History Art.e é nata nel 1987, dal desiderio di dar forma a un’idea-“il progettare” come funzione vitale dell’uomo, come necessità che ne pervade tutti gli aspetti della vita. La progettualità é un bisogno dell’anima, e il progettare é un viaggio cosciente in cui, ricchezza culturale, capacità di analisi, spirito critico, conoscenza di sé e bisogno creativo si fondono, in un grande atto innovatore. In questo crediamo e su questo abbiamo costruito il nostro lavoro nell’arco degli anni, con grande passione e attenzione. Ciò che si cerca di trasmettere agli studenti è innanzitutto la sensibilità verso questi segnali che anticipano le mode, facendo propri i nuovi stimoli e trasformandoli in nuove idee creative per la passerella. L’unione di nuove tendenze, tecnologia, processi produttivi e politica aziendale permette di sviluppare una competenza ampia e completa indispensabile in un settore complesso e dinamico come quello della moda. In this course, fashion is viewed as the creative process which allows us to understand and interpret the symbols and sentiments present in contemporary society, which is dynamic and in a constant state of evolution. What we aim to impart to the students is in the first instance a sensibility towards those symbols that dictate trends in fashion, and the means to make new stimuli of their own, so that they may be transformed into new ideas for the catwalk. The combination of new trends, technology, productive processes and corporate policy allows for the development of the comprehensive and wide ranging skills required in the complex and dynamic realm of the fashion industry. The courses in bag and shoe design are intended to produce new innovations in luggage and footwear, which are fundamental sectors of the fashion industry. Grafica Graphic Design Questo corso intende la Grafica Pubblicitaria come uno strumento di comunicazione e come tale viene proposta agli studenti che attraverso esercitazioni pratiche di crescente complessitĂ possono sviluppare le proprie

competenze tecnico-pratiche di disegno a mano libera e di utilizzo di programmi di computer grafica. Il corso mira dunque alla formazione di figure professionali che siano in grado di operare in questo settore creativo sia attraverso le modalitĂ grafiche tradizionali che con quelle multimediali del web design. Si tratta di un processo graduale di studio e progettazione che permette di sviluppare un linguaggio ed uno stile che oltre ad essere personale possa essere anche funzionale e vincente dal punto di vista della comunicazione.

In this course, graphic design is viewed as an instrument of communication. The students , through practical exercises of increasing complexity, can develop their technical and practical skills within the field of drawing and computer graphics. With the aim of the formation of professional figures that are capable of operating in this creative sector both using traditional graphic methods and innovative web design, the course develops a language and a style which are not only personal, but also a good way of communication. Arte Fine Arts Il corso di Arte permette agli studenti di potenziare le proprie capacità espressive e tecniche nel campo del disegno e della pittura, affrontando svariati temi e stili: dai più tradizionali a quelli più contemporanei. Si vuole sollecitare l’individualità artistica degli studenti, sperimentando soluzioni espressive sempre nuove che permettano di dare voce alle emozioni e alla creatività personale. Questo corso rappresenta una esperienza unica vissuta proprio in uno dei più importanti centri dell’arte italiana a contatto diretto con i più grandi capolavori, fonte continua ed inesauribile di ispirazione e studio.

The art course allows students to strengthen their expressive and technical capacity within the field of painting and design, adopting various themes and styles: ranging from classic and traditional to the more modern and contemporary. This course aims to develop the artistic individuality of the students, experimenting with various new forms new forms of expression which allow them to give voice to their emotions and demonstrate their personal creativity. This course represents a unique experience undertaken in one of Italy’s most important centres for art and art history, being in close proximity to some of the greatest masterpieces, which provide a continuous source of study material and inspiration.

Fotografia / Photography

Fotografia Photography La pellicola in bianco e nero, la macchina fotografica, la stampa in camera oscura. Questa è l’origine della fotografia. Ed insegnare la fotografia nella sua essenza di luce e ombra attraverso i materiali, la loro manipolazione attraverso la fotocamera e successivamente con il loro trattamento chimico e meccanico in camera oscura è lo scopo dei corsi di Fotografia Tradizionale. I primi strumenti di questo processo sono la fotocamera e la pellicola: padroneggiare gli obiettivi, i tempi ed i diaframmi per ottenere differenti risultati sulla pellicola, e scegliere la pellicola più adatta alle varie situazioni fotografiche. Tutto questo per imparare a scegliere non solo cosa fotografare, ma anche come fotografarlo. Quindi i chimici per lo sviluppo delle pellicole e le varie fasi necessarie alla creazione di un negativo pronto per essere stampato. Infine l’interpretazione del negativo, cioè la stampa: la sua destinazione, la scelta del tipo e della dimensione della carta fotografica, le tecniche di mascheratura e bruciatura, il trattamento chimico per la rivelazione dell’immagine – lo sviluppo.Questo processo è costantemente inserito in un contesto storico di analisi e confronto dei vari generi fotografici (reportage, street, fashion, still life,…) e delle caratteristiche stilistiche ed operative proprie ad ognuno, nella consapevolezza che la fotografia, oltre ad essere una mezzo espressivo, significa innanzitutto instaurare un rapporto con ciò che viene fotografato.

