Summer has arrived and I’m sure I’m not alone in loving the longer days and warmer weather. It really is the season to be outdoors. And whether that’s entertaining in the garden or planning some planting we’re here to help make your summertime even more special.
Our Outdoor Living department and Open Skies Glass House are once again brimming with ideas and we’ve got everything you need to turn your garden into the perfect outdoor space, leaving you to enjoy every moment.
And I can’t sign off without mentioning our latest award; the Garden Centre Association’s title of Best Garden Centre in the UK. A huge achievement which acknowledges our quality standards and the fantastic customer service delivered by all our colleagues. A big thank you to them all for making our family business such a special place to be.

...I wanted to give some feedback on my visit today. I needed help in the gifts section, dining hall and collection point. Each and every member of staff could not have helped me more. Their customer service was outstanding, the food was delicious too. I have shopped at Bents for over 15 years and even now I have moved further away I still love visiting. Lovely place for an afternoon out. Lots of different things to see. Has everything from plants to craft shops... There is a dog cafe also. There are a few ‘eateries’ in here. Also it is fully accessible and also offers a couple of free to use wheelchairs. The food hall has a large range of lovely local produce. The cakes are amazing. All in all a great place to wander around.

As we welcome the Motor Neurone Disease Association as our new charity of the year, we are also very proud of the fantastic amount raised during 2022 for Manchester Mind.
Customers and colleagues once again showed enormous generosity in helping to raise £23,500.00 for this amazing charity which has been supporting better mental health for all in Manchester for over 30 years. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped make our 2022 campaign such a success and we are now looking forward to a new challenge with the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
The MND Association focuses on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by MND, a condition which affects up to 5,000 adults in the UK at any one time. We’ve got lots of events and fund-raising opportunities planned throughout the year so keep a look out for further details.

be inspired
300g fusilli pasta spirals – or you can use farfalle (butterflies) or penne (quill tubes)
Cucumber cut into chunks
Cherry tomatoes, halved Black olives
Red onion, thinly sliced
Feta cheese, broken into rough chunks
3 tbsp olive oil
METHOD
Tip the fusilli into a large pan of boiling salted water and boil for 12 minutes.
Tip the tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, olives and Feta into a big bowl, grind lots of black pepper over and then drizzle with the olive oil.
Toss in the drained pasta and spinach, and let everyone help themselves.
INGREDIENTS
2 large strawberries (and extra to serve)
2 tbsp white sugar
200ml Fentimans Victorian Lemonade
A handful of ice cubes
INGREDIENTS
2 large skinless chicken breasts
1 tbsp vegetable oil
Cherry tomatoes, halved
2 small avocados, stoned, peeled and halved
½ lime, juiced
2 flour tortilla wraps
1 Little Gem lettuce, leaves separated
METHOD
Cut chicken breasts into slices and gently fry in the oil. Halve the cherry tomatoes, finely shred the lettuce leaves.
Scoop the avocado flesh into a bowl add lime juice and a pinch of salt, then mash. Spread over the tortilla wraps, top with the lettuce, tomatoes and chicken. Season with salt and pepper.
Roll the tortilla wraps up, halve and serve.
METHOD
Combine the strawberries, sugar, Fentimans Victorian lemonade, and ice in a blender and blend until the mixture is smooth.
Strain the mixture into a cooled cocktail glass and garnish with a halved strawberry.
(Tip: for a frozen strawberry daiquiri, fill your cocktail glasses with crushed ice before you strain the mixture into them.)

We’ve got fund-raising initiatives going on throughout the week and lots planned to raise awareness.
