British street artist Paolo Cirio is bringing the images of passersby caught onGoogle Street View back to the real-life location in which the pictures were taken with the help of life-size posters. If you've ever used Google's Street View, you likely know that people are often captured in scenes, from hailing a cab and waiting for the bus to just hanging out in front of the Apple store. And typically, the faces of these people are blurred out. Cirio takes issue with the fact that Google is making money from taking pictures of locations and the people that occupy those areas - without permission. In response, he's turning Google's Street View images into street art without the search engine's permission. He is calling his project 'Street Ghosts.' 'The collections of data that Google and similar corporations have become the material of everyday life, yet their source is the personal information of private individuals,' Cirio said onhis site. 'By remixing and reusing this material, I artistically explore the boundaries of ownership and exposure of this publicly displayed, privately-held information about our personal lives.' So far, 'Street Ghosts' images have been installed in New York City, London and Berlin.
