Graefewirtschaft: a social intercultural enterprise Berlin 2014, Heike Birkhรถlzer


Main objectives of Graefewirtschaft  setting-up social enterprises  creating decent jobs opportunities for migrants and refugees  acquisition of contracts alongside the skills and capacities of the members  training on the job, learning by doing  promoting multi-culutral exchange in the local community  serving local needs and strengthening the social cohesion in the neighbourhood  participating in programmes to combat racism

providing support by coaching and training on the job

raising income through sales and contracts rather than through projectgrants and subsidies

Providing meals for 6 schools and 5 kindergardens on-site preparation Delivery daily from Monday to Friday Running cantines, selling drinks and snacks


Catering: prominent customers like politicians and non-governmental organisations are the most important clients

 Intercultural Catering of traditional meals from countries of origin  Healthy meals for the neighbourhood  Meals provided at conferences, events etc


The restaurant: „Die Weltküche“ offers traditional dishes from all over the world Restaurant

 Lunch and dinner of traditional recipes  Social committment and inclusion within the neighbourhood  Communication between cultures, information on recipes and traditions of cooking and eating


Services for elderly people

 Providing meals for the elderly  Supporting and entertaining at home  Conversation and activities adapted to diverse cultural needs  Work integration for refugees
