Dear Parents, We hope the following summary of the Sunday School lesson will help you in discussing the lesson with your children and working through this booklet together. SCRIPTURE PASSAGE:

Elisha

2 Kings 4:1-37 BIBLE STORY SUMMARY:

After one of the prophets dies, his wife asks Elisha what to do because her husband’s creditors are going to take her sons as slaves. Elisha creates a plan to provide oil for her to sell and save her sons. Another woman makes a place for Elisha to stay when he travels near her home. In return, God provides her with a son. When he is older, he becomes sick and dies, but Elisha returns and brings him back to life. LESSON FOCUS:

God wants to help people who please Him and delight in Him.

Sometimes God’s help depends on us obeying Him.

WHAT WE LEARNED ABOUT GOD:

God helps us when we ask Him for help.

When we are doing things that please God, He can help us in return.

Nothing is too hard for God.

RESPONSE:

I should be ready to ask for God’s help when I’m in a difficult situation.

I should watch for His help as I depend on Him, not attributing the good of my life to circumstance, or my great efforts, but as evidence of God’s glory.

God’s Provision Of Oil And Healing Of A Son

This Week’s Memory Verse: Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in it’s various forms. 1 Peter 4:10
