct to ensure safety and enjoyment and reserves the right to deny admission and/or take disciplinary action against any individual violating the code of conduct. A violation includes, but is not limited to, the use of obscene language or gestures, disorderly conduct, theft, public intoxication, use of drugs, sexual misconduct, indecency, harassment, failure to cooperate with staff, possession of weapons of any kind, non-compliance with established policies and rules, an unlawful activity and any other behavior deemed offensive or unacceptable. Staff will enforce this code of conduct.
· Use of alcohol, tobacco of any form, or other drugs are prohibited in any park facility or building. · No fire arms or weapons are allowed in any park facility or building. · Use of our parks is considered a privilege. Those who do not cooperate with established policies, use abusive language, are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or act inappropriately toward Bentonville Parks and Recreation Staff or another patron will be asked to leave and may be asked to not return. · Approval to post flyers, signs, or posters must be obtained from the Parks & Recreation Director. · Tape is not allowed on the walls, floors, or ceiling. · Bentonville Parks and Recreation is not responsible for loss due to theft. Secure all valuables in a locked locker. A lost and found is available at the front desk. · No pets are permitted in the activity center unless used specifically as a service dog. · Only activity center staff members may operate sound and video equipment. Only personal headsets with personal stereos are allowed. · All accidents and equipment damage must be reported to an activity center staff person or program supervisor immediately. · Personal private contract work, i.e., personal training or fitness workouts, are not permitted without written permission from the Parks & Recreation Director & payment of a usage fee.

Rental Rates
Programs such as summer camps, adult volleyball leagues or adult basketball leagues will not require memberships. Those programs will be fee-based per team. Camps and other programs will have member / non-member fees. Annual membership must be paid by cash, check or credit card in a one-time installment. This fee is nonrefundable/non-transferable. Wellness Classes
Spring 2016 | Wellness Classes We offer a variety of wellness programming including group fitness classes (listed below), personal training, fitness assessments, a variety of aquatic fitness classes, fitness challenges, and active adult activities (must be 13 years or older to participate in Wellness Classes). Current Wellness Schedules for Community Center and Downtown Activity Center can be found on playbentonville.com.
General Wellness BB Barre The Booty Barre™ class is a unique fun, high energy class that fuses legendary fitness techniques from Pilates, Dance, Yoga and Athletic Intervals. You will streamline, firm, tighten, and tone your entire body without adding bulk, while creating balance, body awareness, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance. No dance background is required. Class size is limited.
Body Barre A low impact class designed to strengthen, tone, and balance the whole body. Barre will include workouts that incorporate ballet barre, light weights & other equipment. Each class includes effective sequence of toning with emphasis on core, arms, glutes, and thighs. Class size is limited.
Barre Express A shorter version of our Body Barre class that delivers maximum results in a minimum amount of time.

