You will meet regularly, one-on-one, with someone who genuinely cares about you and your circumstances. For more information, contact Kari Peterson at 952.223.1848 or karip@bereanbaptist.com.

Baptism is a public way to identify with Christ and tell outwardly that we belong to Christ (Romans 6:3-4). Boys and girls can follow the example of Jesus who was baptized by John even though He was without sin (Matthew 3:13-1). For more information, see page 15.

One-on-one special care for children with special needs is provided on Sunday mornings to mainstream children who need help coping with a classroom setting. We assign special companions when desired. Companions also help the other children realize the value placed on each and every child by our creator, God. Questions? Please contact Kim Phillips.

ORCHESTRA

Rehearsal: Wednesdays, 5:45-6:40pm Berean features the orchestra for special events and projects such as Christmas Concerts, Easter and on highlighted Sunday services. WORSHIP TEAM

Rehearsal: Thursdays, 7-9pm The worship team assists in leading worship during the contemporary services. This team is open to those age 16 or older who are comfortable singing parts and are able to improvise. Instrumentalists/vocalists must be able to practice on their own time and come prepared for rehearsal. The worship team leads during both contemporary services, and in special worship services throughout the year. If you are interested in auditioning for the worship team, please contact Terry Foss.

SANCTUARY CHOIR

Rehearsal: Wednesdays, 6:45-8:15pm The Sanctuary Choir is for anyone age 16 and over, who can sing, learn, and hold their own part. The choir regularly sings in the Sanctuary service (8:30am) and also participates in concerts throughout the year. For more information, contact Clare Boyer.

WORSHIP CHOIR

Rehearsal: Thursdays, 7-9pm (when scheduled) Berean’s worship choir is an exciting and relatively new addition to Worship Ministries! They join the contemporary worship team approximately every 4-6 weeks for both contemporary services. We are actively seeking choir members of all ages. If you can carry a tune and love to sing (singing parts is not necessary), this is the place for you! Contact Kay Larson for more information.

Worship Ministries BAPTISM

SERVE ON SUNDAYS Put your spiritual gifts to use by serving with Worship Ministries.

Sunday, September 30

Guest Center:

Baptism is the external expression of our inward and personal faith. It declares “Jesus is Lord” in a public and visible fashion, announcing to everyone that we have surrendered to a new authority in our lives. Berean offers indoor baptism during the fall/winter/spring months.

Ushers:

You might have questions about why we baptize by immersion, if you should be re-baptized as an adult, or even if baptism is a requirement for salvation. These questions and more will be answered in the pre-requisite class. Classes will be earlier in September. Watch the Sunday bulletin for more details or contact Kay Larson.

Volunteers running this area help direct newcomers to Adult Bible Fellowships and give them information about Berean. If you have the gift of hospitality, we are always looking to add friendly, energetic people to our team. Contact Salli Armour (see staff ). Men and women are needed to assist with many aspects of creating an environment of worship. Contact Marc Rolando at rolandos@mchsi.com.

Greeters: We are always on the lookout for bright, happy

faces to welcome guests and regular attenders into our church. Contact Salli Armour (see staff ).

Communion Preparers/Servers:

The Lord’s Table is celebrated monthly as a congregation. Individuals are needed to prepare and serve the elements. Contact Rob Sink at rob.sink21@gmail.com.

Parking Lot Attendants:

We need bold and brave Bereanites to serve in the parking lot to help direct traffic in and out of Berean before, after, and between services. Contact Kay Larson (see staff ).

November 21, 7pm Join us as we worship God and give thanks for all that He has done in our lives and at Berean. This service is followed by our annual tree lighting and pie fellowship. Bring a pie to share to the catering kitchen by 6:45 pm.

Global Outreach Making Christ’s Last Command Our First Priority HUI INITIATIVE

GLOBAL HARVEST November 2-4, 2012

Watch for a complete schedule of activities in your Sunday bulletin or on our website.

The Hui are an unreached Muslim people living in Asia, numbering over 12 million, and are believed to be the largest people group in the world without a single known Christian fellowship group. Berean has responded to the call to reach this group by promoting short-term trips and projects to assist our missionary partners, and by praying for the Hui on a consistent basis. If you are interested in becoming involved with this initiative, join us for prayer on the first Wednesday evening of every month. To learn more, contact Elaine Tymchak.

GO MOVIE NIGHT

PERSECUTED CHURCH MINISTRY

The face of missions is radically changing in the 21st century. As Christianity explodes across the globe, how ought our message and methods adapt? Join us as we explore this question with special presenters and events, and learn from our Global Outreach missionary partners. Events will take place throughout the weekend.

“58: The Film” – if you missed seeing it during Missions Fest this year, here’s your chance to watch it! A powerful and compelling look at global poverty and the Church’s response. This film is not rated, but is not suggested for young children. Screenings will be scheduled for September or October. Watch for a schedule in your Sunday bulletin or on our website.

2nd Thursdays, 2pm or 7pm, Library

More Christians have died for their faith in this past century than any other time in history. The persecuted church ministry exists to pray for our suffering brothers and sisters, to give them support through tangible means, and to mobilize the Christian community in the Twin Cities to work together on their behalf. To learn more, contact Patti Mortland at 952.447.0061 or plmorty@mchsi.com.

Global Outreach Serve Locally, Make an Impact Globally SERVING MISSIONARY PARTNERS

REFUGEE FAMILY ADOPTION

You can bless and serve some of our global missionary partners without ever leaving your home! Opportunities exist to host missionary families when they visit Berean for a few nights, help them with technical assistance (such as creating Facebook accounts, websites, or newsletter templates), or collecting resources and supplies for their ministries. For more information, contact Elaine Tymchak or check the Outreach section of our website regularly.

Berean is partnering with World Relief Minnesota to serve recently-arrived refugees with assistance, education, and support. Opportunities exist to help them set up their homes, get their children situated in schools, homework help, assisting parents to learn how to navigate basic things such as banks and grocery stores, and many more. To learn how you can be involved, contact Elaine Tymchak.

SOMALI CONNECTION

PROJECT HOPE

You don’t need to look very far to find opportunities to serve refugees who have suffered tremendously due to war, persecution, and extreme poverty. Burnsville has one of the largest Somali refugee populations, and God has opened many doors for Berean to connect with our Muslim neighbors. There are many different opportunities to serve, including ESL and homework tutoring. For more information, contact Elaine Tymchak.

Project Hope is an outreach to Redeemer Arms Housing in St. Paul. Once a month we assemble and deliver 70-80 lunches, share a short devotional, and have prayer time. The people who live there have substance abuse issues, health problems, and other difficulties. If you are interested in helping people in need, please join us. Contact Lynn Wilde at clippy@frontiernet.net or Sue Simpson at garysuesim@juno.com.
