In line with the axes defined in the Design Strategy Report for Ä°zmir, the project aims to create a center fot creative arts, design and innovation; a center of artistic production and design, and an urban node of interaction between artists, designers and the citizens of all ages, being a part of urban life and connected to the city. The Urban Creative Pole is based on a sustainable social and economic model of management that aims to support artists and designers.
The selected site consists of the northern part of the future CBD area and the old insudtrial zone, including the site of the old Piyale Pasta Factory that stretches along the Bornova Stream, thus neighbouring the archeological site of Old Smyrna.

Since the site is neighbouring the Mound Symrna, and there is a historic factory building on it as a part of industrial heritage, one aim was enhancing the life quality of the citizens by enriching their daily life, including reinforcing their sense of belonging to “the place by increasing their awareness that they are living in a city with a long history.
The building that was a part of production line, and the administration building were preserved as they are with their old purposes. With the aim of reminding and displaying the memory of industrial heritage, the references coming from the footprint of existing structure, created the top cover that regulates all the site. Top cover contains; terraces, technical/mechanical spaces, shaders, solar panels and closed spaces according to the occasion or space under it.

As a solution to social problems of contemporary cities, art is the best way to create social cohesion. For creative engagement, the Urban Creative Pole gives a chance to paticipate in the experimental journey of strolling, gathering, tutoring, learning, observing, creating and producing together. This leads people to become collective instead of individualized community.
socially engaged practice: socially engaged practice describes art that is collaborative, often participatory and involves people as the medium or material of the work. interactive art: interactive art describes art that relies on the participation of a spectator. community art: community art is artistic activity that is based in a community setting, characterised by interaction or dialogue with the community and often involving a professional artist collaborating with people who may not otherwise engage in the arts. new genre public art: the term new genre public art, refers to public art, often activist in nature, and created outside institutional structures in order to engage directly with an audience. Production building promotes interaction and encourages collaboration across academic disciplines with the open studios and open floor plans. Instead of conventional closed plans, by shifting planes and creating gallery spaces, a space for collectivity is created.
The flexible and reconfigurable design allows future changes in the production space according to needs of different art types. Spaces of production, workshops and shared working areas can adjust to different occasions.

Alimos , as a part of Athens, one of the largest marinas in Greece. But it has its personal identity. It is like a modern suburb of Athens with the distance of 8 km to the center Athens. The rising population at a rate muchhigher than the avarage increase of population in the center. In 1961 Alimos had 13.000 inhabitants, now it has 50.000 people live in. This is the proof of a trend of its inhabitants in a search of better quality of life in peri-urban areas. Advantages of the Alimos for that reason, it has a small distance from center, easily accesible, the sea and recreational opportunities in coastal zone.
Athens
Alimos
As a marina it has all of the marinas activities. Survival, repair, management and maintenance services are provided on a land of 171.030 square meters. In the aspect of accessibility, subway, tram and busses are connecting center and the marina. But the main road along the coastal, Poseidonos Avenue, creates a boundry between agglomeration and the marina. There is no enough public spaces for the inhabitants and the area lacks of green spaces. The only gaps around the marina are WWII cemetry and coastal zone.
13
One of the main ideas of the project was to integrate the landscape of the new buildings and the port area of the marina into the urban environment of Alimos and Athens. Main aim was connecting marina to city but also create a public space that can be distinguished from the urban texture. The proposal creates a system able to find an architectural solution not only for the buildings but also for all the landscape elements involved (street furniture, small stores, etc.), establishing a close relationship between them.
TWith a unifying approach throughout the project in order to get an image of continuity. Idea of continuity helped us to create the main promenade and also the shape of our main building. The materials and colors used are chosen from the idea of it is created a common language and a willingness to integrate into the environment. With two bridges site is connecting with the agglomeration and creates welcoming passages through marina.

Youth Hostel with a Theme Individual Work Type: Hostel Location: Konya Date: Spring 2017-2018 -3rd Year Architectural Design Studio Instructors: Erkin Aytaç, Gizem Deniz Güneri Söğüt, İrem Hafız
18
The project aims to create a youth hostel with a specific theme (defined by each student) near the railway staiton in Konya. Konya is one of the biggest cities in Turkey and with its rich history, it has religious, industrial and historical values. With the tomb of Mevlana, the spiritual legacy of the city promotes mindfulness, respect, love, peace, retreat, self-awareness as meditation and yoga do. As a result of this idea, the theme of hostel is meditation and yoga.
The site is located in a historical and central part of Konya. It is surrounded by a green area, a historical hotel, railway and lodgment settlement for railway workers. It is between the high speed train station and a highway and neighbouring to the old lodgement houses for railway station worker, these houses are known as German houses. In addition, the site is next to a historic hotel from Ottoman era, Baghdat Hotel.

