BGYB is delighted to present our Charter Companion for 2024. This is our fourth edition of the Companion, a title which was chosen to reflect our relationship with you, our clients, throughout the charter process – a companion to accompany you through every step, from the initial point of contact through to the charter itself and beyond.
Reflecting on 2023, it is safe to say that we have seen yet another splendid year for the yacht charter industry, with BGYB increasing our annual number of charter contracts signed by 22%! Despite the initial calm period at the beginning of the summer, the charter team demonstrated perseverance and achieved remarkable results. Following the two years marked by travel restrictions, medical tests, and enforced isolation periods amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a noticeable surge in yacht charter demand. However, we are presently observing a gradual market stabilisation as the level demand begins to normalize. Nevertheless, BGYB remains committed to advancing and making progress with turnover increasing by more than 20% each year.
Looking ahead for 2024, BGYB is aware that many yacht charter clients may be looking for eco-friendly and sustainable yacht options. We recognise the increasing environmental issues and are striving to offer yachts with reduced carbon footprints, energy-efficient systems, and eco-conscious itineraries. In order to meet this demand, we have two beautiful Sunreef Eco Catamarans in our fleet: Sunreef ECO 50 TIRIL based in French Polynesia, and the brand new Sunreef ECO 80 APOLLO 99! We are also foreseeing more wellness and health-focused charters in 2024 and are looking forward to assisting clients with their specific preferences. Furthermore, we take pride in meeting and exceeding clients’ expectations for advanced technology and connectivity when onboard, in accordance with the technological standards of 2024. BGYB is again witnessing a great wave of enthusiasm for summer 2024; our clients have never booked their charters so early!
We have continued to develop our marketing strategies to expand our clientele base and broker network, focusing on quality of service while meeting the growing market. The next steps are to improve the BGYB website to enhance the user experience and potentially find a larger head office
to accompany our growth. We are consistently looking for new communication channels to reach a wide audience of clients, such as our significant digital visibility in 2023 achieved through paid search keywords. One of BGYB’s brokers has recently spent time in Bordeaux, France to meet business development objectives in this region. We are also looking to expand our business operations into the Middle East where there is significant clientele.
Thanks to many 2023 additions to BGYB’s central agency fleet, we are able to offer exciting new charter destinations for our clients – including Greece and the Seychelles with the beautiful Lagoon Seventy 7 MANE ET NOCTE, which are proving to be more and more favoured amongst guests. In saying that, the French and Italian coasts remain as popular as ever!
In this catalogue, the BGYB charter team presents our expanded selection of the most beautiful charter destinations across the globe to be explored during a cruise onboard a luxury yacht with friends, family or colleagues.
What’s more, we have included a large selection of motor and sailing yachts which we recommend for the incredible quality of service offered on board.
Having also been specialists in regatta charters for quite some time, we have included the different types of sailing yachts available for key regattas, as well as the main races and events taking place in the West Mediterranean and the Caribbean during the upcoming year.
Finally, we would like to mention our Yacht Charter Management services, and present the entire BGYB team; experts in yachting and dedicated to bringing your yacht charter to life, with the goal of creating unforgettable memories carried out under the BGYB slogan:
“Yachting in Style with Peace of Mind”
We hope you enjoy reading our new 2024 Charter Companion!

Charter Guide
Step 1
Creating the perfect charter
Who is the charter for?
Charters evidently come in all shapes and sizes. Whether it is personal or corporate, simply decide the number of guests you wish to have on board and how many cabins are required for your luxury accommodation and we will find a yacht with a suitable capacity.
Where and when to go?
Decide on the time of year and the type of setting and we will match it to the best conditions and the best areas in that season.
Motor or Sailing?
Whichever your preference, there is a yacht that will guarantee your satisfaction, whether it is under sail or cruising with a motor.
On board preferences?
Which activities to do?
If it is long trips on shore discovering new places, cruising around undiscovered islands and coves or diving deep below the water’s surface, the activities on board are truly up to you. Energetic or leisurely, each guest can enjoy the chosen activities that they desire.
Atmosphere on board is crucial, which is why everything is tailor-made for our clients. From entertainment and music to culinary choices, all aspects are catered for. As well as your dietary requests, the crew will ensure that your favorite foods and wines are on board and prepared exactly how you wish them to be. If restaurants are desired, then your reservations will be awaiting you ashore. Not forgetting how you shall reach your charter yacht, your transfer by air or road is dutifully considered also.
Find the perfect charter yacht for a unique experience BGYB’s team offers its service to create a charter tailored to you in your dream destination. Our charter guide clearly lays out how we proceed, in three simple steps. www.bernard-gallay.com Yacht Brokerage Charter Companion 4 Home Destinations Motor Yachts Sailing Yachts Racing Charter Events Charter
Step 2
Planning your charter with your Charter Broker
It is true to say that certain things in life require careful consideration; chartering a yacht is one of those things. It merits considerable planning ahead so that every aspect of your charter is tuned to perfection.
Whether it is yacht availability or destination popularity, certain factors must be considered in plenty of time to guarantee your satisfaction. It is advisable to book several months in advance.
Once you have decided on the type of charter that you wish to experience, the BGYB charter team will put all their efforts into finding the right yacht and the right destination.
Step 3
Finalising your charter
As Mediterranean Yacht Brokers Association (MYBA) members, the BGYB charter team work under the following terms and conditions: The charter fee includes the charter of the yacht with its crew, fully equipped and fully insured. The Charterer will be charged for all supplementary expenses such as fuel, berthing costs and harbor charges, food & beverages and any other special services that you may request.
In order to cover these costs we will require an advanced provisioning allowance (APA) which is 30% - 45% of the charter fee. This is given to the yacht captain prior to the charter to allow for provisioning of the yacht in preparation of the charter. At the end of the charter (and during if requested) the captain will produce full accounts of all expenditure. Upon disembarkation the charterer either will receive a refund of monies not spent or a request for payment if the APA was exceeded.

ATLANTIC
The current ATLANTIC is the replica of legendary ATLANTIC which was commissioned by New York Yacht Club member Wilson Marshall, Atlantic and which was launched in 1903.
The project was certainly his most ambitious; with her length over deck of 185 feet (56 metres) she is the largest classic racing schooner ever to be recreated. Ed Kastelein was determined for her to be the way she was when she made history in 1905, her original lines were honoured to the finest detail and her sail plan is identical to that of her victorious 1905 Transatlantic Race which made her immortal in yachting history. Above all, she is once again breathtakingly beautiful, turning heads wherever the wind takes her.
Atlantic’s dimensions are simply incredible; over deck she measures a remarkable 56 meters. Her graceful sheer line and long overhangs accentuate her grace while her waterline length of 42 meters and narrow beam are a promise of unmatched speed under sail. Her spars tower some 45 meters above the waterline and support a staggering area of 1,750 m² of sail, more than two and a half times that of the already awesome J-Class yachts.

ATLANTIC
The current ATLANTIC is the replica of legendary ATLANTIC which was launched in 1903 and commissioned by New York Yacht Club member Wilson Marshall After owning, restoring, and rebuilding / recreating several famous yachts such as Thendara, Aile Blanche, Borkumriff, Zaca a te Moana, and Eleonora, Dutch yachtsman Ed Kastelein planned the recreation of 3-mast schooner ATLANTIC as his ultimate masterpiece! This project was certainly his most ambitious - with her deck length of 185 feet (56 metres), she is the largest classic racing schooner ever to be recreated. Her graceful streamline and long overhangs accentuate her elegance while her waterline length of 42 meters and narrow beam promise unmatched speed under sail.
