Whittlebury Charity Shopping Fair www.whittleburycharityfair.co.uk The annual Whittlebury charity shopping fair will take place on Wednesday 26th and Thursday 27th September at The Orangery and Pavilion, Whittlebury Park. This year the fair will be raising funds for Child Bereavement UK, Helen and Douglas House, Oxford and Macmillian, Northampton. Child Bereavement UK support families and educates professionals when a babyth or child of any age dies or is dying, or when a child is facing bereavement. The charity’s newly opened centre in Milton Keynes provides a key local service where advice can be sought and support given for as long as is needed. Helen and Douglas house, based in Oxford cares for terminally ill children, young adults and their families through exceptional hospice care. Macmillian is a national charity but in Northamptonshire they want to ensure no one faces cancer alone and provide

What next for Brackley Town?

Losing finalists in the league play-off brought disappointment losing out to Harrogate Town but the following weekend half of Brackley de-camped to Wembley and willed their team to FA Trophy victory against National League Bromley. Captain Gaz Dean’s added time equaliser and eventual penalty shoot-out triumph in the most dramatic of finishes will live long in the memory. On 1 August the team will attend a civic reception by South Northants Council in a final tribute to that magnificent

Wembley win. So, what next? Pre-season training and warm-up games are almost complete and the new season is about to kick off in earnest. The National League North line-up is stronger and more competitive than ever and Saints’ early fixtures illustrate this only too well with trips to Bradford Park Avenue and AFC Telford and home games against Darlington and York City all before August is out. Manager Kevin Wilkin starts his third full season in charge at St James Park. Wilkin has retained the services of most of his Wembley winning team and new names have been added

so that supporters have every reason to be both cautious, as last season’s success story will be a hard ask to follow, and expectant as any Wilkin side will be competitive and set up to give any team a real test.

Charity donation rounds off night o celebration for Brackley Athletic Football Club Brackley Athletic FC - The Jaffa’s - held their annual end of season presentation event on Saturday 16th June, and it was truly an evening of celebration for a hugely successful football season, it’s recently attained FA Charter Standard status, and a range of exciting new developments for the club – including a new logo and new club mascot. The evening was topped off with the presentation of a cheque for £720 from Brackley Athletic Football Club to Katherine House Hospice. The funds were raised at the recent Chairman’s Charity Shield event with teams of coaches and parents playing a tournament style event.