Strengthens, lengthens, and tones all muscle groups with a combination of ballet, pilates, and strength training. Class size is limited.
Yoga Flow Flow through yoga postures using your breath as your guide to bring together the mind, body, breath and spirit. Physical practice of Asana (the poses) increased flexibility and strength. As your practice develops, observe your flexibility and strength off the mat as well. We recommend participants to bring their own mats.
BollyX Bolly X is a Bollywood-inspired dancefitness program that combines dynamic choreography with the hottest music from around the world. Its 50-minute cardio workout cycles between higher and lowerintensity dance sequences to get you moving, sweating, and motivated all at the same time. At the very core of a BollyX workout is the inspiration it draws from the music and dance of Bollywood, the film industry of India. Class offered at Community Center on Friday’s from 6:30-7:30pm in the Wellness Studio.
Interval Cycling These rides focus on specific work efforts alternated with recover periods. These may be easier in intensity (“aerobic intervals”), where work intervals are longer in length (5-15 min) with shorter recovery periods. Higher intensity intervals (“anaerobic intervals”) are also offered, and will be more intense, with shorter work intervals (15 sec- 3 min) and longer recoveries. A good fitness base is recommended for this 30 minute high intensity class.
Bentonville Community Center Wellness Classes
Cycling & Core Indoor cycling is a group exercise class performed on stationary bikes. During the class, the instructor simulates hill-climbing, sprints, and races. It is truly a fantastic cardiovascular workout. You will be kept motivated by the instructor, the people around you, and the music. Get prepared for the workout of your life! Water and towels are a must!
Boot Camp Circuit Individualize your workout by training at your own intensity as you rotate through a circuit of strength and cardio intervals that are different every class. Maximize fitness gains with uncomplicated training and a motivating group environment.
Jump Start A high intensity 30 min class that focuses on plyometric, cardio and body weight exercises. All fitness levels are encouraged.
PiYo A perfect blend of Pilates/Yoga with dance and athletics. This is a stretch workout for those who want more than just flexibility; they want to burn fat and build muscle. This dynamic fusion workout is easy on the joints, yet delivers strength, balance, agility and flexibility in one unique calorieburning workout.
Pilates Mat Classes flow through a series of controlled exercises that engage the mind while conditioning the total body. The combination of strength and flexibility training improves posture and balance, creates long, lean muscles, and aids in stress
Lunch Xpress Are you one of those where it is hard to find time to exercise before and after work? If so this class may be the one for you. This class consists of a light cardio warm up that flows into muscle toning exercise that work the entire body. At the end is some stretching to send you on your way back to the office.
TRX Rip Training
RIPPED A plateau proof fitness formula bringing together the five components of fitness: resistance, interval, power, plyometrics, endurance and diet. R.I.P.P.E.D. is a safe, fun, and effective athletic based program designed for any age and fitness level.
Zumba Zumba is an exhilarating, effective easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired, calorie burning dance fitness party that’s moving millions of people toward joy and health.
TRX Basic Start with this simple TRX workout as you increase total-body flexibility, promote mobility, stability, and develop core strength. This class focuses on technique, flexibility,
balance, and strength by developing basic foundational exercises through easy to follow progressions. Class size is limited (60-min class).
TRX Circuit Ready to challenge your workouts with high intensity, powerful movements at faster tempos? This class has interval sets combining TRX and cardio drills. This class keeps your heart rate pumping, and burning mega calories while you are engaged in intense body conditioning. Class size is limited (45-min class).
Cycle Xpress Fitness Indoor cycling at it’s finest offering a variety of Interval based drills on the indoor cycle that mimics the outdoor ride. Plus an off the bike workout focusing on upper body and core with a variety of exercised using resistance methods and body weight to tone and build muscle. A great overall workout in just 40 minutes, class is offered at our Downtown Activity Center. Class is limited to 9 participants.
Cycling & Strength If you are looking to effectively train every part of your body in every way give this class a shot! Start with a traditional group cycle class on our Keiser bikes to challenge your heart and define your lower body, then get into strength mode by getting off the bike and moving your body in all different directions with all strength style exercises! No coordination or rhythm required - just a big heart and passion for fitness!
Group X It’s like having a personal trainer only in a group setting. Together we focus on Cardiovascular Endurance, Speed, Power, Agility, Accuracy, Coordination, Balance, Flexibility, Strength, Stamina. We focus on programmed workouts that incorporate all of the above with specific goals that build each week. We will hit all three energy systems and access hormones which lean you out, build muscle, and help with recovery. We will use all the equipment with in the gym as well as do workouts outside. Ages 15+.

