BHC members Carol and Marc Dulude found their way to Berkeley Hall from Charter Oak Country Club in Hudson, MA, back in the Club’s early days, when they decided to come down in 2006 for a discovery visit. In those days, the golf shop was housed in a golf cottage! Originally from Canada, the Duludes moved to Massachusetts 30 years ago. Both avid golfers, they were looking for somewhere down South, with good golf and warm weather, when Marc first became aware of Berkeley Hall in a Wall Street Journal feature. “We loved it the minute we got here,” said Carol. “We loved the area, BHC’s staff was so friendly, and we fell in love with the Club. The South Course wasn’t even open yet!” They purchased a lot, planning to come down until ready for a permanent move. “Of course, we started making trips just about every year with my friends from Charter Oak and we brought our kids down and they loved it too,” added Carol. One of those friends happened to be Susan Yahn, who

joined them on their very first visit. Susan and husband Peter MacPherson joined them at BHC a few years later. The Duludes then purchased a spec house on Woodside and Carol invited her Charter Oak gals down. “We started a tradition of coming down here every March for what we called ‘golf camp.’ To get back into the swing of things after the Massachusetts winter!” After they moved here full time, she started inviting her friends down for the Invitational. “As more of the Charter Oak group joined here, we had more and more teams playing in the Invitational. The last three years it’s been four teams, and it has become a reunion of sorts!” “It transitioned to when the Ladies Invitational was kinda

getting going, then Sharon and Earl Jones had joined, and Carolyn and Bill Hershberger, and we had enough members to get several teams together and it became a great reunion down here, that continues to this day.” We started a tradition of coming Also from Charter Oak – Jill Appel and Marc down here every March for what Silver bought a lot, then we called ‘golf camp.’ To get back a golf cottage, and just moved into their new into the swing of things after the custom home by AR Homes. Massachusetts winter! Kennedy called last summer and said, “We’re ready to come down more!” said Carol, adding, “They bought on Hopsewee, and have young kids, so hope to be here full-time in a few years.” “When we host the upcoming Ladies Invitational and have three or so Charter Oak teams, we just may have a few more folks decide now’s the time to be at BHC full-time too!”
