You Need Commitment By Kenny Pugh How many of you know someone in a relationship that seems to be going nowhere? How many years must go by before making a commitment or deciding that other options are desired? Today is the day where you decide that some type of commitment is required from your ‘friend’ or significant other. It is no longer good enough for you to wait while he or she finds himself or herself. It is no longer good enough for you to wait while he or she figures out what he or she wants to be when he or she grows up. It is no longer good enough for you to wait while entangled in a relationship with someone who hasn’t figured out whether or not they want you. It is time for you to have a grow-up conversation that will either solidify the direction you are both going in, or frees you up from a relationship that will WASTE VALUABLE TIME IN YOUR LIFE. Life is an asset that has a predefined expiration date. You cannot add to or take away from the allotted time God has prescribed for you. Understanding this, why would you remain ensnared in a relationship that doesn’t align with your future aspirations or desires? It is time to make a firm decision to only allow those with like minds and goals to remain connected to you. If your ‘friend’ or significant other is not progressing towards the big picture goals you have for your life, then it’s time for you to set them free. Life is too short to remain connected to people who will hold you back from what God has birthed inside of you. Take control of your life and continue towards the destiny God has called you to. Be blessed! “Every day that you waste delays you from progressing towards your destiny!” –Kenny Pugh Purpose: My purpose is to help people build effective and healthy relationships in order to restore today’s families. Our society is decaying relationally at an alarming rate. I want to serve as a vessel for promoting and building a foundation to healthy relationships. Are you interested in learning more? Well join me as I examine some of the challenges people encounter in the 21st century. Kenny Pugh

with your
A:
To be friends or not be friends...that is the question. I have been on both sides of the spectrum. We’d break up and try the friend thing. Long story short it did not work for me. Maybe someone else could have another outcome, but that was my story. Eventually, I finally realized that we were merely friends by default. The relationship simply DID NOT WORK...period! I had to ask myself...why should I be friends with someone that I cannot be in a relationship with? Isn’t or shouldn’t the basic element of any relationship be friendship?! Why should I be stockpiling all of these “friends” so that when my Prince Charming does come along, I have all these toads and frogs around. I am not saying that you cannot be cordial with this person, but sitting up chatting on the phone and spending time together as “just friends” sounds like being in a relationship in disguise. It’s just a matter of semantics. However if someone does want to venture the friendship journey, both parties should specifically define individually as well as mutually what the friendship will look like. Point one: Evaluate your motives.
Ask yourself...why do I really want to be in a relationship/friendship with this ex? Is it to possibly hook back up, keep tabs on him, etc... if so, let it go! Point two: Do inventory. Ask yourself... is this person worth being in my presence, utilizing my time and resources? Remember this is the same person who apparently wasn’t worth the time of day when you were in a “relationship.” Point three: Point one and two are nonnegotiable!! Remember being friends with someone has nothing to do with forgiveness. Don’t let that be an excuse to stay in a relationship with someone. Let’s not fall into that trap! Finally, I think by the time a person is in their late 20’s early 30’s...that whole “just friends” status is for the birds. The conversation should be...if you liked it then you should have put a ring on it!!