This class will alternate intervals of cardio drills and strength training exercises for a full body workout that will help you reach your fitness goals whether you are a novice participant or an athlete that wants to push your limits.
Yoga Flow & Restore Yoga Flow & Restore combines warming vinyasa flow with supported restorative postures for a balanced and relaxing practice. We will begin warming the body with traditional sun salutations and standing postures, work on arm balances and inversions, move to seated folds and twists, and end with a few deep restorative poses using props to fully open the hips, spine, and heart.
Power Pump A strength class using bar weights and hand weights to increase muscle strength and tone. This workout is fast paced, working each muscle group for a total body strength workout in only 30 minutes. **Recommend arriving a few minutes early to set up needed weights and bench. Class offered at BCC on Tuesday/Thursday from 11:30-12:00pm.
Core & Strength A 30 minute beginner to intermediate total body sculpting workout using free weights, resistance bands and body bars.
Circuit Training Challenge your body with intense intervals paired with quick rest periods to strength, tone, and push 09
your body to new limits. Circuits are a great way to achieve total body fitness and improve body compositions. All fitness levels are welcome.
Restorative Yoga Restorative Yoga explores the individual’s capacity to release muscle tension and relax deeply. We will move through a series of gentle postures using various props for support. When the body is supported it gets the message to let go of long-held tension. Come learn and enjoy the “art of relaxation”. Suggested: comfortable, layered clothing.
Boot Camp High Intensity Interval Training focus workout will get your heart rate up and every muscle working. This high intensity torches calories but will also rev up your metabolism. This class includes plyometrics, kickboxing, strength training and much more.
Step With a portable platform with height adjustable risers, you will do choreographed exercise routines up, onto, down and around the step for great cardio fitness, as well as exceptional training to shape the lower body. Your coordination will be tested at times! If you want strong legs, a lifted butt and a functionally fit core - step this way! Offered at the Community Center. Class size is limited.
Step N Strength An interval class that mixes both step aerobics and strength training in one designed workouts. This unique class allows you to work both your

heart & your muscles extensively in one class. By doing short circuits of cardio on the step, followed by strategic intervals of strength training, you will definitely leave this class feeling like you used your time efficiently.
Prenatal/Postnatal BumpFit Get in the best shape of your life while pregnant! This class combines cardio, strength training, and a yoga-based cool down. Meet other moms-to-be and stay fit and healthy through all stages of pregnancy. This class is open to pregnant women of all fitness levels. Signed medical consent form is required prior to attending the first class. Class is located at our Downtown Location, Downtown Activity Center in Studio A from 5:30-6:30pm.There are two sessions to choose from: Spring Session A (6 sessions): Wed. Feb 10 - Wed. March 16 Spring Session B (6 sessions): Wed. March 30 - Wed. May 4 Member: $30 Non-Members: $35 Drop-In: $5/$6
Stroller Bootcamp Calling all moms and pre-crawling babies! Gear up your fitness routine and bring baby along for the ride. We’ll incorporate the strollers into our cardio, strength training and balance workout. This workout is scalable for moms at all fitness levels. Class will be held outside, weather permitting, so bring sunscreen, a hat and water bottle. Umbrella strollers not recommended. Signed medical consent form is required prior to attending the first class. Classes are 60 minutes long and are offered on Wednesdays from 10:30-11:30am.
Stroller Boot Camp will be at Community Center at the front desk. Classes will be held outside weather permitting. In inclement weather, class will be held in the indoor track or gym. Calling all moms and pre-crawling babies! In this cardio, strength, and balance-based class you have the option to utilize a stroller or a carrier to workout with your baby. Please bring your choice of stroller or supportive carrier to class. After the cardio portion of class, baby can relax next to mom in a car seat, on a boppy or on a blanket on your mat. This workout is scalable for moms at all fitness levels. Signed medical consent form is required prior to attending the first class. Classes are