As the theme of hostel is meditation and yoga, the form of the building is introverted. It has vertical stone-covered elements, refers Tantavi Granary near the site and isolate the interior from exterior crowd and voices. The courtyard is the biggest room of the hostel, interrelated with the retreat rooms and meditation classes.
By shifting planes, terraces are created and by taking the greenery in the courtyard, a continuation is provided between the landscape of hostel and the green area on the South. In addition, the main entrance of the hostel refers the Baghdad Hotel. With its dimensions, its placement and approach to site the hostel shows a compatible stance with the historical hotel.

Reciprocal Stepping is a functional installation that installed on a portion of the METU Faculty of Architecture stairs, which is specifically assigned to each team. It was required to be site specific , durable and to carry loads like books or files. By means of computational design, Rhinoceros and its plug-ins (Grasshopper, Karamba, RhinoVault) are used during design process.
Reciprocal frames are self-supporting structures made of three or more beams and which requires no center support and there is no structural hierarchy within the frame connecting elements with the same rule. In the design, three members are used to create a small unit which its diameter gets smaller, compression gets larger.

Location Zagori is a unique residential and cultural unit of 46 villages located north of the Ioannina and constitute one of the most remarkable traditional units of the Greek area. Its natural boundaries are set by Mount Mitsikeli, Aoos River, Ligos Mountains and Mount Tymphi. The area is geographically divided into three sections, the central, eastern and western Zagori. The word “Zagori means behind the mountains, a name derived from Slavic. The area of Zagori is well known for its natural environment; mountains - overgrown with dense forests in the spring months and rocky, cracked in the winter - often separated by ravines and rivers.
Zagori Ioannina
Vitsa is one of the forty-six villages of Zagori. It is located 36 km from the city of Ioannina, on the central axis of Zagori, at the boundaries of the Vikos-Aoos National Park and at the beginning of the famous gorge of Vikos. It is a residential complex of stone-built structures, representative of the villages of Zagori. The village is divided into two spatial units called the Mahalades, Ano and Kato Vitsa. The natural divider of the two sections is the extension of the Vikos gorge, a deep natural cavity, Brinus.
31
Public Spaces The settlement is monocentric; it has a unique center on the square in Messochori, located in Kato Vitsa. There, the basic public functions (community office, school, cafeteria) are gathered. In the square, around the plane tree, many festivals take place, most notably that of the feast of the Virgin on August 15, but also the feast of the tsipouro. A network of four cobbled streets runs around the center of the settlement, following the relief of the land, which branches and leads to the dwellings and the workplaces. At the intersection of the cobbled streets, plateaux are created that residents use as stops and meetings.
In the area of Vitsa there are several monasteries and churches built quite old in the traditional way by the craftsmen of the time. The oldest temple of Vitsa is the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. There is no clear indication of the date of its establishment. Probably before the year 1554 it would function as a Monastery, as it appears from a reference to the old Gospel paraphernalia. The temple was repaired in the year 1728. It operates today as a church for Kato Vitsa.
32
Dwellings The settlement of Vitsa is perfectly integrated into the landscape of Zagori. The location, the way the houses have been built and the connections between them have been shaped according to the relief, while serving the needs of its residents. An important factor in its integration is the materials. use of wood and stone lead to complete harmonization of settlement and natural environment. The building materials of the settlement are not very diverse, they are constructed with stone and wood. The clay is used as a binder in some buildings. Metallic elements are rarely seen. Sheets are used only in places where the roofs have fallen.
Historical Data The first mention in the village of Vitsa is the year 1319 AD. in Byzantine Chrysobull by Andronikos Palaiologos the Elder, named Beitsa. In the years of the Despotate, in 1361, Vitsa with Chrysoboulos of Simeon Uresis Palaiologos is mentioned under the name Vezitsa and is conceded along with other regions of Epirus (Upper and Lower Sudena and Tservari) by the ruler Uresis as a tribute to Doukas Ioannis Tsafas Orsini. In the “Chronicle of Votsa in a book of the homonymous Zagoria of Monastiri, Beitsa together with fourteen other villages of Zagori is reported that in 1430 Voiniko signed a conquest with Sultanian representative Sinan Pasha.
