The aim of the project is based on searching for the intercommunication between the elderly in their use of the Centre and its relationship with the environment and neighbours. To achieve this, the entire centre is organised through a winding oak wood wall that enwraps the pillars and existing facilities and separates the service spaces (toilets, bar, warehouse, facilities...) which are inside the venue, from the Centre's open spaces occupying the whole perimeter gallery of the façade. All the large windows of the façade are built in the same way, with large frames creating crossed visuals between the inside and outside, which interlink the centre users with passers-by from the outside.

SENIOR LIVING ARCHITECTURE

The Municipal Centre for the Elderly is housed in the centre of Burlada, next to the main street of town and the Church of San Juan Bautista. It occupies a large venue on the ground floor and basement of an apartment building. It has a public pedestrian square that serves as a foyer to the Centre and its cafe-bar. The Centre projects into the square with a decked terrace.