Small Group TreadHIIT TreadHIIT is a cardio/weight training class that alternates between a treadmill and selected weights that will guarantee to increase muscle & burn calories in a fun workout geared to your individual level and goals. TreadHIIT is a class for everyone, not just runners. Class size is limited to 12 participants. Members can register monthly at playbentonville.com or at the Community Center Front Desk. Class starts August 31st at 1pm on Mondays and Wednesdays. Member: $25 Non-Member: $30
Strong Women This class is offered at 1:00 pm when the fitness floor is less crowded. A certified personal trainer will lead the 60-minute class through various exercises on our strength machines for a balanced workout. Class is offered at the Community Center on Tues/Thurs and we will meet downstairs next to the wellness desk. Class is free & limited to 7 members.
Group Personal Training Want to become healthier while being held accountable? We suggest working out with a friend or friends. A certified personal trainer can meet with you and your friends for an initial appointment and begin your group fitness training session. Please visit Wellness Desk for more information. This water exercise class is designed to focus on cardiovascular fitness, muscular endurance and flexibility. Open to all levels of fitness. Instruction includes low impact options. Swimmers and non -swimmers alike will benefit from this program. Location: Competitive Pool
Deep Water Running This is a challenging class held in the deep end, where you’ll run vertically without stressing your joints. You’ll increase your land stamina and power in the process. Location: Competitive Pool.
Aqua Zumba
®
Aqua Zumba® is the “pool party” workout for all ages. You’ll learn challenging and effective waterbased workouts that integrate various Latin American/international rhythms and dances into traditional aqua fitness environment. Benefits include being one of the best forms of exercise for muscles in the human body, an increase in participants’ aerobic fitness level, and it’s fun and invigorating to be in water. Aqua Bootcamp Get ready to be challenged by the resistance of the water in Aqua Bootcamp! Adults of all ages can benefit from this high intensity, interval workout using resistance equipment for an additional challenge. Great cross-training

option for athlete’s wanting to reduce impact without sacrificing intensity. Class will be offered on Monday and Wednesday from 10:30-11:30am Location: Competitive Pool
Personal Wellness Strength and Cardiovascular Equipment Orientation We recommend a complimentary wellness orientation to familiarize new members with our unique state of the art wellness equipment cutting edge technology. Please schedule an orientation at Wellness Desk.
12 Weeks to Success 12 Weeks to Success is a nonintimidating program is designed for members just starting out and want to ease into a fitness program that isn’t overwhelming and can be done on your own time. Week 1: Meet with certified trainer, fill out questionnaire, set goals, and get started on our cardiovascular machines. Week 5: Meet with same certified trainer, talk about the last 4 weeks, and introduced to 4 more strength machines. Week 9: Meet with same certified trainer, talk about the last 8 weeks, and introduced to 4 more strength machines.
Personal Training Initial assessment package is the option for all new clients, whether you are a first time exerciser or seasoned athlete. The package will include three appointments with a trainer as outlined below. Member: $135 Non-Member: $150 First Appointment: Trainer will meet with YOU to discuss your responses to the questionnaire packet: as well as the purpose and procedures of the fitness assessment. Then you will undergo a series of assessments determined by your certified personal trainer in order for them to gain valuable insight into your current level of fitness (60 min session). Second Appointment: Certified personal trainer will review the results of your assessment and begin planning your individualized fitness program. You will also receive thorough instruction in proper exercise techniques, so please be prepared to exercise in proper exercise attire and sneakers (60 min session). Third Appointment: You will continue to learn more about your new program and receive additional instruction in cardiovascular, resistance, flexibility, or sport specific training. At the conclusion of your 3rd session you can continue with your training for 30 or 60 minutes sessions, or take your program to work independently.

Health Coaching If improving your health is on your priority list, but jumping into a fitness program is intimidating, then health coaching is the option for you. A certified health coach and will work with you to determine the changes necessary to improve your health. Endurance Coaching Individual Sessions Run Form Analysis 45 minute Coach Ron session where we video tape your run form from all angles. Using special software we analyze your body position, footstrike, shin angle, and practice drills to improve your running efficiency, effectiveness, and help prevent injury. Senior Fitness A low impact class that includes exercises for the total body in order to improve muscle strength/ endurance, balance, and posture. Fit Kids 30 minutes of pure FUN! Ages 5-10 are welcome. We will get our sweat on, learn proper movements, improve coordination, balance, strength, and endurance, all while playing. Class will meet in the gymnasium on Tuesday/Thursday at 4:30pm.
Older Youth Certification All members 12-15 years old must attend a free certification class to use the fitness room equipment. In this class you will learn the rules of the fitness room and how to properly use the weight and cardio