Black and white film, a camera, and printing in a dark room. This is the origin of photography. And to teach photography in the essence of light and dark through materials and how the camera manipulates them and the subsequent chemical and mechanical processes in the dark room are the main goals of the traditional photography courses. The principal instruments of this process are the camera and the film: to master the lenses, exposures and diaphragms to obtain different results on the film, and to choose the correct film for various photographic situations. This is all in order to learn not only what to photograph, but also how to photograph it. Therefore one must also consider the chemicals used in developing the film, and v=the various phases involved in producing a negative that is ready to be printed.

Ultimately, the interpretation of the negative, i.e. printing: its destination, the choice of the type and dimension of the photographic paper, the techniques of masking and burning, the chemical treatment for the revelation of the image - the developing. This process is constantly viewed in historical context with the analysis comparison of different photographic genres (e.g. reportage, street, fashion, still life etc.) and the stylistic and operational characteristics of each one, in the knowledge that photography apart from being a means of expression is above all establishment of a relationship with what can be photographed.

Fotografia Digitale Digital Photography Il corso di Fotografia Digitale si articola sullo studio, teorico e pratico, delle macchine fotografiche reflex digitali, sulle tecniche di fotoritocco delle immagini e sulla rielaborazione al computer attraverso programmi dedicati come Adobe Photoshop e Adobe Lightroom. All’inizio del corso, si apprendono le tecniche fotografiche tradizionali basate su diaframma, tempi di scatto e profondità di campo, comprensione dell’illuminazione naturale e artificiale e metodi di composizione dell’immagine fotografica. Si passa poi all’elaborazione dell’immagine al computer: essa è acquisita, salvata e catalogata utilizzando Adobe Lightroom o programmi simili. In seguito gli allievi affrontano le tecniche base, intermedie e avanzate del fotoritocco e del fotomontaggio, imparando a usare Adobe Photoshop: apprendono l’uso dell’interfaccia, la comprensione del metodo di lavoro con i livelli e la realizzazione di immagini nei diversi formati per il web e per la stampa. Alla fine del corso lo studente avrà realizzato sufficiente materiale per creare un portfolio digitale delle immagini scattate e rielaborate.

The course in Digital Photography consists of the theoretical and practical study of digital reflex cameras, the techniques of photo retouching and the practical skill of photo editing with the use of specialized programs such as Adobe Potoshop and Adobe Lightroom. The course begins with learning the traditional shooting techniques based on diaphragm, shutter speed and depth of field, the understanding of natural and artificial lighting, and the principles of photo composition. Students hereupon learn computer photo editing by acquiring, saving and classifying an image with the use of Adobe Lightroom or similar programs. Subsequently our students deal with basic, intermediate and advanced techniques of photo retouching and photo paste-up by le-

arning how to use Adobe Photoshop: they learn the use of graphics interface, how to work with levels and how to create images in various formats for web and print. At the end of the course students will have collected sufficient material to create a digital portfolio of the photos personally taken and edited.

Maestro liutaio Maestra sarta

Liuteria Violinmakers La liuteria nasce con l’uomo e lo segue in tutto il suo percorso storico e culturale sino ai giorni nostri. Appare contemporaneamente in tutte le civiltà umane già nel paleolitico, ma raggiunge in Italia il suo massimo livello intorno al XVII secolo. La scuola toscana è una delle più prestigiose insieme alla cremonese, alla veneziana, alla bolognese e alla napoletana e, sebbene oggi presenti sfaccettature comuni a tutte le altre, ha come punto di forza la consapevolezza delle sue antichissime radici. Negli elenchi della arti medievali, infatti, un liutaio figura a Firenze già nel XII secolo e altri sono addirittura nominati da Dante nella Divina Commedia. Costruire uno strumento musicale secondo le regole degli antichi maestri e le direttive della scuola classica italiana permette, grazie ai tempi tra gli incollaggi, anche l’insegnamento della teoria, con la quale il maestro liutaio trasmette agli allievi nozioni sull’evoluzione degli strumenti musicali, sulla teoria musicale, sulle differenze fra le varie scuole italiane ed europee, oltre alla conoscenza botanica di tutte le specie legnose interessate. Naturalmente una parte dell’insegnamento teorico verte sulla origine delle vernici italiane, sulla loro evoluzione e sulla riscoperta di quelle che sono rimaste segrete. La normale attività pratica porta, infine, ogni allievo ad apprendere le basi per la teoria del restauro, applicabile a qualsiasi strumento musicale non solo ad arco o a pizzico. Uno spazio sarà dedicato allo studio delle caratteristiche di strumenti

del passato e dei grandi liutai. In altri termini, il corso di liuteria non è solo teso alla costruzione di uno strumento, ma darà allo studente solide basi per intraprendere strade diverse spaziando fra più discipline.

