2010: ANNUAL REPORT ON GIVING
February 2011 Dear Friends: I am pleased to present the Berger Health Foundation (BHF) annual report on giving for 2010. All the accomplishments in this report are due to a team effort of the Foundation Board of Directors, the Hospital Board of Governors, employees and volunteers at Berger Health System and of donors like yourself. We couldn’t have done it without you. This past year was a good year for the Foundation. Even in these difficult economic times, we continue to fulfill our mission of impacting the health and wellness of people in our area. Our mission is not in recession and your gifts are truly investments in our community. Here are some of the highlights: • Digital Mammography Project BHF took on the task of bringing digital mammography units to all of Berger’s sites • Free Clinic of Pickaway County Started with the help of a community advisory board and funded in part by the Rainbow Fund, BHF agreed to run the Free Clinic as one of its programs to support health care access in the community
• “We Are Family” Employee Campaign - Guided by a 10 member employee steering committee, Berger’s first ever employee giving campaign exceeded its goal of $25,000 by raising over $28,000 for the digital mammography project
and the new Berger Family Assistance Fund (an employee assistance fund) • Tackling Cancer Event - On October 2ND, the Teays Valley Vikings hosted the Logan Elm Braves in a battle against something much bigger than football— a battle against cancer. This high school football game served as a communitywide fundraiser that accumulated over $46,000 to benefit local cancer care and research Now more than ever, as we experience economic challenges, Berger Health System relies on the charitable contributions of the Pickaway County community to sustain its leadership position in local health care. Philanthropy will continue to play an ever increasing role in the ability of Berger Health System to provide the latest in technology and the best in patient care. Your support is having an impact on Berger Health System and the community, for which we are indeed grateful. I invite you to learn more about Berger Health Foundation and opportunities for giving by visiting bergerfoundation.org. With great appreciation and best wishes,
Larry Halm, Executive Director Berger Health Foundation
