w a l k i n g u r b a n i t e ted university 2020 content: urban interface, urban transformation
The interface identity has changed as a result of significant shifts such as the change of the environmental structure, the transition of the school from boarding school to carryoneducation, and the conversion of the sports grounds into the car park with legal regulations for school gardens. The concept of urban interface can include the relationship of the school with its immediate surroundings for a public high school and the gradual transitions between students’general area, semi-personal area and personal area within the school boundaries. The transformation ofthe school’s nearby environmental structures into large masses has influenced students’ walking activities inside and outside the school. The transition from boarding school to mobile education has effected students’ walking routes around the school, the location of urban services and outside the education period the use ofthe school garden. The conversion of the sports fields into the school to the parking lot has negatively affected the students’perception towards the school borders.