Violin making originates with man and accompanies him up to our days throughout his journey in history and culture. It initially develops at the same period in time in all civilizations already in the Palaeolithic era, but reaches its highest level in Italy around the 17th century. The Tuscan School of violinmaking is amongst the most prestigious, together with the ones from Cremona, Bologna and Naples, and although it nowadays no longer offers facets different from any others, its strength lies in the awareness of its ancient roots. As a matter of fact, by looking up medieval art records, a luthier from Florence appears already in the 12th century and others are mentioned even by Dante in the Divine Comedy. Thanks to the long gluing times, making a musical instrument according to the rules of master violinmakers and the guidelines of the classic Italian School of violinmaking, allows the teaching of the theory, thanks to which the master violinmaker can pass on to his students the basics of musical instrument evolution, of musical theory, of the differences between the various Italian and European violinmaking Schools, as well

as the botanical knowledge of all the wood species of interest. Naturally, a share of the theoretical teachings focuses on the origins of Italian varnishes, on their evolution and on the rediscovery of those remained secret. Finally, the standard practical activity leads every student to learn the basics for the theory behind restoration, which can be applied to any musical instrument, not merely to bowed and plucked string instruments. Some time will be devoted to the study of the characteristic features of instruments of the past and to the greatest luthiers. In other terms, the course in violinmaking isn’t merely aimed at the making of an instrument, it will also provide students with a solid knowledge in order for them to undertake different routes involving various fields.

Sartoria Couture Il corso è un viaggio nella creazione e nella consapevolezza. Fare moda e creare un prodotto per certi versi “artistico” è stupendo, ma non deve offuscare la lucidità e la concretezza: gli abiti prodotti nascono per essere venduti, perché la moda è un’industria. La creazione di abiti è, quindi, un’attività collocabile a metà fra arte e mercato. Durante il corso gli allievi avranno modo di fare propria questa concezione della moda. Essenziale anche capire che per creare un prodotto nuovo bisogna avere una conoscenza approfondita dell’iconografia e della storia del costume, che è capace di regalare ispirazione a chi si approccia a questo mondo. La cultura dell’immagine è, infatti, fondamentale: bisogna studiare Simone Martini, Ambrogio Lorenzetti, Gustav Klimt e altri grandi che hanno dato tanto spazio nella loro opera ai costumi, ricordandoci come l’abito veste l’animo dell’uomo nei diversi momenti della sua vita. I grandi pittori sanno che l’abito, quanto il volto, parla del personaggio, dell’uomo e della sua vita. Ultimo e importante passaggio del corso: disegnare non basta. Bisogna controllare la capacità pratica di realizzare modello, taglio e cucito: gli strumenti indispensabili per passare veramente dal figurino all’abito. La manualità che segue l’intuizione toglie l’abito dalla sfera dell’idea astratta e lo cala nella realtà del farsi e nella concretezza del nostro lavoro quotidiano. To create fashion and to create a product of a somehow “artistic” nature is wonderful, yet this mustn’t overshadow the lucidity and concreteness: since fashion is an industry, the clothes created are manufactured to be sold. The making of clothes can therefore be seen as a trade

halfway between art and commerce. During the course students will be able to experience fashion in such manner. It is also essential to understand that in order to create a new product one has to have deep knowledge of the iconography and the history of costume, which can also help in providing inspiration to those starting off in this field. Image culture is, as a matter of fact, fundamental: one has to study Simone Martini, Ambrogio Lorenzetti, Gustav Klimt and other greats who created works in which costumes played a very important role, thus reminding us how clothes dress a man’s soul throughout the different moments of his life. Great painters know to which extent clothes, as much as a face, can convey a lot about the character, the man and his life. The last yet important passage of the course: drawing isn’t enough. One needs to master the practical ability of creating a sketch, of

cutting and of sewing: the essential instruments to actually move on from fashion sketch models to clothes. After the initial intuition comes the manual ability, which takes away the item of clothing from the sphere of abstract ideas and places it in the reality of making and in the tangibility of our daily occupation.

Workshop La Scuola organizza durante il corso dell’anno Workshop di Fotografia per approfondire ulteriormente le capacità pratiche degli allievi, mediante l’attività di laboratorio. Le date e i luoghi di svolgimento saranno comunicati durante l’anno agli allievi interessati.

Open Studio La scuola cerca di aiutare gli alunni a far emergere le loro potenzialitĂ e favorisce le inclinazioni personali. Per questo motivo mette a disposizione laboratori attrezzati di Arredamento, Design, Moda, Grafica, Pittura e Fotografia con camera oscura. Non solo: un insegnante o un assistente saranno sempre disponibili negli orari previsti dal calendario scolastico o eventualmente su richiesta. Gli open studio sono organizzati per adattare tempi e tipo di studio alle esigenze degli studenti.

The school facilities include fully equipped labs for lessons in interior design, product design, fashion design, graphics, fine arts and photography (the photography lab also has a darkroom) where a professor or an assi stant will be present during the scheduled practical lessons. Access to the labs can also be independent using the formula we call open studio. Open studios are organized to promote personal talent outside the organized courses in order to grant the maximum flexibility in terms of time use and creativity to each ones needs. The posing room is also available for individual use. Agreements will be made on demand.
