THE MECHANICAL PROCESSMIXTURE OF TURNING AND DRILLING

In turning ,mechanical work is performed on the necks of the handles as well as turning ,drilling broaching and million operations. There are also various handles that are created directly in the lathe ; in these cases the brass bar is worked with the spindle and subsequently bent when hot.

There are two ways of making a door handle either forging or casting.Forging is considered to be the best method to make a handle.

What is Forging?

Forging is a metal working process that manipulates, shapes, deforms, and compresses metal in order to achieve a desired form, configuration, or appearance outlined by a metal processing design or diagram

Forged steel is generally stronger and more reliable and stronger than castings and plate steel due to the fact that the grain flows of the steel are altered, conforming to the shape of the part.

Benefits of Forging

Directional Strength

Resistance to Fatigue

What is Casting?

Casting is a manufacturing process in which a liquid material is usually poured into a mold that contains a cavity of the desired shape and then allowed to solidify.

Casting processes involve the use of molten material, usually metal This molten material is then poured into a mold cavity that takes the form of the finished part.
