FROM THE DIRECTOR Longer days are finally upon us and Bentonville Parks & Recreation is gearing up for another exciting summer season. The arrival of the warm weather brings a flurry of activities, including our largest program of the season, Camp Bentonville. We have added a variety of camps for 2016 including Camp Basketball, Camp Lego Superhero Academy, and Camp Trike Theater: Improv and Comedy. We’ve worked hard to expand our camp offerings to include the many interests and hobbies your children have. Programming at the Bentonville Community Center continues throughout the summer with a variety of fitness and leisure options for all. On June 18th, we will host our first annual Playfest which features something for everyone. We will host a bike ride, run, soccer tournament, swim meet, baggo tournament, live music, and more! We hope this day will serve as a celebration for all things play! Summer also means pool season! Melvin Ford Aquatic Center will open on May 30th. Be sure to check out all of our Melvin Ford programming including swim lessons, swim team, Wibit Wednesdays, and more! Sincerely,

Lil’ Sluggers is a 4 week introductory softball program for girls ages 3 and 4. This program is an activity based program that avoids the use of game formats and teams, to keep youth involved more throughout the program. Children will develop fundamental skills for softball like throwing, baserunning, catching, and fielding through activities, games, and instruction. Participants will attend eight 45-minute sessions, receive a program t-shirt, and a completion medal. Children and parents, both, participate together in this activity to learn and grow together in an environment set up for fun.