HIPHOP 6-Week Session (cont.)
All students in ballet/tap combo classes are required to wear appropriate dance clothes. This consists of a leotard and tights. Students may wear Soffe style shorts or dance skirts over their leotard. Jazz/yoga pants or other fitted athletic pants with a tank top or fitted t-shirt are acceptable for hip hop. No baggy clothes please. Students must have their hair pulled back in a bun, ponytail, pigtails, etc. Hair should be out of the face and off of the neck.
Students are expected to wear the appropriate shoes for the class they are in. Pink ballet shows and black tap flats are preferred for the ballet/tap combo classes. Jazz shoes or dance sneakers are preferred for hiphop. Sneakers are also acceptable for hiphop class.
T-shirts and shorts are not acceptable dance attire.

8 week program starting January 6th. Am I Hungry?速 is an alternative to yo-yo dieting that does not require weighing and measuring food, counting, points or eating pre-packaged meals. You will learn new tools and strategies to help you understand why you eat what you eat and things you can do about it in everyday situations. In addition to the book and workbook that are part of the registration fee, participants receive daily motivational emails, access to participants-only parts of the AIH website, and support from a Registered Dietitian. Class will be offered on Mondays in the Citizens Lounge from 10:00-11:30 am at the Community Center. Preregistration is required. Class size is limited.

Make and keep those New Year’s Resolutions this year! During 2016, we are challenging you to complete 12 monthly fitness challenges to make this year your strongest yet! Each month, you’ll tackle a unique new challenge whether it’s biking, running, swimming, and more! We’ll provide you with a tracking sheet each month to help keep you accountable. 1. Sign up online or at the Bentonville Community Center (Be sure to provide your email!). 2. In December 2015, you’ll receive your unique challenge ribbon and your official t-shirt with a checklist of challenges on the back. 3. If you are one of the first 50 people to register, be sure to schedule your In-Body Test. 4. You will receive via email a January spreadsheet for the first challenge. 5. By the 15th of each month, receive our challenge newsletter. 6. Once challenge is complete for the month, a staff member will “X” the finished box. 7. Complete each month’s challenge and receive a unique pin to attach to you ribbon to show completion. 8. Complete all 12 monthly challenges to receive a finishers medal to complete your ribbon and your name will go on a plaque to be displayed at the Bentonville Community Center.

General Aquatics Swim Clinic Personalized stroke analysis and video, learn performance techniques that improve efficiency, learn drills for stroke enhancement. Requirements: Must be able to swim 50 yards of freestyle continuously and be ready for more. Recreation Swim Team Recreational youth swim team for children 5-15 years old, working to improve their strokes, starts, turns, and finishes in a non-competitive, team oriented environment. There are 4 practices offered each week. We encourage participation in 2 of them. Requirements: Must be able to swim a minimum of 25 yards of freestyle continuously without stopping and be ready for more. Swimmers will be swimming approximately 500 yards per practice. The first practice is an assessment to ensure that each child is able to meet these requirements. The coach will inform the parent if an 19

Glow Swim Come join us for this exciting night time experience of swimming in the dark! We will turn off all the pool deck lights, and leave on all the water features (slides, adventure river, and play structures). This class is designed as a child’s first learning experience in the pool without parental assistance. This class is limited to 3 participants. Students are taught basic swimming and water safety skills. The teacher is focusing on fostering a love of swimming and the importance of safety. Introduction to the Level I skills as the children are ready for it once the students have demonstrated that they are ready to proceed to a more learning environment.
This program is designed for the student that has not had any formal swim instruction, and is ready to take the plunge. The instructor is patient and works with everyone individually when ready for the next skill. This class is structured so that every client will feel comfortable with each step.

