2021 Men’s Golf Program

The 2021 Men’s Golf Program has been modified in an effort to increase participation. We are limiting the number of events that we will offer, but have chosen formats that we feel will be fun for all of our members. Each event will be a shotgun with either a lunch or dinner following the round.

February 10 9:30 Shotgun Odds & Evens

March 10 9:30 Shotgun Team Stableford

April 21 9:00 Shotgun 1,2,3 Repeat

October 20 9:30 Shotgun 2 or More…

November 17 9:30 Shotgun 1 BB on 5’s. 2 on 4’s, 3 on 3’s

Looking ahead to Men’s Day in 2021, there will be six events with three in the Spring and three in the Fall. Just as last year, the last event will be a ‘Ryder Cup’ style event. The top two point leaders will be designated as Captains to select their team for the BH Men’s Cup. For each event you play in, you get 5 points. 1st Place gets 50 points, 2nd Place – 45, 3rd Place – 40, 4th Place – 35, 5th Place – 30, 6th Place – 25, 7th Place – 20, 8th Place – 15, 9th Place – 10, 10th Place – 5.

Berkeley Hall Dress Code

Appropriate golf attire is required for all Players. If in doubt as to appropriate attire, players should check with the Golf Shop staff.

Shirts with collars, turtlenecks or mock collars and sleeves must be worn at all times. Slacks or golf shorts must be worn. Cargo shorts, tank tops, T-Shirts, cut-offs, denim pants, denim shorts, sweat pants, bathing suits, or other athletic shorts are not permitted. Hats must be worn with bill facing forward. Shirts must be tucked in at all times.

Shoes: Soft Spikes and Tennis Shoes are the only acceptable shoes for the golf courses and practice facilities. Large rubber spikes, metal spikes, and/or field shoes are not permitted. Acceptable spikes are available through the Locker Room.

Berkeley Hall Paceof Play & Course Etiquette

Berkeley Hall’s pace of play policy has been set at 4 hours. Any group that falls behind the fourhour pace will be asked to speed up by the professional staff. Groups will get two warnings and if they cannot get back into position, they will be asked to pick up their balls and proceed to the correct position on the golf course. Members that are asked to skip ahead two times throughout the course of a year will meet with the Director of Golf to discuss different techniques to play in 4 hours or less. Members that are asked to skip ahead a third time will be invited to a Golf Committee meeting and may be restricted from “prime time” tee times. On days that we are Cart Path Only, pace of play will be set at 4 hours and 20 minutes.

Repair ball marks on the green. Fill in all divots through the green. Carefully rake sand bunkers after use. Enter and exit the bunkers at their lowest elevation.

2021 - 2022 President’s Cup Season Long Individual Match Play Event

You are cordially invited to participate in the Tenth annual President’s Cup event to be contested during the months of October 2021 – April 2022.

The field will be limited to the first 64 individuals to register.

This year’s President’s Cup will have 2 stages. The first stage will be the group stage where players will be in Pods of 4 players and will play each person in their group to determine a winner for that Pod. The next stage will be the Knockout stage where the winners of each Pod will play Individual match play until the Overall Champion is decided. For grouping purposes only, players will be grouped based on their Handicap Index** as of September 15, 2021. USGA Handicaps will be used at the time of the match. Players are responsible to schedule their match during the allotted time. Each month, the professional staff will send an update with the matches that have been completed. If a match is not completed by the designated date, the match will be decided by an impartial member witnessed coin toss. The Director of Golf will resolve all scheduling disputes. Our members who are not “full time” residents are reminded to only enter if you will be able to fulfill the match schedule requirements. Brackets will be posted by September 22, 2021.

For seeding purposes only, players will be seeded based on their Handicap Index as of September 15, 2021. USGA Handicaps will be used at the time of the match. Players are responsible to schedule their match during the allotted time. If a match has not been completed in the first thirty days, the golf staff will send a match reminder. If a match is not completed by the designated date, the match will be decided by an impartial member witnessed coin toss. The Director of Golf will resolve all scheduling disputes. Our members who are not “full time” residents are reminded to only enter if you will be able to fulfill the match schedule requirements. Brackets will be posted by September 22, 2021.

You are cordially invited to participate in the Berkeley Cup to be played February 25-27, 2021. The Berkeley Cup is a great opportunity to invite a golf professional from your home club to come enjoy the Low Country for a weekend of competition and camaraderie.

Eligible teams will consist of a Golf Professional and 3 Amateurs (Teams may consist of Berkeley Hall Members or Guests. Our Professional Staff will assist your group with finding a golf professional if needed.)

The field will be limited to the first 28 teams to enter.

Our tournament format and the schedule of events have been included to assist you with your arrangements. Please note that all dress for the tournament will be club casual.

Players Program

36-Hole Stroke Play

Touring Professionals will play the Black Tees Club Professionals will play the Blue Tees Club Professionals 50 and over will play the Member Tees (All Professionals will receive a $200.00 appearance fee)

Amateurs will play the White Tees (The rule of 75 is in effect.)

Optional Cash Buy-In ($400.00/team) Includes team prizes and daily gross and net individual skins
