Ben Van Berkel: Redefining ArchitectureAnd Designing

Born in the Netherlands in 1957, Ben Van Berkel is a Dutch architect who studied architecture at the Architectural AssociationfromLondonandtheRietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Later, he receivedtheAACertificationwithHonours in1987

In 1988, he set up an architectural platformwithCarolineBosinAmsterdam. Since then, he has been excelling in a great variety of projects He has indeed readdressed the architecture and designingindustryandhasblesseditwith anupdatedperspectiveandoutline.

Among the various outstanding projects Van Berkel & Bos Architecture Bureau handled, the most well-recognized ones include the Karbouw Office Building, the Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam, the Museum Het Valkhof in Nijmegen, the Moebius House, and the NMR facilities for theUniversityofUtrecht.

Ben Van Berkel and Caroline Bos decided to take their platform a step further and relaunched the architectural practice later in 1998 by the name of UN Studio, the UN standing for ‘United Net.’ UN Studio presents itself as an international network of professionals in architecture, urban development, and infrastructure and is presentlybasedintheNetherlands.