The first lesson for the Group Levels 1/2/3 will be an assessment to ensure the proper grouping of skill levels for the participants. This class is designed as a child’s first learning experience in the pool without parental assistance. Students are taught basic swimming and water safety skills. This class includes a teacher with up to 5 students for 30 minutes. Progression through the levels occurs one a child has mastered the skills needed to complete this level.
This class is designed for the student that is comfortable with their face in the water and feet off the bottom. It is NOT necessary for the child to have completed level I before registering for level II. However, it is important that the child can comfortably perform most of the skills in level I.

Art in Our World is curriculum for home-schooled children. In Abrakadoodle art classes, students are encouraged to explore their own individual creative talents and abilities, learn about Artists of Distinction, explore a wide range of art materials and techniques and design their original artwork. Each session, all new artists and techniques will be introduced. Abrakadoodle’s curriculum meets and exceeds all requirements for National Standards of Art & Arkansas Standards for Art. The sun rises in the East and sets in the West every day. Just so, artists from East to West and everywhere in between create interesting and beautiful paintings every day! Traverse the world through the fantastical landscapes of English artist Poul Webb. Explore traditional motifs in vase paintings by Chinese artist Zhu Yongjin. Have fun creating art with Miffy the bunny inspired by Chinese painter Liu Ye. Create eye-popping portraits inspired by vibrant Latvian artist Elita Patmalniece and enormous trees in the style of ingenious American Disney illustrator Eyvind Earle. Explore color through the circular abstracts of Japanese artist Atsuko Tanaka. Explore fantastical landscapes, circular drip paintings, mosaic vases, portraits and more! If you’ve always wanted to combine different media, but didn’t know what to combine or how to combine them, this class is for you! During Introduction to Mixed Media , Lyshell ReAnn will cover all the basics and teach you how to lay out a mixed media art piece, step-by-step and item-by-item. You’ll learn about common materials and how each media within the piece works and interacts with the others. You’ll learn how to: Create a collage base on canvas, affix crayon wax and beeswax to a piece, use stencils to add texture and/or imagery, and add texture with gesso. The five main painting mediums used in the class are acrylics, watercolors, oils, pastels and tempera. You will learn which materials work well together and get lots of tips you can use when creating pieces in the future. Even the most inexperienced beginner will develop a new appreciation for the art form and learn skills they can use to start making their own mixed media art. All Supplies Included! Camp Super Science! 1 Day Camp of Educational Entertainment
A full day of fun hands-on science for 4 to 13 year olds, and parents are welcome to stay at no charge. Activities will include rocket building and launches, slime making, T-Rex dinosaur tooth (fossil) casting, laser and light show, and more! This day will fly by with a final lesson on the science behind cotton candy. Yep! Everyone gets all-you-can eat cotton candy! Be sure to bring a sack lunch. We will provide the beverages. Camp Strider!
Bring your own STRIDER or balance bicycle (small bicycle without pedals) and join Kids Bike Arkansas for Camp Strider at the Bentonville Community Center! Camp Strider consists of five 1-hour sessions where your child will learn coordination, how to balance, the basic terminology of a bike, and develop confidence all while singing, laughing, and playing with kids of their age and ability. Campers will receive a Certificate of Accomplishment after successfully completing the camp. Parents are required to attend the camp with their child and will learn about helmet and bike fit while having fun participating! Camp is limited to 20 children. Bentonville Parks & Recreation offers a recreation youth soccer program for girls and boys ages 3-Junior High. As a part of a comprehensive approach to community recreation, this program focuses on participation, sportsmanship, and skill development. Along with our recreation league, we also offer Little Kicksters. Little Kicksters Soccer is an introductory program for children. Little Kicksters is limited to the first 100 registered participants and consists of fun activities and games designed to introduce players to the fundamentals of soccer.
